Availability

I am leaving a career in social work and behavior therapy to put my time into loving animals! My normal hours of availability are Monday - Friday: 8am - 6pm. If you need me at a later time or over the weekend, please just ask and I will do my best to make it work for you! I can feed your pets, clean kitties litter box, take your dog(s) for a walk, or just spend time with them and provide my full love and attention. If you need me to stick around for more than a check-in, just let me know and I am happy to do so if I am open!

Safety, trust & environment

I understand that I may be an unfamiliar person to you and your pet and I am entering your sanctuary. If you would like to meet me before entrusting me with your pet, I am more than happy to do so! I can ensure you I am trustworthy and will treat your home with respect and care for your pets as if they were my own! I am happy to feed your pet exactly how you (and they) like, clean out litter boxes or any accidents, take your dog for a walk, play in the backyard, or just relax on the couch together (that's my cats favorite activity!). I have been surrounded by dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and even a turtle since I was very young. I am experienced in caring for dogs and cats that are anxious around strangers, senior pets with mobility issues, high energy dogs, and feisty cats. If your pet is nervous around strangers, I will allow them to come to me and respect their space. I can also send you updates and pictures of your pet while you're away, if you'd like!

Information Abbey D. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your pet has any specific medical needs, unique feeding preferences, and any notable behaviors I should be aware of. This includes eloping out of the home, aggression (biting, scratching), or anxiety around strangers. If your dog has shown aggression towards new faces, I would recommend I meet your dog with you and ensure they are comfortable before I enter their space without you present!

A typical day

I love to play a game of fetch or tug of war with dogs and am happy to take your dog to the park, for a walk around your neighborhood, run in the backyard or simply spend time with your pet inside, giving lots of love and attention! I also love playing with cats - whether it is a laser beam, a cat nip toy or a feather on a stick! If you have a lap dog or cat, they are welcome to rest in my lap!

Providing love & care to your pets!

Pet care experience

I have been around animals since I was a toddler and my love for them has only grown as I have. I have cared for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, and hamsters. As an adult, I have experience caring for rescue dogs and cats experiencing anxiety, senior pets with mobility/sight/hearing issues, high energy dogs (small and large), and feisty cats. I have also owned dogs and cats with significant health issues, meaning I am comfortable administering liquid and pill medication. My one cat, Lincoln, was diagnosed with Chylothorax and went through 3 invasive surgeries. He was on a lot of medication, had a large incision wound and a long road of healing. He is fully recovered now (and in my lap as I type). If you have a pet in recovery, I am comfortable to care for them as well. I also have a Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis and can provide basic obedience training for your puppy or adult dog!

Abbey has been great with our dog. She gives her plenty of attention and is attentive to her needs. Our needs waver and she is always flexible within her capacity. She’s been a great addition to Pippin’s care team.

Abbey is TRULY one of the most compassionate people that I know. Her love of animals is immeasurable! I would recommend her to anyone who wants to be assured that their fur babies are in the best of hands. She goes above and beyond in making sure they are loved and well taken care of!!
