Kathleen was absolutely amazing! She did drop-ins for my pets while I was out of town for a last minute trip, she even came early when my pup didn’t go to the bathroom the previous visit. Such a sweet and caring person, all of her updates and photos made me happy while I was away! My pets loved her ☺️

Jacki was so amazing with my kitty! She took incredible pictures and left me detailed notes of a play by play of what they did during the visit. She also is very prompt and timely. She is very sweet with my kitty—she rarely comes out and is shy, but Jacki got her to come out of her shell. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!

About: Hello, I'm Hadley! If you're looking for a reliable, friendly and animal-loving human to provide short-term care for your pets, I'm your girl! I've cared for both cats and dogs over the years since childhood, rarely living without having at least one in the house! I have experience with cats and dogs of all ages and temperaments. I also volunteered with the Michigan Animal Rescue League as a dog walker from 2023-2024 where I was trained in understanding various dog behaviors and how to provide a safe environment even in stressful situations. I am looking forward to putting my knowledge to use and providing excellent care for pets in my local area! Let's connect and schedule a complimentary meet-and-greet! I can't wait to meet your four-legged family! I work in the government sector and am starting a new full-time job later this year, making me available for your pet care needs nearly 24/7! Whether it's a drop-in or short-lengthy walk, I am excited to enrich your pets life while you're away! While I can't care for your pet in my home, I am a quick learner who will mold my time with your pet around your routine with them! You can trust me to treat your pet as one of my own and provide the utmost respect for your space.

Lara and Jonathon are nothing short of amazing and we are so thankful to have found them. We have two dogs who were both rescued from Amish puppy mills where they were kept in a tiny stall as mama breeders producing litter after litter of puppies for their whole lives, so they have incredible trauma and are very wary of trusting humans due to their pasts. Because of this, we consider them special needs dogs. Lara and jonathon are absolutely amazing with them, and I would not be able to ever leave town if I hadn’t found someone that I can completely trust and that has the patience and empathy to take care of our dogs. They are understanding and caring, and amazing at keeping us updated throughout the day. We have used them twice for 2 long trips and plan to continue in the future- they are so patient and loving with our dogs and have absolutely been a huge part of Cici and Layla’s recovery and rehabilitation journey. I couldn’t recommend them more. They follow directions perfectly and even dealt with our kitchen sink that started leaking when we were away. We are sooo grateful to have found them for our sweet girls!

About: Hi! I’m Victoria, a college student and lifelong animal lover with experience caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities for almost 10 years. I’m responsible, communicative, and attentive to each pet’s unique needs. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or overnight care, I’ll make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I understand how important peace of mind is for pet owners, and I’ll provide regular updates so you know your furry friend is in good hands. I’m available on Mondays and Fridays, as well as all day on weekends. During the week, I’m also free after 2 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday. When I care for your pet, I make sure they feel right at home, whether they’re staying with me or in their familiar environment. At your home, I stick to their routine—feeding, walks, playtime—whatever they need, and I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages. At my home there are no other animals so I create a calm, cozy space where we stick to their schedule, ensuring they get plenty of love.

About: I come from a family of big animal lovers. Some of my siblings even turned that passion into careers as veterinary technicians. I was raised in a house that always had a dog, which truly is what made it a home. While I don’t currently have a dog of my own (but hope to soon!), my family has loved and raised 3 over the years - making it second nature for me to treat every pet like they’re my own. Pet care fits into my routine before and after work during the week, plus open availability on weekends. I’m big on routine and making pets feel like nothing has changed for them while they’re being cared for - so I aim to stick as close to their normal schedule as I can, while providing attention, walks, and care that feels steady and familiar 😊 I care for pets by following the owner’s instructions closely and maintaining their normal routines as much as possible. I pay attention to feeding schedules, walk timing, behavior cues.

I treat every pet in my care the same way I’d want mine to be treated—with patience, attention, and genuine love. About: I’ve been caring for animals for over 10 years, starting as a teenager when I began pet sitting for family friends and neighbors, and I’ve loved it ever since. My primary experience is caring for dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, and temperaments, from energetic puppies and playful kittens to senior pets who need a slower, more gentle routine. I treat every dog and cat in my care like they’re my own, focusing on their comfort, safety, and happiness while you’re away. I tailor care to each pet’s needs, whether that means walks, playtime, enrichment, structured routines, or quiet companionship. I also have experience administering oral medications and injections when needed. I have additional hands-on experience with small pets and other animals, including birds and reptiles, which has strengthened my overall understanding of animal behavior and care. No matter the pet, I provide reliable, attentive care so they feel secure and well cared for in your absence. I’m currently a teacher on summer break and looking forward to spending my days doing something I truly enjoy—caring for animals! My schedule is very flexible, allowing me to provide attentive, consistent pet care throughout the day. I provide care exclusively in clients’ homes so pets can remain in their familiar, comfortable environment. I prioritize maintaining their normal routines and creating a calm, low-stress presence, and I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible in the home so pets feel safe and at ease while their owners are away.

Heather was beyond amazing. She came for a meet and greet, did drop is when she said she would, and engaged with my dog more than any other sitter I have found on rover. Jesco was happy when we got back from long work days. She sent lots of updates and picture which all pet parents enjoy. Our dog is a senior and I can tell she has the skills, compassion, and love for our old man. Heather is the best!

This was our first time booking with Becca and we could not recommend her more. We have a 1 year old cat, who can be shy at first and she took the time to make him comfortable, including coming for a meet and greet. We were out of the country for 7 days, and did not worry once. The communication and pictures we received were great. She even brought in packages and trash cans for us. When we got home, I think our cat was upset that it wasn’t Becca walking into the house again! We will definitely be booking with Becca again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Pet Sitting in Birmingham on Rover is $26.75 per visit (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Pet Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Pet Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,893 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Birmingham. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Birmingham stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Birmingham. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
