“Marissa is fantastic. She’s always on time and takes my pup on different walking routes all the time to keep him excited and interested. She lets him take his time sniffing around and people watching. We’ve already referred her to other neighbors and friends. 100% recommend!”

About: Throughout my younger years at home beginning in middle school, I have been the neighborhoods pet sitter. Whether it was dog walking, cat sitting, and even duck sitting, I was always happy to help. Growing up I always had a special place in my heart for animals. I had everything ranging from a tortoise to a pet rabbit and of course a dog. Growing up in Santa Cruz, I have always enjoyed having an active lifestyle and love getting outside with both high-energy dogs and senior pets who need a slower pace. As someone who played multiple sports all throughout High School, I have become especially good at my time management skill's especially when others are relying on me. As a second-year Agriculture Business student at Cal Poly, I am a dependable, organized, and committed person who takes jobs seriously. You can expect clear communication, updates with both texts and photos, and someone who will give your pet not just the exercise, but also all the love and attention they need to keep them happy and safe. With a shorter Summer this year, I have a ton of free time and am open to dog walking, house sitting, or if needed just drop-in visits. I am available on pretty much all weekdays as well as all day on weekends. Anytime you need a helping hand you can count on me to be there. During walks your pets safety and comfort is my top priority. I always stay aware of my surroundings especially if your dog is more sensitive to others I will make sure to cross the street or do what’s needed to keep your dog in the best hands possible. I also adjust my pacing based on your dogs energy and comfort levels. I am also comfortable handling big or strong dogs keeping them securely leashed unless instructed otherwise. For drop-in visits or house sitting I always follow instructions carefully making sure to go over anything with you I am not 100% sure about before I begin, in order to maintain your pets routine and minimize stress on your pet. I also respect your home and property as if it were my own and will provide consistent updates and photos so you feel comfortable and confident in your pets safety. I just got done with my Freshman year at Cal Poly and have a ton of time this Summer for dog walking and/ or dog sitting. I take my dog on daily beach walks and hikes as well as throw him the ball daily. I am more than willing to stay at my clients house and take care of their pets.
About: My name is Jana and I am a big time animal lover! I grew up with alaskan malamutes, hermit crabs, freshwater fish, and currently have 2 cats (Mactavish and Charley). I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes, with specifics in senior and large dogs. I currently am on summer break and not working, so my availability is open and super flexible! I am free from 7am-8pm Sunday-Friday! Because I have cats that live at my home, I cannot offer boarding. However, I am happy to do drop-ins at your home. I am always very respectful of the places I visit and can offer whatever care your pet needs.
“Celeste was our regular dog walker for about a year. She's been incredibly in training our dog, caring for her needs, and coming up with new enrichment opportunities. Celeste is great to work with and I would highly recommend her services. She goes above and beyond.”
“Dylan was available to walk Mika on very short notice and was super responsive & friendly. He sent photos and left a great summary of their walk together. I’m sure Mika had lots of fun and definitely trust using his services again!”

“Marley is clearly a dog whisperer. Bruna is a tough cookie and takes long to warm up to people but not with Marley. They were fast friends and she was very attentive to all of Bruna's quirks on their walk.”

About: I have had animals growing up my whole life. I love all types of animals and love being outside! Whether it’s a dog or a cat or even a bunny, I’ve had experience with them all. :) I am free early mornings, midday between 12-30pm and overnight. I have work from 4-10pm most days but free all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. I currently have no animals living at home. I have a backyard that is fenced off with a grass lawn. I am a quick walk to the beach.

Professional Ecologist with wildlife handling, husbandry, and behavior experience. 6 years Professional Veterinary Technician experience at local veterinary hospital. 2 years volunteering at local animal shelter. 30-year Pet Owner. Forever Animal Lover! Pet care naturally fits my daily rhythm—I’m home managing kids and household, so feeding, walks, playtime, and affection easily blend into my weekday routine. I'm home most of the day but will clear any unsupervised time with you if I need to step out of the house for school pick ups or a quick work out. Your pup can come along for the walk/ride or stay at the house until my immediate return. I can pick up Dogs in the Live Oak Neighborhood for Doggie Day Care between 8:30-11am. Weekend availability is more variable depending on what the family plans are. Your pup will enjoy a calm, structured, and caring environment within our family home on a quiet, low-traffic street in a popular walking neighborhood. With a secure courtyard and a spacious, private backyard for play, enrichment, and relaxation, your dog will have plenty of safe space to explore. Boarding pups generally have access to the house with lights out from about 9 pm to 6 am, and a potty walks right before bed and first thing in the morning while my coffee brews. Your pup can count on at least an hour of daily exercise—often more—and will be fed according to your established routine, with fresh water always available. When I’m home, pups are free to roam the house and enclosed courtyard, enjoying companionship and comfort alongside me.

About: I love dogs and I love taking them out and about on walks! I have taken care of many dogs from the age of 2 to 16. My most recent experience includes taking care of senior dogs. I am currently a teacher on summer break so I have lots of time on my hands to dog sit and take dogs on walks! I take care of pets in clients homes by ensuring the dog has all of its needs met. I always make sure to spend extra quality time with the dog if I noticed that it is feeling sad that its owners are away.

About: I have many years of professional pet sitting experience in addition to growing up with pets and caring for family and friends’ animals. I am experienced with small to large breeds, as well as cats, birds and other animals. I am patient and very energetic. I love playing fetch on the beach, going on long walks, hiking, and cuddling at home. I do not currently have a dog or pet of my own so you will not need to worry about your pet getting along with other animals. If I happen to be hosting another pet, I always check with each party before accepting extra clients. I am available to walk dogs several times daily including long walks up to an hour or longer if desired. If your pet gets very dirty from the beach or a hike with me I am happy to bathe them at no additional fee and keep dog shampoo on hand I plan to be with your pet 24/7 while they are in my care unless otherwise discussed in advance. I thoroughly enjoy hosting pets and want them to feel comforted, loved, and entertained. I work part time as a nurse on days I don’t have clients booked. Dogs are allowed on the couch and bed and will be provided with all the snuggling and affection they desire! They have free roam around my one bedroom home. I also have a back patio with a fire pit where we can lounge or play fetch. I’m walking distance to the beach and love taking dogs down to the beach to play or to other nearby beaches for long walks. I play dog videos (squirrels, birds, or other soothing sounds etc) during stays which many dogs seem to be enjoy.

What sets me apart from other sitters is my personalized approach. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, preferences, and routine so they feel safe and comfortable in my care. I’m experienced with basic puppy training, leash manners, and crate training. For older pets, I provide gentle, attentive support—whether that means administering medication, helping with mobility, or simply offering lots of love and companionship. I believe communication is key, so I always keep pet parents updated with photos and notes to ensure peace of mind while you're away. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. “I have asked Mary Ann to help with the care of our family dog twice now and both times she was responsive with booking, cleaning up an accident inside the house, giving meds and showing up in time frames requested. We are really grateful for her help and service.”

“Teresa stayed in contact with me while I was on vacation by sending updates and photographs of my dogs. My vacation was stress-free knowing I had someone so wonderful taking care of my dogs and my house. ”

Sandra was wonderful with my sweetheart tank of a dog...It was their first visit together and I could tell it was a good match. Sandra took my dog for a long walk and knew how to stop her pulling as well as allowed her to sniff. Sandra communicated very well and I'm sure I'll ask for her help again.
Troy did such an awesome job caring for our dog, Diesel. Every day that Troy hung out with Diesel he was totally pooped by the end of the day which was extremely helpful as someone who works full time. Troy was communicative and accommodating to our needs. I couldn't recommend him more!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
