About: Hey there! My name's Mac. I'm 31-years-old and have been around dogs and cats for my entire life. I've owned both and have worked with the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, in Encinitas, CA, as a top-level dog trainer/volunteer (working to train bad habits out of at-risk dogs). While I'm not looking for training gigs currently, I am happy to reinforce good behavior and habits with your animals whenever I'm around. While the pup that is pictured in most of my photos is a friend's, who I dog-sat for many months, I owned my own cattle dog as well and ensured that she was highly trained and exercised regularly. I'm an active person in my day-to-day life and am happy to wear your pup out through: walks, hiking, biking, or short runs. I have many years of experience with housesitting and petsitting and pride myself on respecting your space and treating your home as I would wish mine to be treated. While I love dogs, I'm a big fan of the hairball-producers as well and can guarantee equal cuddles to both! :) I'm currently finishing up my degree at UCSC and have a relatively flexible weekly schedule, which allows me to fill in the gaps with jobs as needed. I'm detail-oriented and will be sure to take your directions and requests seriously. This could be anything from making sure the gate is properly latched after a walk to ensuring that the proper medication is administered at the right dosage. I'm trained in recognizing calming signals in dogs, which indicate how they are reacting to their surroundings and the animals/individuals in it. This helps in noticing when a situation is about to get out of hand between two animals and allows the caregiver the chance to remove the animal from the scene before it becomes unsafe. While this mostly comes in handy during walks or at the dog park, it is also crucial to creating a safe home environment when multiple animals are cohabiting a space.
