Marissa is fantastic. She’s always on time and takes my pup on different walking routes all the time to keep him excited and interested. She lets him take his time sniffing around and people watching. We’ve already referred her to other neighbors and friends. 100% recommend!

About: Throughout my younger years at home beginning in middle school, I have been the neighborhoods pet sitter. Whether it was dog walking, cat sitting, and even duck sitting, I was always happy to help. Growing up I always had a special place in my heart for animals. I had everything ranging from a tortoise to a pet rabbit and of course a dog. Growing up in Santa Cruz, I have always enjoyed having an active lifestyle and love getting outside with both high-energy dogs and senior pets who need a slower pace. As someone who played multiple sports all throughout High School, I have become especially good at my time management skill's especially when others are relying on me. As a second-year Agriculture Business student at Cal Poly, I am a dependable, organized, and committed person who takes jobs seriously. You can expect clear communication, updates with both texts and photos, and someone who will give your pet not just the exercise, but also all the love and attention they need to keep them happy and safe. With a shorter Summer this year, I have a ton of free time and am open to dog walking, house sitting, or if needed just drop-in visits. I am available on pretty much all weekdays as well as all day on weekends. Anytime you need a helping hand you can count on me to be there. During walks your pets safety and comfort is my top priority. I always stay aware of my surroundings especially if your dog is more sensitive to others I will make sure to cross the street or do what’s needed to keep your dog in the best hands possible. I also adjust my pacing based on your dogs energy and comfort levels. I am also comfortable handling big or strong dogs keeping them securely leashed unless instructed otherwise. For drop-in visits or house sitting I always follow instructions carefully making sure to go over anything with you I am not 100% sure about before I begin, in order to maintain your pets routine and minimize stress on your pet. I also respect your home and property as if it were my own and will provide consistent updates and photos so you feel comfortable and confident in your pets safety. I just got done with my Freshman year at Cal Poly and have a ton of time this Summer for dog walking and/ or dog sitting. I take my dog on daily beach walks and hikes as well as throw him the ball daily. I am more than willing to stay at my clients house and take care of their pets.

About: For walks: I'm very experienced at dog waking. I can handle big and small dogs. I can move at any pace on walks including running. I like to let the dog set the pace. I will typically ask owners what commands they use with their dogs so I can help keep them trained and have them heel on walks. I always avoid other dogs just in case. And on hot days I plan my walks in advance and leave water out for the dog on the route before I start the walk. For drop ins and sitting: I will comfort your dog while you are away as well as feeding them, walking them, and playing with them. I can also give medications orally, but I can't inject any medications. I'm currently a student and since all my classes are online, I will have plenty of time for your pets. I'm free every day, but Thursday and I'm not free Saturday after 6pm I will comfort your dog while you are away as well as feeding them, walking them, and playing with them. I can also give medications orally, but I can't inject any medications. I'm great about making sure the house is completely locked up and the key put back in it's place when I'm done.

About: I am currently an owner of two golden retriever/labrador mixes as well as a tabby cat and have four years of experience raising, playing with, taking care of, and walking them. They're both full of unlimited energy and I love them immensely, so I have plenty of experience with bigger, energetic dogs. I also have been picking up local dog sitting jobs over the past year and have experience watching dogs while their owners are away while providing entertainment, play, and care for them. I am currently a college student home for the summer who is free all day Monday-Sunday to help care for, play with, watch, or walk your dogs. I'm looking to pick up some side jobs over the summer to help pay for college expenses and would love to work with your family if our schedules align. I provide personalized care in my client's home so pets can feel comfortable in a familiar space while being attentive and respectful of the space. If provided a schedule regarding walks, feeding, medication, or more I will adhere to it as closely as possible. I can also provide constant communication, photos, and regular updates if needed to ease the owner's anxiety and provide peace of mind and confidence that their pet is safe and getting the utmost care.

About: 10 years of veterinary and hands-on animal care experience and truly enjoy working with all types of dogs. I live with a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd, so I’m very comfortable with large breeds and strong pullers. Over the years, I’ve also cared for cats, chickens, goats, lizards, snakes, hamsters, and many other animals, so I’m comfortable with a wide variety of species and personalities. I prioritize safe, calm, and positive walks, tailoring exercise to each dog’s age, energy, and personality. I can administer medications, including injections like insulin, and I pay close attention to routines, behavior, and special care instructions. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been the one who disappears at parties or events to hang out with the animals, that passion for being around and caring for pets has never left me. I have three young kids and recently transitioned out of a full-time job to focus on pet care, giving me flexible and reliable daytime availability. I’m available most days and times of the week. About: I am a long term animal lover and trainer. 20 years experience with larger dog breeds. I have a flexible schedule and excellent references. Many years experience with Cats too. Will provide care and feeding, exercise and play, grooming and clean up. Can handle multiple pets. rates flexible depending on type of pets, number of pets and if overnight. I have local references upon request. I am currently working part time, so I have lots of flexible time available to spend giving your dogs, cats and farm animals the very best of care! I provide a complete variety of pet services in your home. I am overly cautious about safety in and out of the home. I take extra precautions when walking your dog near other dogs and with allowing pets outdoors where wild predators can be nearby. I am very aware of other dogs and will not allow to approach unless previously known. My availability changes. Sometimes I work remotely from home doing business office support for clients. This affects the type of pet care assignments that I may accept due to logistics and pet needs. I care for pets in your home only and take dogs on outings and employ daily frequent play and walks. Your pets get lots of attention!

About: I have been caring for animals all of my life. I have pet/house sat for many friends, family members and neighbors throughout my life. I am told that I bring a soothing, calm presence that puts both humans and animals at ease. I deeply love animals. I am a naturally neat person so I will also keep your home clean and bring in mail, water plants, etc. I am highly responsible and retired from doing hospice work. I do grief support remote work on a part time basis. I am in great health, a meditator since high school and highly experienced in caring for all types of pets. If you choose me to care for your beloved pets and home, I will make sure that they feel safe, comfortable and nurtured and will give them all the play, exercise and attention they desire. I am local so am able to meet with you beforehand to ensure it is a good fit. I work remotely using my own phone on a part time basis providing grief support to people so I can accept pet/house sitting gigs. I can physically be there to help your animal companions feel safe and secure while you are away. I am specifically looking for housesitting/petsitting gigs. In a client's home, I make sure that I adhere to the schedule already set by the owners. I find that this helps animals with anxiety about their human companions being away. I also provide calm, loving presence which helps them feel comfortable and secure. I take them for walks, play, snuggle, basically whatever they do regularly with their humans. But I also respect boundaries, for instance, I snuggle with pets only if they initiate it and/or are into it. I deeply love animals and can easily tune into their needs and wants.

I have a strong German Shepherd (Rosie) and, although trained, I would worry about an inexperienced person taking the reigns. I had never considered a sitter before but an injury meant I needed help walking her for a couple of weeks. Any worries were soon allayed. Shawna took such good care of Rosie, that she now beats her tail with absolute delight when she spots Shawna. I found Shawna to be a very capable person who is control, made it fun, and kept my dog safe.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
