“I was really nervous about leaving my pup for a week. I met David before leaving and he gave my dog a lot of love and pets when they met and he clearly had so much love for dogs, which made me feel a lot better. He has experience with anxious dogs and is very kind. He was very responsible and always sent pictures and responded right away to my texts while I was gone. I will definitely be requesting his services again!”

“Jaden was great with Apollo! Last-minute, I ended up needing a dog walker, and Jaden was super communicative and flexible, which I really appreciated. She gave a detailed report and several pictures, which I really appreciated! She was great at following my instructions. Should I need a dog walker again, I'll definitely reach out to Jaden!”

“Skye , is a lovely professional dog walker. My dog Scooby warmed up to her right away. After just a few days of service Scooby is now very excited to see her knowing a good walk is on the way. He can tell she’s an animal person. Skye is easy to communicate with, friendly and very professional. Can’t say enough of what a find skye is on rover. Happy new customer, highly recommend!”
“Marley is clearly a dog whisperer. Bruna is a tough cookie and takes long to warm up to people but not with Marley. They were fast friends and she was very attentive to all of Bruna's quirks on their walk.”

“Marissa is fantastic. She’s always on time and takes my pup on different walking routes all the time to keep him excited and interested. She lets him take his time sniffing around and people watching. We’ve already referred her to other neighbors and friends. 100% recommend!”

“Celeste was our regular dog walker for about a year. She's been incredibly in training our dog, caring for her needs, and coming up with new enrichment opportunities. Celeste is great to work with and I would highly recommend her services. She goes above and beyond.”
About: I have been around and caring for dogs since I was a little girl and have always held a special place in my heart for them. Throughout my life I have owned dogs as well as been trusted by friends and family to care for their animals when they are unable to do so. I live in an urban but quiet environment where I am able to take dogs for all kinds of walks- whether it be filled with hills or a flat sidewalk; and my apartment will be a comforting "home away from home" for your dog. I think dogs deserve the utmost amount of love, yet I still know how to be authoritative and care for them correctly. Overall, I simply enjoy being around dogs and all types of animals and feel caring for them is something that comes very natural to me. I work remotely from home during the week and can tend to animals at any point during the day, as well as on the weekends. I live in a condo with immediate access to outside. I will provide love and attention based on preference of the animal given to my by the owner.
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pups of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I grew up with dogs and have always considered them part of the family. I currently volunteer with the SPCA, where I help care for and support dogs in need. I’ve also fostered dogs through the SPCA, giving them a safe, loving home while they wait for their forever families. In addition to volunteering, I’ve worked as a trusted dog sitter and walker for families in the area. Whether it’s daily walks, overnight stays, or hosting dogs in my home while their families are away, I make sure every pup feels comfortable, safe, and loved. I understand that every dog is unique, and I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and quirks. I’m happy to share as many updates as you’d like throughout the day, complete with photos and stories from our adventures! Whether we’re exploring local trails, enjoying playtime, or just relaxing at home, your dog will receive attentive, reliable, and affectionate care. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! 🐾 I am currently working a hybrid schedule, often from home and get to all day at home when I am taking care of pets. I tend to go on at least one hike a week. I love exploring new areas in Santa Cruz. I have a small fenced yard for breaks outside when at home. I typically take dogs on 2-3 walks a day. I keep my phone available for contact while with your pet.
About: Lifelong cat lover at your service! I’ve had cats my whole life and truly understand their unique personalities, quirks, and cuddles. Whether your kitty is shy, playful, or just wants a lap to nap on, I’ll treat them like one of my own. Reliable, loving care while you’re away — because your cat deserves the best! I have recently taken a break from my full time job and my schedule is fully open to take care of your little kitties for when you need an extra hand. I know how hard it can be to leave your beloved cat behind — that’s why I care for every kitty like they’re my own. With a lifetime of loving and living with cats, I’ll make sure your fur baby feels safe, comforted, and adored while you’re away. Whether they need playtime, quiet company, or extra snuggles, I’ll be there to give them all the love (and treats!) they deserve.
About: Safe house, attentive company, and dependable care giver with professional husbandry, pet sitting, behavior, and veterinary experience to tend to your Best Bud when life calls. Confident, compassionate care for senior and special-needs dogs. Plenty of playtime and exercise to tire out high-energy pups. Engaging, creative enrichment to keep every mind happy and active. Professional Ecologist with wildlife handling, husbandry, and behavior experience. 6 years Professional Veterinary Technician experience at local veterinary hospital. 2 years volunteering at local animal shelter. 30-year Pet Owner. Forever Animal Lover! Pet care naturally fits my daily rhythm—I’m home managing kids and household, so feeding, walks, playtime, and affection easily blend into my weekday routine. I'm home most of the day but will clear any unsupervised time with you if I need to step out of the house for school pick ups or a quick work out. Your pup can come along for the walk/ride or stay at the house until my immediate return. I can pick up Dogs in the Live Oak Neighborhood for Doggie Day Care between 8:30-11am. Weekend availability is more variable depending on what the family plans are. Your pup will enjoy a calm, structured, and caring environment within our family home on a quiet, low-traffic street in a popular walking neighborhood. With a secure courtyard and a spacious, private backyard for play, enrichment, and relaxation, your dog will have plenty of safe space to explore. Boarding pups generally have access to the house with lights out from about 9 pm to 6 am, and a potty walks right before bed and first thing in the morning while my coffee brews. Your pup can count on at least an hour of daily exercise—often more—and will be fed according to your established routine, with fresh water always available. When I’m home, pups are free to roam the house and enclosed courtyard, enjoying companionship and comfort alongside me.

“Shylynn is great. When I was walking Maggie the other morning I ran into a neighbor with her dog and she told how lovely she thought Shylynn was. In the pictures Shylynn sends me, Maggie always looks like she's really enjoying herself ”

“Ava walked my two small dogs over a period of 8 days while I was out of town. She has a calm energy and I could tell the dogs liked her when they met her. My only feedback is that she was inconsistent with the agreed upon pick up times, but whenever I messaged her she responded quickly.”

“Isabella was great with my dog Alfie! He’s a big guy and also recently rescued and he instantly loved her. We did the first walk together so she could see the routine and some of his quirks which was really helpful!”
“I have asked Mary Ann to help with the care of our family dog twice now and both times she was responsive with booking, cleaning up an accident inside the house, giving meds and showing up in time frames requested. We are really grateful for her help and service.”

About: My entire family love animals so I have had a variety of pets throughout my life. I have had fish, a dog, a cat, and a turtle! I love pets and I would love to help others with theirs!!! I dog sit for my family members when they need me to. As a student I have a lot of flexibility in my day to day schedule to take care of pets! My longest classes are an hour and half. I make sure there’s spaces in my schedule to have time to check in on the pets I’m caring for. I care for pets in a very caring way, I am very patient and calm. I try to feel the pets vibe so I match their energy and not overwhelm them. I would say I am also a very playful person if the pet is open to play.
About: Growing up, I was lucky to share my life with a wide variety of animals, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. Dogs have been a constant part of my life, and they truly hold a special place in my heart. Beyond caring for my own pups, I’ve also had the joy of house sitting and looking after friends’ pets over the years. I’m deeply passionate about animals, and I take the responsibility of their care very seriously. With a lifetime of hands-on experience, I would be genuinely excited and honored to care for someone else’s dog. You can trust that I’ll treat them with the same love, attention, and devotion I give my own. I work from home so I am available to watch your animals any day of the week. This also allows me to provide drop-ins anytime. Because I work from home I can take care of your animal in your home. This helps to ensure they are comfortable in their own space.

Jared was great with my dogs and very quick to respond as well as proactive with scheduling and communication. My dogs were very happy when he met them and were nice and tired after their walk. Jared also listened well and followed my instructions. I will definitely have Jared come back!

Sandra was wonderful with my sweetheart tank of a dog...It was their first visit together and I could tell it was a good match. Sandra took my dog for a long walk and knew how to stop her pulling as well as allowed her to sniff. Sandra communicated very well and I'm sure I'll ask for her help again.
Anna was wonderful in taking my dog, Haley, for walks when I was laid up with an issue with my foot. Anna let me know when she was on the way over, very on time, super nice upon meeting, great with introducing to my dog Haley and engaging with Haley, very sweet. I so appreciated Anna's help and would definitely reach out to Anna again when I need help.

Troy did such an awesome job caring for our dog, Diesel. Every day that Troy hung out with Diesel he was totally pooped by the end of the day which was extremely helpful as someone who works full time. Troy was communicative and accommodating to our needs. I couldn't recommend him more!!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
