About: I've cared for pets since I was 12. Growing up in a family with so many different critters has given me such a deep connection to caring for animals. “Nora is a GIFT! About a year ago my now 14 year-old cat Riley abruptly lost a significant amount of weight and bloodwork showed some kind of significant liver event though nothing was evident in an XRAY or ultrasound. He was prescribed two ongoing medications to support his liver & reduce inflammation; a small pill that needs to absorb during a fast (no food for 2 hours before and 1 hour after) and a liquid medication that needs to be given with food. In addition to the with/without food medications complexity, successfully pilling a cat every day requires a deft hand—pretty straightforward for someone who’s good at it, increasingly difficult each day for anyone who isn’t. Add to the equation both Riley and his brother Ash are initially shy with strangers. All things considered to me the situation seemed like a complicated ask for a pet sitter, so over the past year I hadn’t gone away on any trips longer than 2-3 days. In the face of a terminal illness diagnosis in my direct family I came to terms with having to hope for the best using a pet sitter for an 8 day family vacation though I was very concerned about how Riley would be affected by the extended change in routine. Enter Nora; highly intelligent, highly *attuned* (to the pets & the people), instantly trustworthy, and very gracious, a rare combination of total professionalism & grounded compassion. Though Nora was only here for about an hour each day her presence *visibly improved* Riley’s health. I didn’t know it was possible to come home from being away for 8 days to find Riley noticeably fluffier and more energetic than when I left, but that’s the magic that unfolded under Nora’s care. She also sent me pictures of Riley and Ash every day and let me know how they were each doing, sharing her sophisticated curiosity & creativity getting Riley to eat more and Ash to gradually come out of his shyness with clear warmth towards both of them. It’s extremely clear Nora *truly cares* and is keenly observant and exceptionally competent, a combination that made it possible for me to relax so much more on my trip. About: I have had experience with feeding my friends and neighbors cats when they were away on vacation, but nothing professional. I do not have any training skills, but have dealt with temperamental cats who do not like sharing their space. I have had dogs and cats in my family since I was a child. Roland loved them and they did very well with his exuberant greetings. We’ve only met for a meet and greet but I feel comfortable that they can handle the job and will review again after some walks and overnights.
We LOVE Melanie! As former pet sitters ourselves, our standards are pretty high— none of the other Rover sitters we’d tried in the past had quite met them until Melanie! We unexpectedly had to delay our trip by a day because we got sick. Melanie promptly accommodated this change and sent along such a thoughtful message. We knew right away we were dealing with a true professional! Melanie’s attentiveness stood out right from our meet-and-greet. She didn't just ask what our cats' favorite toys were—she asked how they each liked to play with their toys. We showed Melanie our cat Plum's exercise wheel and mentioned that her favorite way to use it is with someone jogging alongside her. We never expected a sitter to adopt our silly little routine, but Melanie jogged next to her at every visit! It was no surprise to hear that Plum was greeting Melanie at the door and rubbing against her for pets by the end of our time away. Our other cat, Lyra, is a little more wary of new people, but Melanie is extremely well versed in cat body language and boundaries, and took that into account when interacting with the less-trusting Lyra. Even if Lyra wasn’t fully on board with the whole “new person” idea, she still chose to hang out nearby Melanie at all of her visits, which told us she felt safe. As anxious pet owners, we like updates that are as detailed as possible with lots of pictures. Melanie delivered in spades, providing sweet and thoughtful visit summaries with 25+ photos per visit. Her summaries went beyond the basic tasks of the visit— she let us know how our cats greeted her, how much they were eating, if they wanted pets, what toys they played with, and her sense how our babies were doing overall. Most importantly, she let us know they were LOVED. We look forward to hiring Melanie again soon!
Nicole took care of my cats when I had to go out of town last minute for Memorial Day weekend. She arrived each evening to feed them, clean the litter box, play, and fill their waters. She was prompt and kept everything clean, and she even got my super shy kitty to come out and play & made sure he ate! I would definitely recommend booking Nicole if you need pet care.

Yuliya is definitely a cat person, and our cats took to her right away! Our older cat Plum can be a little prickly if overstimulated, so seeing pictures of her rubbing up against Yuliya’s leg made me feel secure that my cat felt comfortable and safe. We also loved seeing photos of our younger, more active cat Lyra getting plenty of play time and affection. She understood and expressed the importance of routines for cats, especially when their people are away, and her care for our cats reflected that. Our cats have a fairly complicated food routine, and Yuliya did well adhering to it. Part way through our trip, she noticed that one of our cat’s food was running low, let us know, and even measured out how many portions were left to ensure there would be enough to last the rest of our trip. We are the type of cat owners who appreciate very detailed visit summaries, and it would’ve been great to have had a little more of that, but we did receive lots of photos and enough written updates to feel that our cats were in safe and caring hands. Makayla was a great sitter. She sent me pictures which really helped me while I was out of town. She gave my cat the space he needed and he felt very comfortable going about his routine with her. He had 3 times a day feedings with special instructions to open windows for him and let him go on my porch when she got there so he can eat grass and get a little fresh air.
