“We would highly recommend using Chris, Amy, and the boys to watch your animals!! Our pup was SO well cared for and loved during her first stay with them and we could tell by just how comfortable and happy she was in their home when we dropped her off and picked her up. Amy sent us lots of pictures and videos of our dog having the time of her life. They gave her all the exercise she needs as a big dog, gave her her daily medication (eye drops), and lots of love and attention. We will for sure be using this family again for our next trip away!”

“Bill and Gerrie are 2 lovely genuine people who in our absence have looked after our 2 furry family members in such a way that we are free to enjoy ourselves without worry or guilt. The personal and individual attention our dogs had during the home environment stay was great. Communication has been great throughout and we received regular updates and pictures of them both having a wonderful holiday of their own with Bill and Gerrie. We 100% recommend them both as wonderful sitters and have already booked another sitting with them going forward.”

“Rachel is absolutely amazing! She took care of our dogs in her home for an entire week while we were out of the country, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we dropped them off, we knew they were in excellent hands. Rachel kept us updated daily with messages and photos, showing how much fun the dogs were having and how well they were being cared for. It was clear they felt right at home, and Rachel treated them like part of her own family. We’re so grateful for Rachel’s exceptional care and attention to detail. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving pet sitter. She truly went above and beyond!”

“Amanda and her son were the best we could find for Simba when we want to vacation. My puppy had a blast and even missed them when he was back with us. Amanda kept in touch with us daily while we were away, giving us updates and sending us pictures. Amanda is highly recommended if you looking for a dog sitter.”

“Our lovely Gus spent 3 days with Neil. Since he’s still a puppy, he naturally requires more responsibility, but Neil did an amazing job. He updated me every 2–3 hours and sent photos, so we never had to worry about our little boy. He didn’t just take care of Gus, he also gave him love and attention. When we came to pick him up, seeing Gus not wanting to leave Neil and running after him showed once again how well he was cared for. Thank you so much, Neil. Gus may have tired you out a little, but as you know, he’s wonderful :) Looking forward to seeing you again!”

“Lisa was fantastic with Artemis! She was on time, and clearly gave Artemis great care; regular walks kept her active and happy. What really stood out was Lisa noticing when we were running low on dog food and offering to pick up more in case we were running late. She also gave us multiple touchpoints throughout our trip, which we appreciated. We highly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog sitter!”

“Angela and her husband did a great job looking after my dog for over two weeks during the Christmas holidays. My pup returned home happy and healthy, which really put my mind at ease. I'm grateful for their good care.”

“We left our little boy with them for a couple of days, and they did an excellent job. He made a new friend with their dog, looked really happy when we picked him up, and we had good communication throughout. Thank you so much”

About: What sets me apart is my hands-on experience with animals of all kinds. I worked with horses for five years and have spent the last three years working with and around dogs. I also raised and trained my own dog from puppyhood, who is now a government-certified service dog. That journey taught me patience, consistency, and how to understand each animal’s unique needs. I treat every pet as if they were my own, focusing on their safety, comfort, and happiness while you’re away. Pet care is part of my daily routine through walks, enrichment, training, and personalized care. I prioritize consistency, reliability, and giving every pet individual attention. I provide attentive, personalized care in every home. With parks, trails, and Beacon Hill nearby, pets enjoy safe walks, enrichment, playtime, and plenty of affection.
“Leroy had an excellent stay with Allan and his family. I received beautiful photos of their outdoor adventures, and regular updates. My pup came home happy and well cared for. I highly recommend Allan's pet sitting services.”

“April was wonderful and I would highly recommend her to anyone I know. She had excellent communication, she was flexible with our schedule, and she provided great little updates/pictures on our pups. We’re excited to see her again in the future.”
“Responsive, lots of photos of my pup, very kind and helped me out when my flight got delayed by watching the dog another night last minute. Highly recommend for boarding and would happily have them watch my pup again :)”

“Audrey was absolutely amazing!!! She did a meet and greet at a park before booking, which I super appreciated, and then was easy to communicate with and sent lots of pictures and updates throughout her stay!!! I’m an anxious dog parent so having her look after Roxy and treat her as her own was perfect. I absolutely would book her again!!!!!”

“Dwight watched my boxer Guinness and my sister's toy poodle. He is excellent with both: a big dog and a small one. Our boxer had long walks and he loved chilling in the backyard. Both dogs got royal treatment :). I highly recommend Dwight. Both him and his wife are very welcoming and I had zero reservations leaving our dogs with them. Do not even hesitate booking him!”

“Alexa took super care of my cat Remi, she sent me pictures all the time and supplied a litter box as well as a bunch of other stuff. She made the process super easy and personable. I would highly recommend using her. Thanks again Alexa!”

“Kristina was fabulous with our dog. She sent us so many photos and we knew he was in such good care. She was very communicative and went above and beyond in client service. Thank you Kristina!”

About: I worked in pet shops and clinics back in Brazil, had two cats on my own, and I love animals since I was a child. I enjoy spend calm time with animals, playing and walking. I work at evenings shifts and my partner work from home. I can walk animals before my other job and can look after them at home. I live in a condo and can spare a room for the animal if it needs more space. I can walk long distances. I would prefer to walk only one or two animals at a time.
About: I grew up with at minimum 4 dogs at all times, ranging from Border collies, to Shepard mixes, to Jack Russell and fox terriers. I learned from a young age the best way to train dogs specific to their breeds and personalities and I have lots of experience caring for pups from the day they were born into old age. I understand the importance of exercise, routine and play for our furry friends. I say I have 7 years of experience caring for pets, but really it is 30+ years at this point, the 7 years comes from a boom in friends getting dogs and the beginning of me taking care of their pets when they go on vacation, have family/medical emergencies etc. I live less than a block from a park that is off-leash-optional (the park has a cute communal dog toy box also) and I live in a quiet neighbourhood where I can stroll with your pup on-leash for exercise if that is preferred. I also carry my own pups to designated off leash areas where they can run forest trails with me, or just hike around. Depending on your pups needs and what you and I discuss, play/exercise time for your pup may involve all three. My home has a fenced in back yard which is great for toilet breaks and serves as a play area also, if your pup is so inclined :) I have two pups of my own, a Border Collie and a Wire Haired Griffon, both friendly gals, the Border Collie is becoming a senior gal and generally pays no attention to other dogs past an introductory sniff, the Griffon is 4 years old and loves to play if your pup is willing, if not, no issues, she is not forceful in anyway. I can say with confidence that your pups will be in safe hands, well taken care of and loved while I am looking after them. I work a flexible schedule from my home office. My doggy caring day typically starts with at least a 30 - 40 min neighbour hood walk before 8:00 am. Backyard toilet and exercise breaks around 10:00. 30 - 40 min neighbourhood/park lunch walk around noon. More toilet/stretch the legs breaks around 2:00. Off-leash Forest walk around 4:30/5:00 (Or on-leash depending on the pup, and if a forest walk doesn't suit, then more time in the beautiful neighbourhood often heading to a larger fenced in municipal park about 10 mins walk away) Obviously, meals are given as per your pups schedule and lots of treats throughout the day (unless you tell me not to) I have a fully fenced in back yard, with two friendly pups for company for your pup. The house itself is very dog friendly, pups are allowed onto the couch, but not the beds or other furniture. There are many dog beds in various rooms for pooches to sleep in as they wish. When walking/exercising your dog, I will only walk your dog on-leash in the neighborhood and in any area that is not well fenced in. If your dog is reactive, timid, has any health concerns we can discuss and I will be sure to adjust my routine around those needs. I will do exactly what you ask of me when it comes to feeding, play, keeping your pup on-leash, treats etc. Should the unlikely happen and I need to bring your dog to a vet unexpectedly, I will have your contact details, your vets contact details and I live within 5 mins drive of the emergency vet hospital. Your pup will be well looked after.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Oak Bay
Olivia was great - I was confident that our dog, Ellie, was in good hands. I received regular images and updates to know things were going well. Ellie is very shy, and this can be tricky for sitters that don't appreciate that, but Olivia was great about understanding Ellie's needs, giving her a safe space, and getting her out of the house to nearby parks to explore.

My wife and I recently left our Obi with Lucas for a long weekend. It was our first foray into the world of Rover and we were not disappointed. Lucas was extremely professional from start to finish. He clearly loves animals of all types and we wouldn't hesitate using his services again.

Stacey is our go-to sitter for our corgi Valkyrie. Val has been enough times that at the most recent drop-off, she didn't even look back at us when we left haha. She always has a really good time, and my spouse and I have peace of mind knowing our dog is getting great care from someone we trust.

We had a wonderful experience with Suzanne while we were away for 10 days. She sent us plenty of photos and updates, which gave us great peace of mind and let us follow along with all of our dog’s fun adventures. Our dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. We would happily book with her again!

We could tell Millie had a great time with McKenna! Millie can be indifferent at best and anxious at worst with new people, and McKenna, with her experience with reactive dogs, was patient and calm with her. Great communication and frequent updates too. We were so comfortable with McKenna looking after Millie that we rebooked her immediately before her current stay was over.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
