“Lauren was super helpful with our anxious dog. She allowed us to visit prior to our vacation, to help get Roo more comfortable, and provided lots of updates during Roo's stay. We are very thankful to Lauren for looking after our pup so kindly. Roo can't wait for her next visit!”

“Amelia and Thomas were great. They gave thorough updates with photos so we knew Zoey was doing well and in great hands. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again.”

“Shravistha was incredibly responsive, kind, and flexible during a stressful moment in our trip to Victoria. As travelers with a dog, we suddenly found ourselves in a difficult situation late at night, and her quick communication and willingness to help gave us real peace of mind. Even though our plans changed afterward, we truly appreciated her understanding and support. Highly recommend!”

About: I grew up on the countryside of Courtenay, BC, where my family bred purebred Labrador Retrievers. From a young age I was hands-on with every part of their care- walking, feeding, bathing, and playing. Since moving to Victoria in 2022, I’ve continued doing what I love by looking after the dogs of friends, neighbours, and family. I’m an active person who genuinely enjoys being outdoors- you’ll often find me hiking Thetis Lake or taking an evening stroll along Dallas Road. While I don’t currently have a dog of my own, my lifelong experience with animals means your pet will always be in knowledgeable, caring hands. I work Monday- Friday, 9AM-5PM. My evenings are quite always free for an evening walk, and when I am not going to visit family up island, I have weekends free to get outside! I live on a quiet street in Vic West, with a fenced yard. I am very close to bike paths, trails, and the ocean. I am comfortable crating your pet, or having them on my couch/bed.
About: I’ve had pets all my life both cats and dogs ; I’ve fostered kittens for pet stores. I currently have a Maltese mini poodle who is 10 yo. I have flexibility as I work remotely as a consultant. I’m home everyday so can easily care for the needs of your pet with walks nearby. I have a Maltese mini poodle named merry who is very gentle , aged 10. I’m in a house with both a front and back yard and many trails nearby for walks.
“Our lovely Gus spent 3 days with Neil. Since he’s still a puppy, he naturally requires more responsibility, but Neil did an amazing job. He updated me every 2–3 hours and sent photos, so we never had to worry about our little boy. He didn’t just take care of Gus, he also gave him love and attention. When we came to pick him up, seeing Gus not wanting to leave Neil and running after him showed once again how well he was cared for. Thank you so much, Neil. Gus may have tired you out a little, but as you know, he’s wonderful :) Looking forward to seeing you again!”

“Stephanie was very kind in assisting us to sea plane while picking up our dog. She followed our wishes and was on time and dependable with our pet. Highly recommend!”

“Amazing! Highly recommended, was in a pinch for safe boarding for my Dane and after four days Hendrix came home and slinked upstairs to our bed to pass out for 5hrs. Will be making this our primary for additional care. Highly recommended!!”

“We were very happy to have been able to find Lisa during our trip to Vancouver Island. It is so great to have this service while visiting!! She took great care of our pups!”

“First time boarding our pup Louis and I was very comfortable leaving him in the care of Iris. She is so kind and lovely and my pup loved her. Iris took Louis out for walks everyday and sent me photos of him on their adventures and napping on her lap. Her home is very nice with a beautiful fully secured yard. Have already booked our next visit with Iris.”

“Lisa, Craig and their daughter were great with our Pom Roxy for the two night stay! They gave her all her meds and lots of love and attention while we were away. We would recommend them to anyone, they clearly love dogs and take great care to incorporate them into their family.”

“Allan was a great sitter for Loki. He sent me photos, was flexible and I felt totally at ease on my vacation knowing Loki was well cared for! Totally recommend Allan for pet sitting 🤗”

“I am a return client and my dog Charlie always has a good time with them. Good communication and they were able to accommodate a short notice request. Glad to have found a great sitter :)”

“It was so handy to have Melissa pick up our little guy at a very last minute request. She and her son were friendly, understanding, and very helpful with updates and photos provided. I was so busy during that time our pooch was away, but she made me feel very supported. He came home very happy!”

“Kathy has looked after my dog Bella numerous times. She is prompt with communication, a responsible sitter, and ensures Bella gets adequate exercise and attention. I would highly recommend her for all of your dog sitting needs.”

Natalie was great!! Super easy communication and very flexible about drop off and pickup. Milo is a quirky dog and Natalie was very easy with him. She sent pictures of their adventures and stayed in touch throughout Milo’s stay. Milo did not seem stressed or anxious and I would absolutely book Natalie again. Highly recommend.

Rizzo had a great time with Emerald! Communication the entire time was super easy and she sent great updates and pics of my girl 😊 I felt really comfortable leaving my pup with her and she came back tired and happy from some big walks! I would definitely book Emerald again if I am in the area! This was my first time using Rover to have Rizzo stay overnight and it was a really great experience. Thanks again Emerald!!

Kaori took such wonderful care of my cat, Phillip, during his very first time away from home. She was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive, and she kept me updated with messages and photos every day, which gave me so much peace of mind. Phillip is usually shy in new environments, but thanks to Kaori's gentle care, he adapted so well. It was clear that she truly cared about his comfort and happiness. I couldn't have asked for a better cat sitter. I highly recommend Kaori to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and genuinely amazing with cats. Thank you so much, Kaori, for taking such great care of my precious Phillip!

Kirsten and Guy were amazing. Such a warm and welcoming home for both furry ones and their human owners. Their 5 year old dog ,Rory, was also a gracious host, sharing his home and being an on-call playmate. We left Sandy with Kirsten and Guy for 4 night while we attended our daughter's wedding on Pender Island. We received daily updates and pictures making our time away from Sandy worry free. Thank you Kirsten, Guy, and Rory!!!!

Angela was super helpful and attentive even before I officially booked with her, which gave me a lot of confidence from the start. Both Angela and her partner were great with Rico, and he seemed to really enjoy his time with them too. I’d definitely recommend them and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again!

Aurora was the perfect sitter for my pup while I was off backpacking for a week. She was home during the days and brought my pup on beach and trail adventures every day - exactly the care she needs! She was the perfect fit for my pup who is a bit older, weary of other dogs, and very attached to humans. She made her feel loved and safe by giving her a lot of care and attention. I could tell by the photos that Aurora sent and when picking up my pup that she had a great time! I appreciate how flexible, timely, and communicative Aurora was from booking all the way to pickup. Will definitely book with her again next time I need a sitter near Victoria!
We recently left our dog with Lauren for 2 whole weeks! We'd never left her this long with anyone and it was our first time using a Rover sitter for her. Lauren put us at ease by making time to meet with her long before we booked. We were invited into her home and shown her backyard, time to chat and ask questions. One of my main concerns in leaving our dog was that she has a gastro issue and therefore needs to eat multiple smaller meals throughout the day. The questions she had for us indicated a level of care, experience and dedication that I hadn’t seen in meeting previous Rover sitters. Anyone who has a fur baby knows its not easy to leave them with someone. It can cause a lot of anxiety for us humans, as well as our little ones. We were so happy with the care and love Lauren provided to her. She sent us multiple updates a day with amazing photos, which put our minds at ease. We were also in a different time zone, and Lauren still ensured we were kept up to date. Our pup enjoyed her own vacation, meeting new dog friends for walks and Lauren let her sleep in the bed! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lauren to anyone looking for someone to care for their animals and can't praise her enough! I think they developed a sweet bond and we are so grateful. Thank you so much again, Lauren!

A very loving, gentle and caring sitter. Someone who I can be stress free with when I leave my dog with them! They were very accommodating and thoughtful when it came to specific needs and overall care. Always communicative and kept me well updated during my dogs sitting period. 100% would rebook with her, she was just an amazing and easy person for dog sitting.

Shravistha and her husband took such wonderful care of my two senior dogs. They were both incredibly warm, kind, and accommodating from start to finish. My older dog has been with me her whole life and is quite comfortable with dog sitters, and she had a lovely time with them. My newer dog was having her very first overnight stay with pet sitters, and S and her husband went above and beyond to help her feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in a new environment. They kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear that both dogs were receiving lots of attention, care, and affection. When I picked them up, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I would absolutely recommend Shravistha to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter. Thank you both for taking such great care of my girls!

erry took wonderful care of our 15-year-old dog for nearly two weeks. Our senior girl had special feeding requirements and some newly diagnosed medical issues that required extra attention, and Terry handled everything with care, patience, and professionalism. We especially appreciated the regular updates and photos, which helped us stay connected and reassured that our dog was happy and well cared for while we were away. Knowing Terry was paying such close attention to her needs allowed us to fully enjoy our trip without worrying. We are incredibly grateful for the care Terry provided and would not hesitate to book with her again. Highly recommended!

Can’t really say enough about Agnes. Our nervous, allergy affected dog just loves her, as do we. Maggie is so well cared for when we leave her for a week with Agnes. Our directions are followed carefully, lots of fun walks and loads of love & affection at home. Highly recommend Agnes (& the added bonus of Agnes’ equally attentive and caring daughter!!)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
