Maia was fantastic! She took such great care of my cat Freddy and our 3-month-old kitten Penelope over the weekend! She followed our routine perfectly, sent regular updates and adorable photos, and it was clear they were in great hands! We came home to two happy, relaxed cats. Would absolutely book with her again. Thanks so much, Maia!

Alexander arrived on time and communicated throughout the stay. The house was tidy upon our return. Alexander put in additional effort by watering our plants when he noticed they were drooping and refilled my hummingbird feeders. Our two dogs were well cared for and we are sure they barely noticed we weren’t around!

Rejan was a wonderful caregiver for our puppy Toby! She was very communicative, responded quickly, and sent pictures! She also came for a short visit before our booking to meet Toby and get to know our house before our trip, which we really appreciated. She brought her lovely dog Jasper for the dog sitting and Toby just loved playing and walking with Jasper. He was a tired and happy pup when we got home! Thank you so much Rejan!!

Maddy was wonderful with River. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about making sure he felt comfortable and well looked after. I appreciated the updates and photos, and it gave me real peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. River seemed happy and relaxed when I got home, which says a lot. I would absolutely recommend Maddy to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy dog walker or sitter.

Highly recommend Polina! First time entrusting Letty with someone she's never met and on very short notice due to a family emergency. Polina put me at ease with her calm energy and immediate comfort around Letty. She provided regular updates and great photos on various walks around the neighbourhood. Came back to a very happy, chill Letty and home.

Kate absolutely nailed it with the pet-sit! She watched my bunny and cockatiel, and I'm sure parents of exotics know that it can be nerve-wracking to leave our critters alone for a trip. Kate did an awesome job, was super communicative, made such a big effort even just in the meet and greet, and it showed in how happy and well taken care of everything was when I came home. House? Perfectly cared for, even cleaner than when I left it! Pets? Happy and healthy when I came back, which is all I could ever hope for! They can be quite the handful and I was so impressed with how she handled everyone. My anxiety in leaving the pets with someone new? Handled and then some- got a ton of cute pictures and she truly could not have made the process any easier for me. Kate is fantastic and I would 100% recommend her services to anyone with a critter to be watched- be it cat, dog, bunny, bird, or anything in between.

Coralie, provided excellent care and love for my dog waffles. Coralie did a couple of long hikes which he loves and they appeared to bond , to the point where he actually slept in her room, which is highly unusual for a Waffle. Coralie was very good at communicating and sending me updates. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. I am presently on a cruise so my daughter picked waffle up yesterday and was very impressed with Coralie as well and the house was immaculate. I cannot recommend Coralie enough!

About: Hi there! We are Allison and Tarun! We’re an active, reliable, dog-loving couple offering boarding and daycare in the Hillside area. What makes us a great fit: - Two attentive caregivers (lots of supervision & flexibility) - Active lifestyle with daily walks (trail access right outside our door) - Calm, structured home environment, with individualized care and attention A little about us: I previously worked at a dog daycare in Vancouver, where I gained hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages and temperaments, including high-energy and more reactive dogs. My partner of 11 years, Tarun is a life-long dog-lover and outdoor adventure seeker looking to explore more of the island. Tarun and I also had a husky together, Loki, who sadly passed away in September, we truly understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your pup. We both genuinely miss having a dog around and we would love to be able to provide the same level of care and attention to your pup as we did with our Loki. Hope to hear from you soon, we'd love to meet you! I work part-time mostly in the evenings, while my partner works full-time during the day, so between the two of us there is almost always someone home. On the rare occasions we are both working, your dog would typically be alone for no more than three hours at a time. I’m home during the day and love getting outside as much as I can, so going on walks and spending time outdoors are a big part of the routine. My partner works at MEC and usually craves time outdoors when he's not at work and he's definitely been missing having a trail buddy! Dogs in our care can expect regular walks, fresh air, and plenty of love and attention. Overall, our schedule allows us to provide a balanced mix of activity, supervision, and downtime, and we’re happy to adapt to each dog’s specific needs and routine. Safety and comfort are a top priority in our home. We provide a calm, clean, and well-supervised environment where dogs can relax and feel at ease. Our space is open concept, which allows us to keep a close eye on dogs at all times. Dogs are welcome on the couch for cuddles if they would like, we also have a dog bed and blankets if they would prefer. We have rugs throughout the home to help prevent slipping, especially for senior dogs or those with mobility issues. Our flooring is durable and easy to clean, so we’re not concerned about the occasional mess and can focus on keeping your dog comfortable instead. Outdoor time is always supervised, and walks are done securely on leash. With trail access just steps from our door, your pup will get regular exercise in a safe and peaceful neighbourhood. With two of us at home, there’s always a high level of supervision, attention, and care so you can feel confident knowing your dog is safe, relaxed, and well looked after.

About: Hi, I’m Miche ☺️ I’ve always naturally connected with animals and genuinely love spending time with them. I’m very calm, patient, and attentive, and I try to make pets feel as safe, comfortable, and relaxed as possible while you’re away. I especially do well with shy, anxious, or sensitive pets who need a gentler energy. I work from home, so my schedule is super flexible and I’m able to give your pet(s) lots of attention, company, and care throughout the day. I offer walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays in your home so your pets can stay happy in a familiar environment. I’m very respectful of people’s spaces, keep things clean and tidy, and love sending photo updates so you can relax knowing your pets are in good hands 💛 Since I work from home and my schedule is pretty flexible, pet care fits in really naturally for me. I’m home most of the day anyway, so it’s easy to work walks, feedings, and check-ins into my routine. I can also adjust my day around whatever the pet needs, so they’re not left waiting or on a strict schedule that doesn’t make sense for them. I care for pets in their own home so they can stay in a familiar, comfortable environment. I try to stick closely to their usual routine so everything feels calm and normal for them. I’m really attentive and can adjust to each pet’s unique needs. I also pay attention to their mood and energy and let them set the pace so they feel safe and relaxed while their family is away.

This was our first time using Rover, and we definitely had some apprehensions about having someone stay in our home and care for our 9-year-old German Shepherd, Snoopy, while we were out of the country. Vlad completely put our minds at ease. He house-sat and cared for Snoopy for two weeks, keeping us updated every day with messages and photos. He followed Snoopy’s normal routine, made sure Snoopy received his morning medication, and took wonderful care of him. He even watered our plants outside after noticing that they were drying up. It was especially reassuring to see how well Snoopy bonded with Vlad; he followed him around the house and would happily lie beside him (and even on his feet!) while Vlad worked remotely. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and a home that was exactly as we left it. Vlad was responsible, respectful, communicative, and clearly genuinely cared about Snoopy. We would happily book Vlad again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their home and their pets. Thank you, Vlad, for taking such great care of our boy! 🐾❤️

Kate is absolutely amazing! This is the first time we had Teddy, our mini-Aussie, be cared for by someone other than family members so I was a bit anxious (understatement). Teddy has a very small posse of people he trusts. Kate exceeded both our expectations and allowed me to be away worry-free. Kate is so well-organized and an excellent communicator. She kept us updated throughout our trip so we didn’t have to wonder about how things were going. Teddy and I would highly recommend Kate as a dog-sitter! A+!!

Liv stayed in at my place to sit Raya for almost a week— hands down the best experience I have ever had on Rover. She was punctual, friendly, warm, caring and thoughtful. She sent me pictures of my pup every day and let me know what they got up to that day—from ocean walks to chewing sticks in the yard. I came home to a happy and healthy dog, a clean apartment and watered plants. Cannot recommend Liv enough!

Words cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for Courtney. I had been asked to visit family only a week in advance- and Courtney readily accepted the last minute request. She watched my two cats, who were bummed they had to leave “camp fun” and come home with me after. I can be a bit of a worry wart when I leave my cats, but Courtney quickly eased any worries from our first meet and greet. She is calm, kind and overall lovely. My one cat Biscuit gets bad allergies and anxiety and often will cause him to scratch himself badly when I go away- but not with Courtney. She was amazing at giving Biscuit’s stubborn self his meds. She communicated well with me and was so great. Would definitely use her services again and highly recommend her. Thank you!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Victoria

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Victoria on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 587 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Victoria. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Victoria maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Victoria walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Victoria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 89% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
