“Grant and Kate did a great job with Hank. They took time to meet him and get familiar with our needs. They were great communicators while we were gone and ensured we knew how things were going. They also took excellent care of the house.”

“We had an amazing experience leaving our senior beagle Elliott in Maia's care. It was our first time having a sitter, and Maia not only put us at ease about the whole process but went above and beyond our expectations. Elliott instantly gravitated to her, you can always tell when someone truly loves animals. He was so happy to stick with his routine and Maia took great care to understand his quirky personality. She was professional, sent regular updates, and was quick to reply (even before our booking). We'd gladly entrust Elliott to her care in future and recommend to others.”

“Gwinn is amazing. Our senior dog needs a lot of meds and can be ummm resistant. No problem at all. We have never used Rover before but Gwinn made us feel good about leaving George for the weekend. Thanks so much!!!”

“Chantal was wonderful. My pups were well cared for and my home was spotless when I returned. Chantal took the time to set the routine with the dogs and I could tell she understood their needs and quirks and made sure they were comfortable. I would absolutely have Chantal back again!”

“Thank you Aya for staying with Benji. You are so sweet and gentle with him and that is exactly what he needs. We appreciated all of the updates too. Look forward to seeing you again. 😊”

About: Please note I can NOT take dogs over 15” at the shoulder. If your dog is under 15" at the shoulder I can take them even if they weigh 35 lbs. Thanks for understanding. Also ROVER charges you 11% on top of my rate. Plus they take 20% of whatever is booked. Thought you should know :) Now on to the profile. Also I have my location set for housesitting in Alberta in August as I will be there. Already booked up for July and September on Vancouver Island. I honestly love animals. I sometimes ask my friends to come over, just so I can hang out with their dogs. (my friends are okay with this) I'm well versed in giving dogs and cats their medication orally, or mixed in with food. I don't give needles. All of my dogs, except one lived to ripe old ages and I am well versed in dealing with mobility issues, deafness, blindness and incontinence. I love animals of all ages and I truly believe each stage of their life enhances ours. I have dealt with foster dogs with PTSD and I'm well aware how slow movements and soft voices are highly important to make a pet feel comfortable. I've taken a few dogs from vicious to cuddle bug in my time. Yes, some of them took months, but in the end, they learned to trust. All they need is love, patience and the time to destress and learn that not every human will hurt them. That being said, I'm not up for sitting a reactive dog at this time. I understand that your pets will need to approach me, not the other way around. Of course I will try to coax them to come to me, but if they don't, I'm okay with that. I simply want to give care to animals and get their companionship, if only for a short time, in return. I am semi-retired and work from home. As I have a fenced yard, I can easily accommodate small and medium sized dogs. I may have to go out for an hour here and there, but, for the most part, I am home. I have a fenced yard for dogs. Sorry - no cats at this time. If your dog is crate trained, they can stay in my bedroom with me in the crate, or if they are completely housetrained, they can even snuggle on the bed if that is your preference. When looking after pets in your home, I will follow their routine, as advised by you.
“Wish I could give Richelle six stars. I felt great leaving my dogs who both are temperamental in their own ways. Richelle took fantastic notes about how to care for my dogs. She was very communicative, which I asked for, and checked in with me each night before bed with a long update! My dogs were tired out each day from their walks, got some good backyard time, and even some extra special treats from her. She asked before feeding them anything extra, which I really appreciated. My house was clean when I got back. Couldn’t recommend her enough - specifically for us per parents that have troublesome animals and have anxiety about it. Thank you again, Richelle. So glad I found her and will definitely use her again in the future when I go away for work if she will have me!”

About: I have been taking care of dogs through Rover for several years now and it’s been such a great experience. I have had my dog, Jasper for seven years and two other dogs with a previous partner. We have taken care of many dogs over the years though my current living situation only allows for me to do house/dog sitting at your home, but this will be changing soon and I hope to be able to host dogs at my own residence again in the near future. With that being said - if you are booking for my home sitting services, please note that I will need to bring Jasper with me for the stay. I am currently only able to provide in home dog/housesitting services at this time. I work a combination of from home and part-time out of the house. I am a homebody and love hanging out with the animals either at home or going on an adventure of some sort. My animals and those that I’m caring for are always well loved and taken care of.
“Cole was absolutely great. He had great communication beforehand and during (sending photos and updates!). He was clearly comfortable with dogs and I could tell my dog was a happy doggo. He walked him twice a day for a couple KM and 100% will be using him again!”

“Diane was absolutely wonderful with Milo. She went above and beyond to make sure he was well taken care of while I was gone and brought him on many doggie adventures. I will absolutely hire her again to care for Milo!!”

“She is a very good listener, communicated well & gave our senior cat meds, feel very comfortable having her stay at our house to care for our cat with special needs, highly recommend!”

About: Animals have been a cherished part of my life since childhood, when I had the joy of growing up with 2 dogs. The pure happiness animals bring to me remains truly unmatched by anything else in life. I have been professionally pet sitting for 2 years and I have had the experience to care for many breeds and ages. From energetic husky pups to a blind senior lab that required medication and more specific care. I absolutely love animals and miss being around them when I'm not caring for them or walking them. I am able to do walks, drop-in visits, or live-in pet sitting based on my calender. I am always happy to make new animal friends! I treat every animal as it was my own. I have a deep love for animals and treat them with affection. I understand each animal has different levels of learning, communication, and trust and I take the time to learn about every animal I take care of. I love building relationships with pets and animals.
“Rita was able to connect well with our grumpy old dog who usually hates being left with sitters. She was even able to take our dog out for walks which no other pet sitter has been able to do before. We were incredibly happy with how well Rita took care of our pets. She sent us updates and pictures which really helped to ease our anxiety. The house was clean when we returned and all of our animals were happy, healthy and very obviously well cared for all weekend!”

“Highly recommend Polina! First time entrusting Letty with someone she's never met and on very short notice due to a family emergency. Polina put me at ease with her calm energy and immediate comfort around Letty. She provided regular updates and great photos on various walks around the neighbourhood. Came back to a very happy, chill Letty and home.”

“We had a great experience with Alexa. She was an excellent communicator and kept us updated throughout Tucker’s stay, which gave us real peace of mind. We’d happily book with her again and highly recommend her to other pet owners.”

“Alexander arrived on time and communicated throughout the stay. The house was tidy upon our return. Alexander put in additional effort by watering our plants when he noticed they were drooping and refilled my hummingbird feeders. Our two dogs were well cared for and we are sure they barely noticed we weren’t around!”

“Kate absolutely nailed it with the pet-sit! She watched my bunny and cockatiel, and I'm sure parents of exotics know that it can be nerve-wracking to leave our critters alone for a trip. Kate did an awesome job, was super communicative, made such a big effort even just in the meet and greet, and it showed in how happy and well taken care of everything was when I came home. House? Perfectly cared for, even cleaner than when I left it! Pets? Happy and healthy when I came back, which is all I could ever hope for! They can be quite the handful and I was so impressed with how she handled everyone. My anxiety in leaving the pets with someone new? Handled and then some- got a ton of cute pictures and she truly could not have made the process any easier for me. Kate is fantastic and I would 100% recommend her services to anyone with a critter to be watched- be it cat, dog, bunny, bird, or anything in between.”

“Ashley took attentive care of my cat for a week including giving him his asthma inhaler each morning. She sent me pictures throughout the week and kept in touch. I came home to a spotlessly clean home and the linens and towels were washed, too. Thank you Ashley!”

“So appreciative for Stephanie! She was so responsive and made my first try with Rover so easy. Have had relied on friends to help me out in the past, but this experience was so incredible thanks to Stephanie that this is now my go-to plan for my furry family going forward. She was so friendly with my shy pups, totally understanding of their care and needs. She sent messages and pics while I was away and just totally eased my mind. Can't thank her enough!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Victoria
Rory responded to a last-minute request due to a different dog-sitter cancelling. He was responsive and polite and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I have 3 rescue dogs - a lot of work for even an experienced dog-lover. Not only did Rory take amazing care of my 3 pups with joy, he far exceeded my expectations, sending me daily pics of beach romps, walks, cuddles and play time. When I came home after 5 days away, the dogs we happy and well-cared for, the house was spotless and all bedding and towels has been cleaned. I could not be happier - Rory is sheer sunshine to me! I would 100% use Rory in future, and will happily recommend him to anyone else looking for a caring sitter for their beloved pet.

Kelsey was excellent. Despite the fact she had a “day job” my dogs were well taken care of. Lots of cuddles and walks. I have a barky blue heeler and Kelsey didn’t hesitate to look after him. It’s obvious she has experience with “special” dogs and it showed. She stayed in our house and left it tidy. Highly recommend.

Diana was Great! Her calm demeanor and obvious love for animals was very welcoming. Our elderly dog requires a bit of special care and we were able to go on vacation knowing that Diana would make sure he was well taken care of. It’s so nice to have confidence that your pet is going to be looked after and cared for.

Christian has house sat for me when I had to have surgery done. He was kind, respectful of my space, and bonded with my sensitive dog who can be skittish. He bonded with my l dog, and sent many videos and pics of the progress with my dog. He had it all under control. I had a lot of faith that he took care of my space and my dog so well. I highly recommend him for dog/sitting walking whatever you need

I came home to happy, healthy pets and a tidy house! Kaceja kept me updated on how my fur babies were doing and took care of those little house things I didn’t know were going to come up. I really hope Kaceja will be able to sit for us again and would definitely recommend her to others. Kaceja is a capable, kind, trustworthy person.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Victoria on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 612 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Victoria. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Victoria maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Victoria walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Victoria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
