“Carlin took great care of our dog while we were away for the weekend. She communicated clearly and consistently, and spent the time to gain the trust of our dog who is wary of strangers and often not comfortable around new people. I will be reaching out again next time we need someone to stay with our pup - thank you!”

“Kurtis is excellent! Rosie adores all the attention and snuggles she gets with Kurtis. He communicated clearly, arrived on time, sent update photos, and made sure I didn't have to worry about Rosie at all. I wouldn't hesitate to keep bringing him back!”

“Carollee took wonderful care of my pets while I was away on a work trip. She was very attentive and made sure to send frequent updates and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. My dog has been having some tummy issues lately, and she kept me informed about how she was doing throughout my trip. I arrived home to a neat and tidy house and, most importantly, happy and healthy animals. Thank you so much, Carollee! 😊”

About: I’ve had cats my entire life and have always been passionate about understanding and caring for them. I’ve cared for friends’ and loved ones’ cats and dogs, as well as my cleaning clients’ pets, and genuinely love getting to spend time with animals. I’m comfortable with all aspects of cat care, including feeding, litter care, grooming, play, and medication (including oral medication when discussed in advance). I’m especially attentive to feline body language and adjust my approach based on signs of anxiety, fear, overstimulation, or discomfort. My approach is gentle and cat led. I follow a consent based approach to interaction, allowing cats to decide when they’re ready for touch, and building trust at their pace. I’m also very detail oriented and genuinely appreciate thorough care instructions. I’m happy to provide photos and updates and will treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own. As a longtime entrepreneur first with a house cleaning business to now being in private practice as a counsellor, I’m responsible, dependable, and have a flexible schedule. I’d love the opportunity to spend more time with cats and provide them with thoughtful, individualized care while their pet parents are away. I currently work in private practice as a counsellor, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to build pet care naturally into my week. I’m able to plan my schedule around the needs of the pets I’m caring for and enjoy having the opportunity to spend time with them throughout the day. I’m comfortable working with individual care routines and am happy to discuss specific timing, visit frequency, and care needs with each pet parent. My goal is to make pet care a consistent and enjoyable part of my routine while ensuring each cat or dog receives the attention and care they’re used to. I like to make drop in visits feel like more than just checking the essentials. I’ll greet your pet first, take care of their food, medication and litter, then spend time playing, grooming, and giving them the attention they enjoy. I love learning each animal's favourite toys, quirks, and routines, and I’m happy to stay a little longer for extra companionship when needed. I’ll also make sure their environment is comfortable before I leave, whether that means making a cozy spot, putting on some Cat TV with a sleep timer, or taking care of plants and fish if requested. My goal is for you to come home feeling that your pets were cared for with the same thoughtfulness you would have given them yourself.
“We have used several dog sitters from Rover and have always been pleased. Michelle is no exception. We had a sudden opportunity to go away for the weekend and our usual people were booked. We were delighted that Michelle was available and we are very grateful to her now that the weekend is over. She did a great job meeting the needs of our four different pets and their different personalities. She was also housesitting. The house was immaculate, and she had made every effort to water the plants, tidy up and generally welcome us home. She has a very winning personality– sees things positively and iseager to help and care for our pets. We would have her back in an instant and highly recommend her!”

“Etienne is the best dog sitter ever! He’s been looking after my dog for many years now and Chloe loves him. Not only does he take her for several walks a day, but he has helped with her training and recall immensely. A tired hound is a good hound, and Etienne never fails to tire her out. Thanks again Etienne!”

About: I truly believe our pets aren’t “just pets” - they’re family. I know how vulnerable it can feel to leave your furry family members in someone else’s care, and that’s exactly why I decided to offer pet care services. My goal is simple: to care for your pets with the same patience, attention, love, and respect I expect for my own. I’m a proud pet parent myself. I have a Shiba Inu whom I personally trained, so I have firsthand experience with an intelligent, independent, strong-willed breed that requires patience, consistency, and an understanding of individual boundaries and personality. I also have a senior cat who requires extra attention and special care, which has given me a deep appreciation for the needs of older pets. I understand that every animal is different - some need lots of exercise and stimulation, while others need a slower pace, extra patience, reassurance, or simply someone who understands their routine. When you’re at work, away for the day, or enjoying a well-deserved vacation, you should be able to relax knowing your furry babies are safe, comfortable, loved, and properly cared for. I want you to enjoy your time away without constantly wondering, “Are they okay?” 🏡 Flexible & Dependable - Including House Sitting I am a reputable, knowledgeable real estate agent and property manager, which gives me a very flexible schedule. This allows me to accommodate different routines and, whenever my schedule permits, last-minute bookings as well. My professional background also means I understand the responsibility and trust involved when someone gives me access to their home. I will always treat your home, privacy, belongings, and pets with care and respect. While I’m caring for your furry family members, my partner looks after our own pets. This gives me the flexibility to offer house sitting and overnight pet care without having to rush home to mine. ❤️ Why I Do This Caring for others is simply a big part of who I am. I genuinely love animals, and pet sitting gives me the opportunity to combine two things that bring me happiness: helping people and caring for animals. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, feeding, cuddles, a consistent routine, patient senior care, or simply a loving person nearby while you're gone, I’ll take the time to learn what makes your pet feel comfortable and secure. 📍I’m based in Langford and have a vehicle, so I’m happy to travel throughout the region, including North Saanich, Sooke, Mill Bay, and surrounding communities. Your pets deserve someone who understands that, to you, they aren't just animals waiting at home. They’re your babies. They’re family. And while they’re in my care, I’ll treat them that way. 🐾❤️ As a real estate agent and property manager, I have a very flexible schedule and can often accommodate mornings, evenings, weekends, and last-minute bookings. My partner cares for our pets while I’m away, allowing me to offer overnight and house sitting as well. I’m based in Langford and can travel from North Saanich to Sooke and Mill Bay. I care for your pets in the comfort of their own home, where they can feel safe and relaxed in familiar surroundings. I’ll follow their usual routine, feeding schedule, walks, medications, and any special instructions you have. I’ll also send plenty of updates and photos so you can relax knowing your furry family member is happy and well cared for.
“Bryce is the best sitter in the entire lower mainland. His knowledge and expertise is second to none and his carefulness to each pets needs is fantastic. Cannot recommend Bryce enough”

About: Dogs and cats have always been special to me. Your furry family members are safe in my care. Check-ins, feedings, and medicine applications are all in my repertoire. I'm a BC native, new to the island. I'm a mortgage broker and have plenty of spare time, so pet sitting fits right into my lifestyle. I'll be there for your beloved family members when they need me. Walkings, feedings, medicine applications, pets, snuggles, and other common means of care are certainly available. I can also teach common tricks, if you have any requests.

About: My journey with dogs started early. I have loved and cared for my very own dog since I was 10 years old. This lifelong experience taught me how to read dog body language. I truly understand their routines, signals, and emotional needs. As I grew older, I naturally began pet sitting for my friends. I have successfully managed everything from high-energy outdoor walks to quiet, cozy evenings at home. I know exactly how to adapt to each unique pet's personality. I am currently working part-time and I am available Wednesday and thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as well as on Saturdays from 11:00 PM to 6:00 PM When caring for pets at my home, I provide a safe, fully supervised, and loving environment with plenty of playtime and attention. For services at your home, I strictly follow your pet's regular routine, ensure your property is completely secure, and send regular photo updates so you can have total peace of mind.
“Pat was absolutely the best sitter we could have chosen for our little guy! She was super at communicating and sending us pictures. She left our home neat and tidy and we would love to have her back next time we are away! We highly recommend!”

“Chris was a complete gem. Bella was so happy when we got home. He took great care of her and communicated to us well. Sending us pics of how happy she was daily. Highly recommend.”

About: I am a young professional who loves the outdoors. I spend most of my time being very active outside. I enjoy hiking, running or long walks on the beach in all types of weather! I have always loved dogs and have spent many years being around them and caring for them. Growing up, I had dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters and guinea pigs, mice, frogs etc. I often volunteer to take friend's and familie's dogs for walks in my spare time or pet sit over longer periods of time. I genuinely enjoy the company and energy that dogs bring. I have a life long ambition to care for animals who have been neglected or poorly treated. Apart from being active, I also enjoy downtime/ snuggle time with older/less energetic animals. I have a gentle touch and a lot of love to share for 4 legged friends, no matter the size or temperament! I am currently taking the Summer off so my schedule is wide open for all your furry friend's needs! Please feel free to reach out regarding any availability questions/concerns. I have a large property (a dogs paradise!) but I am also happy to go on as many or as little dog walks/fetch dates as needed for whatever length is best suited for your dog. I have lots of experience with anxious animals or unsocialized pets so therefore I am confident I can keep your fur baby safe.
“Kirsten is clearly a very kind and compassionate human that cares a lot about animals. She was great with winning over our territorial and anxious chihuahua, Patches - he was cuddling with her within just a few hours of meeting her!”

“Sara was so wonderful! She was so kind to our pups, gave us lots of sweet little updates and left everything in our home so clean. If you’re looking for someone reliable to stay and with your pet look no further!”

About: Since I can remember I’ve had such a love for animals and their beautiful personalities and energy. Since approximately 12 years of age I’ve cared for and raised dogs. My husband and I have had two wonderful companions for 16-18 years who are sadly no longer with us. We continue to want to have animals in our life and help where we can. We have experience with puppies , middle aged, and senior pups and love all the stages that each age ranges bring. With family member we understand the utmost care and trust is needed. When we had our two dogs our lives definitely revolved around the both of them. Whether it be walking, feeding, playing and medications - they always came first. They were family. Our home consists of 2.5 floors. We have hardwood and carpets (runners) available for dogs who have traction issues. We can carry dogs that weigh up to 20 Ibs up and down if needed if they are older and also utilize baby gates. Water is available up and down and we also have AC.
“Nelia came and house sat my little Jimmy with short notice for the long weekend. She was super sweet and took excellent care of my dog for the weekend! She left my house after the weekend in better condition then when she arrived! Jimmy loved her and barely missed me at all. I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter! I will absolutely be using her services again!”

Dom was fantastic! She took excellent care of our pets while we were away and even went above and beyond by helping out with a couple household requests as well. Very good communicator, and very reliable. Will be happy to use her again or recommend her to others!

Spending Christmas and New Year’s abroad, we were glad to have Roseline looking after our 8-month-old puppy and two cats. The pets were well cared for and the house was left in great shape, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. One area for improvement would be closer adherence to care instructions, particularly around pet separation and routines. Overall, a kind and attentive pet sitter — thank you for helping us travel without worry.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sooke on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 577 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sooke. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sooke maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sooke walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sooke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
