“Laura is a very confident, experienced walker. She has walked my very large breed dog with another dog and it was very successful. She is ready to take on a challenge and very knowledgeable and resourceful.”

About: I have always wanted to look after animals since I was a kid. My husband and I fostered rescue dogs in Alberta to help get adopted. I have also cared for a variety of small caged animals over the years. As your house sitter, I will be present in your home for the entire duration of the stay. This is great if your pup does not like to be left alone. I am able to administer simple medications if needed. I am also able to care for small caged animals in my own home and we can discuss this arrangement if you are needing this service. House/pet sitting is my priority. When you hire me, I will not need to leave your residence for other employment. This is great if your pup does not like to be left alone. I will care for your pets following the daily routine that you have already established for them. If the pets are used to a morning walk then I will take them on a morning walk if that is preferred. If your pets are happy to simply play in their yard while you are away I would be happy to do that as well. I usually like to arrange a short meet and greet prior to the first overnight stay to familiarize myself with your pets and their home.
About: I’m 55, and a lifelong pet owner. I have two dog-friendly cats Octavia & Mario, and a sweet Chihuahua girl Bellamy. Having relied on pet sitters myself, I understand the importance of finding a trustworthy, responsible, and experienced sitter. Your pet's happiness, safety, and well-being are my top priorities. Whether it's catering to the needs of a senior dog, providing training for a lively puppy, or simply offering comfort and companionship, I approach each interaction with patience, compassion, and expertise. I take pride in maintaining the daily routines of the pets I care for, ensuring stability and comfort in their environment. Whether it's a home visit, doggy day care, or overnight stay in my home, your pet will receive personalized attention and plenty of love. ______________________________________________ ** Boarding (My home) - Dogs must be good with cats and not chase them.** ** House Sitting (Your home) - My Chihuahua comes with me. She’s quiet and very well-behaved.** ______________________________________________ Taking care of pets isn't just something I do on the side – it's my full-time job. I'm dedicated to them all day, every day. From morning to night, I focus on making sure they're well-fed, exercised, and content. Playing, cuddling, and giving them attention is what I do best because it's my passion and my only priority. With your pet's well-being in mind, I maintain a clean, pet-friendly space conducive to their needs. Whether it's ensuring secure fencing in my yard for outdoor play or utilizing safe and reliable equipment during walks, I take every precaution to keep your pet protected. Additionally, I adhere strictly to any dietary or medical requirements, administering medications if needed, and providing a calm and nurturing environment.
About: Recently had to say goodbye to my baby girl of nearly 20yrs, missing her snuggles and purrs. I know how difficult it can be to leave your sweetheart(s) when you're away and would be honored to care for them and keep them company until you return. I always grew up with pets and have pet-sat for friends through my teens & adult years. Litter boxes, dog-poop patrol, medications or special diets - your furry friend will be well looked after! I'm self-employed and currently working part-time so my schedule is relatively flexible. If you live in Sooke, I can easily check in on your pup during the day and am free most evenings & weekends to get them out for walks and/adventures. I love hiking and exploring different trails. I'm only able to board cats at my place, they will be comfortable inside with windows to perch and watch the world go by or soak up some the warmth of the sun. I have a cat tree, scratching post and toys to keep them busy. I am available to dog-sit in your home or simply provide check-in visits, bathroom breaks, and walks. To start, tell my about your pet's usual routines and needs and I'll let you know how I can support that. Then we can discuss and see if I'm the right sitter for you 🙂

“We can’t recommend Vanessa highly enough! About: As an interior designer, I spend my days creating spaces that feel calm, comfortable, and welcoming, and I’ve always taken the same thoughtful approach with the animals I spend time with. I’ve loved animals my whole life, and spending time with them has always brought me a genuine sense of happiness. Over the years, I’ve volunteered at animal shelters and veterinary clinics, as well as cared for dogs and cats for family, friends, and through referrals. I love getting outside for walks and hikes, and there’s nothing better than having a four-legged companion along for the adventure. Whether your dog loves to explore or prefers a slower pace, I’ll take the time to get to know their personality and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after while you’re away. I have experience caring for pets of all ages, from playful puppies and kittens to senior pets who may need a little extra patience and attention. I own my own interior design business and primarily work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. I treat every home and every pet with the same care and respect I would my own. I’ll follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible, meeting their needs and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after until you’re home again.
About: Hello Pet Parents! My name is Kassie and I have been caring for animals ranging from hamsters to cats and dogs since I was a young child. I've had dogs and cats throughout my life and if you choose me to watch your babies, they will be well taken care of! I work from home so my schedule is flexible! I love long walks and can throw a ball for hours! If I am boarding your pet, I do have a 1 year old tuxedo cat in the home. He is incredible. He loves dogs and cats and has been the best foster dad in the past! I look forward to hearing about your fur babies! I work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. I would walk your pets or come to your home to check on/feed them before work and after work if I were attending to them at your home. If they’re at my home, I have the flexibility to play with them at any point in the day & take them out In my home, your pet’s safety and comfort come first. I create a calm, pet-friendly environment free of hazards, with cozy resting spots, secure outdoor access (if needed), and plenty of stimulation to keep them happy and relaxed. About: Hello! My name is Isabella and I’m originally from Mexico. I’ve grown up in a home surrounded by dogs, which sparked my lifelong passion for caring for animals. I just graduated from Ecology at Thompson Rivers University and I’m also an active volunteer at local animal shelters. These experiences have deepened my understanding of animal behaviour and well being. I have over 7 years of experience as a dog walker and pet sitter, working with a wide range of breeds—from small, energetic pups to larger, strong dogs like Labradors. My top priority is always the well-being, safety, and happiness of your pet. I love going for long walks, playing, and making sure each pet feels loved and secure in my care. I am happy to look after your dog in your home to ensure the health and safety of all animals I look after. I’m excited to meet your furry friend and promise to keep you updated with photos and videos while you're away! Pet care fits perfectly into my routine as I have all weekdays and weekend free. As a recent graduate, I am currently looking for a job so I will be home all day taking care of your furry ones. My previous experience in my Mom's dog sitting company has given me the tools to provide the best possible care of the furry pets. I provide food, fresh water, and any medications needed at appropriate times, following the given schedule to optimise the pet’s wellbeing. I also personalise the care for each pet, taking into consideration their age, health conditions, energy levels, etc. I like to keep them entertained by playing with them and taking them on walks if agreed with you first. My walks always prioritise safety, providing the best experience possible for you and your pets. Letting them take their time while smelling plants and nature is crucial to ensure they enjoy the most. I offer on leash and off leash walks depending on your personal preference.
About: I’ve been around dogs and cats my whole life. I grew up with 3 indoor cats and caring for my grandparents German Shepherds. I fostered many dogs and cats with my roommates in University, and worked at a Veterinary Hospital for 2+ years. I’ve rescued a senior dog from the SPCA (who since passed) and now have a 3.5yr Rottweiler. My schedule is extremely flexible and I can make myself available at anytime needed to provide care for your pets. A typical day with my dog consists morning potty, breakfast, long walk, indoor mental play time, supper, outside potty and more play time. It’s not uncommon to go for off-leash walks in a park. Another activity we enjoy is mental enrichment - either a mind game with treats or frozen kong. I have a condo in Westhills. There are many parks and trails nearby. I also have a SUV I use to take the dogs on adventures to the beach, hikes, etc. As for care in your home; I like to maintain whatever schedule you have!
About: Hi! My name is sarah, and I would love to care for your furry family member while you’re away. I work from home full-time, which means your dog will have companionship and supervision throughout the day and will never be left alone for long periods. As a dedicated pet owner with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities, I understand the importance of providing reliable, attentive care. I’m comfortable following specific feeding schedules, administering oral medications if needed, and accommodating your dog’s individual routines and preferences. I’m also happy to provide references from previous pet care experiences upon request. I share my home with my friendly 7-year-old, 40-pound dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and has a calm, easygoing personality. Because I live in a condo without a yard, I make sure dogs receive regular walks, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention to keep them happy and comfortable. I understand that every dog has their own routine and unique needs, and I strive to provide a safe, loving environment that feels as close to home as possible. Whether your pup enjoys cuddling on the couch, going for walks, or simply relaxing nearby while I work, I’ll make sure they receive the care and affection they deserve. I also know how important peace of mind is when leaving your pet with someone new, so I’m happy to provide regular photo and video updates throughout their stay. Clear communication is important to me, and I’ll keep you informed so you can feel confident that your dog is safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I look forward to meeting you and your dog! I work full time from home. 1 sweet dog . I live in a condo but we go for 3 walks away, our lunch time walk is an hour, in the mornings and normally to the dog park after work, but that’s only if your dog is comfortable with dog parks. I have a sweet rescue dog. I’m at home full time and would love another pup to hangout with us in the day or over nights

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sooke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 94% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 90% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
