“I have to leave another review for Tasia, who cared for my pup via daily walks while I was out of town for 2 weeks. She was reliable, lovely, and my dog was SO HAPPY. We’re continuing with regular walks because Tasia is such a gem 💜”

“Elizabeth is wonderful with Lupe — she warmed up to her so quickly! Lupe always has a great time, and it’s a bonus that Elizabeth brings her dog since Lupe loves to play and make new friends :)”

About: I’m new to pet sitting, but I have cared for my Miniature Dachshund for more than 10 years. I love dogs and often spend time whenever I can. I’m caring, responsible, and will make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved. I work part-time, which gives me flexibility to care for pets on my days off and during open hours. I truly enjoy spending as much time as possible with dogs and making them happy. In your home, I will make sure your dog feels relaxed, safe, and cared for. I will follow your walking routine, feeding schedule, and any special instructions while respecting your home and space.
“This was a fantastic first visit. I am a very anxious dog Mom and have two dogs that need extra attention and care. Richelle was there, took notes, and definitely eased my mind. Will definitely be using her again for an away trip :)”

About: I've taken care of animals of all kinds for many years. Friends, family members, and neighbours have always trusted me to walk, feed, and give lots of attention to their pets while they are away. I have trained my own dogs as puppies, and have lots of experience working with with reactive/medically complex dogs. I am currently a full time University student. This leaves me with lots of time in between classes and at the end of the day to spend time with your animals! I prioritize each pet’s safety, comfort, and routine while caring for them in their home. I follow their usual schedule for feeding, walks, and playtime to reduce stress and maintain consistency. I take extra care to ensure their environment remains clean and secure, and I’m experienced in administering medications for pets with medical needs. My goal is to provide attentive, trustworthy care so both pets and owners feel at ease while apart!
“Mari was wonderful! My girls loved her immediately and had a great time. Grateful for the last minute availability and would highly recommend. Will definitely be rebooking - thank you Mari!”

About: I am my friends’ go to dog sitter and have done overnight sitting with multiple doggos! I’ve never owned a dog but have been in a cat household my whole life. I like to hangout at home (or your home) as well as go on dog friendly adventures such as hikes and would love to spend some time with your dog(s)! Very much interested in travelling out of town to sit so please don’t hesitate to reach out! I work Monday to Friday with the ability to work from home most of the time! I am also very open to weekend roadtrips to your place. I like routine myself so incorporating your pet(s) into mine isn’t very hard! I’m great at following instructions and understand the importance of your pet(s) sticking to their routine(s), especially if they’re stressed because you’re gone! I pay attention to feeding, walking, etc. without missing a step and am always open to a cuddle if that’s something your pet is interested in!
About: Availability: Currently available most days, evenings, weekends and holidays! I am looking for a fun way to get out and get active while connecting with new people and their pets! I have a dog who I adopted 8 years ago (a Miniature American Eskimo) and a cat (long hair) that is 14 years old. I also have a 5 year old son so, I am looking to get out and get active and sometimes take him with me on dog walks :). I am very patient, kind and understanding of pets needs and I look forward to meeting your fur family:) I know what it's like to try and find the right fit when it comes to your pets needs and hoping to provide a service I would expect to receive if the roles were reversed. My pets are a major part of my life and I incorporate them in everything I possibly can! I expect to do the same with your pets when they're in my care. I take my dog, Bentley, for walks, hikes, swimming, camping and any adventures I think he'd like! In my home I make sure the environment is safe (as I do have a small child at home as well), that there is space to play, relax and have quiet time and for them to come along on adventures. I never leave my dog unattended for long periods of time and I would do the same for your dog. Saftey and happiness are my number one priorities.
“Our dog Stevie has the best time on her walks with Melanie! She comes back happy and well exercised. Melanie is reliable and very good with dogs, would highly recommend her for pet sitting or dog walking.”

About: Grew up with three very stubborn terriers that required lots of structure and enrichment. Helped my family take care of them through all ages, from puppy to senior, including special caare such as medications I generally am able to work remotely with internet access as I am a graduatae student at UVIC. I have to be on campus Thursday & Friday 8-4 but I am able to return home to take for walks or bring to campus if pets are comfortable with that. I strive to provide the best environment for your pet and will do everything possible to ensure their comfort. I am unable to take pets into my own home, but I can provide outdoor time or make their own space as familiar as possible.
About: The most important part of understanding an animal is reading their body language and observing their behavior. They tell us very clearly what they're feeling/needing. Once they feel understood, safe and sense the loving vibe, everything is calm. I have been an animal lover all my life, with both cats and dogs in my home. I have a very friendly, playful 2 year old mixed-breed dog who gets along with every dog he's ever met. He's gentle with the little ones and seniors and adores finding a dog friend with similar energy to wrestle and run with. If your dog is social, mine will make yours feel right at home. I do not have a fixed schedule, so I am flexible and have time to watch and ensure that everyone is happy and getting along. I have a large fenced yard and am close to several good trails and beaches. Every day will be filled with a fun dog adventure.
About: I adore all dogs and cats like they were my own. I have been told I have a special energy and bond with animals by many different people. I've lived with and cared for numerous animals over the years, unfortunately not having any of my own at the moment :( I have experience and comfortability with many various breeds, animal needs, disabilities, temperaments and personalities. I am an outdoor saavy, active individual with my own SUV that is dog friendly. Given proper permission and assurance I can take your pup on a fun adventure, or to meet other dogs. I love pet photography and would be happy to share many happy moments of my time with them. I have taken my Canine First Aid, volunteered for weeks at a time at dog rescue sanctuaries abroad and have completed many successful sits and walks over the years helping pet parents feel at ease and that their pet has been properly cared for. I guarantee to be respectful, cautious, and caring when sitting for your furry family. 🐶🐺🐱🐰🐹🐍🐴🐈🐩🐕🦙🐐🐦 My current schedule is very flexible, and when caring for pets they are my number one priority. I make sure to do my best to ensure timely meal and walk times. I am an attentive and adaptable individual, being able to gauge when an animal is in need of care or attention. Iike out animals we all need a proper routine, safety, regular food and water, exercise and affection. I make sure these needs are met in addition to some added playtime and mental stimulation.
“Abigail was wonderful with my dog! She adjusted the walk time to accommodate the weather and made sure she didn’t get overheated or dehydrated. She kept me updated and brought her back happy, with plenty of water and potty breaks. Excellent communication throughout — would definitely recommend her!”
About: I treat every pet like they’re my own and take the time to understand their personality, routine, and preferences. I’m great with puppies who are still learning and need consistency, as well as senior pets who benefit from a calm, gentle approach. I aim to create a stress-free, loving environment so you can feel completely confident while you’re away. Pet care fits easily into my routine as a student with a flexible schedule. I’m able to plan my days around walks, visits, and check-ins, and I make sure pets are always a priority in my day-to-day routine. I care for pets in their own home where they feel most comfortable and secure. I stick closely to their usual routine for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest, while keeping their environment clean and calm. I’m attentive to each pet’s behavior and needs, and I always provide updates so you feel confident while you’re away.

SHES ABSOLUTELY AWESOME Promoptly replied back to my dog walking cry for help. Was able to bust a wheel in her whip down to my crib. She kicked in my door stole my dog and she said to me " run run as fast as you can fat man, you won't catch me cuz I'm the ginger bread man. And then she grabbed my dog by the tail with her huge super hero hands jumped off my patio head first. Then in an hour after the door was repaired and back on the hinges she kicked my door back in. She threw my dog across my living room then jumped off the patio head first again. My dog is happier then two pigs in.........shut the front door.

Was super responsive when booking. I really appreciated how she was able to do a last minute walk booking. My dog can be very reserved with strangers to a fault and it seems she warmed right up to her despite their first meeting not even having us there! She took extra care to get introduced and I can tell by the photos my doggo had a good time. Thanks again!

So great meeting with Callum for the first time. We need to leave our pup over Christmas and never having left her with strangers before I was super nervous. Callum offered to meet with us to put our minds at ease before committing to a long term stay and I feel so relaxed about leaving her now. Thanks Callum!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oak Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
