“Criofan was great, we were travelling from Edmonton and decided to do a last minute Whale Watching Tour. Within 5 minutes Criofan responded and we had Luna booked in to play for the day. We really appreciated the late night pick up at 10pm, was flexible for us to enjoy our time in Victoria without feeling rushed. The drive was only 20 mins, but was definitely worth the drive, huge space for Luna to run with Albert. Really appreciated the messages after dropping Luna off, put my mind at ease that she was behaving. Highly recommend, we got back a happy tired pooch!”

“I felt very lucky to find a sitter that would take my pup and Tannis (and her patient family) spent quality time with my girl. Her location was perfect for me, I picked up a very happy puppy, and I could not feel more confident leaving my sweet girl in her care. Thank you Tannis!”

“Bianca was wonderful! She had great communication and sent regular photo updates, which we really appreciated. My dog is very shy and timid, but Bianca did an amazing job and made her feel comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.”

“Andrea has been so patient with our new puppy, she treats her as if she was a part of the family. I have no doubt Nyx is already looking forward to her next visit!”

“Jonathan has become a real staple sitter for us! My dog Luna has an absolute blast and the level of care is great. She gets lots of walks, cuddles and play time with their lovely dog Indy. Jonathan is very communicative and I always look forward to the photo updates. Would definitely recommend as a sitter.”

About: I’ve been an animal lover my whole life. I’ve worked years in shelters and have 5 years experience in veterinary clinics, so in addition to my own curiosity and knowledge about dogs/cats, I have learned a lot in this time. I’ve walked/taken care of many friends’ and family’s pets before, and am very familiar with chronic medication as well as knowing how to respond to potential emergency situations. I am great at reading animal behaviour and assessing their needs to maintain comfort and happiness. I am a mature, kind, and responsible individual who has been trusted time and time again with other peoples’ furbabies. I love to share my affection with other animals and make them feel comfortable. I largely work from home full time, but the rare day I am away in the field for work. Time from home is variable depending on the task, and can range from 2-10 hrs. Otherwise, I am doing office work at home and with my two furbabies all day! In my home, my two are given free rein over the house, although they mostly just sleep during the day. They are fed 3 times per day, at specific times, and Murphy gets a walk a day at minimum. In a client’s home, I would adjust to their needs and routine as per their owner’s requests!
“Chris and Amy were great with Leo he seemed happy and exhausted when he came home. They were good at communication, sent lots of photos and asked good questions. They were very tolerant of our high energy puppy! Thanks!”

“Christy was great with Steiner, our one year-old puppy, who is still learning how to behave. Christy lives very close to all the activities in Victoria, B. C., so dropping Steiner off was so easy. Thank you for taking care of our puppy, Christy.”
About: I currently have a Sphynx (high maintenance cat breed with very specific needs) so I’m comfortable with tailored routines, diet restrictions, and reading an animal’s particular quirks.. I also grew up with dogs (multiple Border Collies) so I know the energy and exercise they need too. Whether your pet wants constant attention, space, or a specific routine, I adjust to what actually works for them :) I am currently working part time, so I have free time in my week and would love to drop in and take care of your animal(s). Typically I work Thursday-Saturday or Sunday, but am happy to accommodate as best I can if you need support during those days. In your home, I stick closely to their feeding schedule, walks, and any specific instructions, staying attentive to their comfort in their own environment throughout each visit. *I have a cat in my home, (2 bd duplex house). I am happy to have your pet stay in my home if they’re patient/friendly towards cats and my cat gets along with them -would need to discuss/meet & greet prior to me hosting*
“Our dog Nala LOVED her day at Tiana’s place. We are currently driving back to our Airbnb and she’s already passed out. Tiana was able to accommodate us last minute, and when we arrived, she showed us her huge fenced yard and introduced us to her two friendly dogs. While watching Nala, she sent photos/videos and took her on a good walk. Thank you so much. We hope to book Tiana again the next time we’re in Victoria / this neighbourhood - would highly recommend”

About: Hi! I’m an animal lover offering a fun, caring home and lots of attention for your pets while you’re away. I work from home, so I’m able to spend plenty of time with them throughout the day. I’ve had cats my entire life and have cared for dogs and cats for extended periods, including pets needing medications and diabetic cats requiring injections. I live in a house with a small backyard and am close to a dog park, neighbourhood walks and nearby trails. I also have a car for outings. I have a small two-year-old Frenchie and a confident six-year-old cat who are both part of our home. I’m also happy to do drop-ins or house sitting. Since I work remotely, I can spend a lot of time with your pet while working. For overnight house sitting, I would need to bring my Frenchie, so we’d make sure that’s a good fit first. I’m warm, attentive and happy to follow your pet’s usual routine. I’m best suited to calm or moderately active pets and don’t accept aggressive or extremely high-energy dogs. I’ll treat your pets like my own and am happy to send regular photo updates so you know they’re happy and well cared for. ❤️ Since I work remotely, I have lots of flexibility throughout the day and can give pets plenty of attention, companionship, playtime, and care around their usual routine. I treat every pet like they’re my own and take the time to learn their routine, personality, and needs. I follow care instructions closely and always prioritize their safety, comfort, and happiness.
“Kylee was amazing! She took such good care of Rudy and sent me so many updates throughout the night. Her dog Remmy is really cute and I think they had a great time together. Will definitely contact her again when we’re back in town. Thank you Kylee 💕”

“We had such a wonderful experience! Shravistha was incredibly flexible with scheduling and always so accommodating. Both she and her husband took amazing care of Alfie and treated her like she was part of their own family. Communication was excellent throughout the entire stay. She always replied to my messages promptly and kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was obvious that Alfie was happy, comfortable, and truly well cared for. She is warm, kind, and genuinely loves dogs. Knowing Alfie was with her allowed us to completely relax while we were away. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and have always loved caring for them. I’ve regularly looked after friends’ dogs and have experience working at a doggy daycare, specifically with puppies. I love taking dogs on walks, hikes, beach adventures, playing with them, and giving them lots of love and attention. I’ll treat your dog like they’re my own! I’m currently transitioning into a new job, so my schedule is very flexible right now. I’m available pretty much every day and at any time, and I’m happy to work around your dog’s routine. I have experience working at a doggy daycare, where I worked specifically with puppies and dogs of different personalities. I provide a safe, clean and loving environment and will follow your dog’s routine, including feeding, walks, crate time and any special instructions. Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first.

Ramesh and Lauren (and their sweet cats) were wonderful with our senior dog. They accommodated us on short notice and took fantastic care of her. On both stays she came home happy and relaxed, and we felt completely confident leaving her in their safe, trustworthy hands. We’d happily book with them again!

Suzanne was exceptionally patient and kind with our dog, and it was clear she genuinely cared about him and attended to his needs. She kept us updated with photos during his stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dog looked happy, relaxed, and really seemed to enjoy his time with her. We will definitely ask her to take care of him again when we come back to Victoria!

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Oak Bay commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
