Diane saved my butt! She did a fabulous job looking after my cat Reggie. I booked with her rather last minute, but she was available and attentive right away. She made time to feed, hang out and play with Reggie and then sent me lots of photo updates, even of him taking a bite of his food. That was really nice reassurance that I didn’t have to ask for. So pleased with Diane’s help - would be comfortable having her in my home again in the future. Thank you Diane!

About: I've taken care of animals of all kinds for many years. Friends, family members, and neighbours have always trusted me to walk, feed, and give lots of attention to their pets while they are away. I have trained my own dogs as puppies, and have lots of experience working with with reactive/medically complex dogs. I am currently a full time University student. This leaves me with lots of time in between classes and at the end of the day to spend time with your animals! I prioritize each pet’s safety, comfort, and routine while caring for them in their home. I follow their usual schedule for feeding, walks, and playtime to reduce stress and maintain consistency. I take extra care to ensure their environment remains clean and secure, and I’m experienced in administering medications for pets with medical needs. My goal is to provide attentive, trustworthy care so both pets and owners feel at ease while apart!

Richelle was an exceptional sitter for my two cats! Both have anxiety in their own way and she knew exactly what they needed to feel as good as possible in my absence. She was super responsive, asked lots of questions to get to know them, and provided detailed summaries of her visits with lots of photos. Highly recommend for anxious pets and pet parents alike!

About: Updated SPRING 2026 SCHEDULE: Pet Sitting for all types of animals in YOUR own home 🐶😸 Pet Sitting Available 7 days/week 🐕😸🦎 Drop-Ins & Walks Available Mon-Fri after 5pm & anytime weekends. Please note, I offer services primarily in the Oakbay/Fernwood/Oaklands/Hillside area. Pet Sitting requests outside this area may require extra fees. Updated SPRING 2026 SCHEDULE: Pet Care in YOUR own home starting at $50/night + taxes and Rover fees. Available 7 days per week upon advanced booking, typically 3-4 weeks out. Pet Sitting happens in your animals own home to reduce stress and maintain your furry friend's regular feeding and bathroom routine. Animals can get dysregulated by change, just like humans! So this option allows your pet to skip high energy of kennels as I will be staying in your home and providing love and care for your pet day and night. **Please note I work remotely from my laptop during the day. This means I will be multi tasking between computer work and phone calls, while also ensuring your animals are loved and cared for like they were my own by providing them care, feeding, and bathroom breaks. Please provide parking and a WIFI password on the counter as I require internet access to work from home. Thank you! :) Available Mon-Fri after 5pm, and Weekends anytime for drop ins/walks. **Not offering care in my home at this time. About Me: I have two dogs of my own, as well as two bunnies, 6 chickens, a pig and two domestic pigeons. Therefore I am very familiar with animal needs and behaviors! I encourage any specific care needs be written down or messaged to me through Rover to ensure high quality care and detail can be given. Please note: ALL services are conducted WITHOUT my dogs or pets. Additionally, for safety purposes I do not interact animals from different houses. House sitting and walks are done for ONE household at a time, for safety purposes. Feel free to reach out with questions! :) I provide care in your own home, by taking them out for walks, to the bathroom, refilling food/water as needed. Since care is provided in your own home I will be home during the day and can be receptive to your pets needs and any specific care plans they may have. This ensures that while you are away your animals recieve consistent care and you recieve peace of mind. Feel free to ask me questions! ☺️

About: I've loved animals since I was a child! I have extensive experience caring for large dogs and have raised a puppy and supported a terminally ill dog. I am confident in leash control of large dogs that pull, as my own dog is ~100lbs. My Old English Sheepdog is eager for a playmate if your pup is looking to socialize! My schedule is extremely flexible, with my only consistent commitments being early morning Wednesdays and Sundays. I have my own vehicle and am happy to come to you! I have a friendly, playful dog who would LOVE to go for walks with your dog! I will care for your pets as though they are my own with patience, love, and enthusiasm!

About: Hi! I offer dog sitting through Rover and truly treat every dog like part of our family. My partner and I work from home, which means your dog will rarely be left alone and will get consistent attention, supervision, and care throughout the day. We have a secure fenced yard for safe outdoor time, plus we love getting out for daily walks and fresh air—perfect for dogs who enjoy being active. We share our home with our 5-year-old dog, Moose, who is friendly and used to being around other dogs. Through both owning and fostering, we’ve had experience with a wide range of personalities, energy levels, and needs—from playful and social pups to dogs who need a bit more patience, structure, or a calm environment. What sets us apart: • Constant presence: We work from home, so your dog won’t be left alone for long periods • Safe space: Fully fenced yard and a calm, comfortable home environment • Experience: Hands-on experience with fostering and caring for dogs with different temperaments and needs • Active lifestyle: Regular walks, playtime, and enrichment tailored to your dog • Personalized care: We take the time to understand your dog’s routine, preferences, and any special requirements We know how important it is to trust someone with your dog, and we’re committed to making sure both you and your pup feel comfortable, confident, and happy. Pet care fits very naturally into our daily routine since my partner and I both work from home. We’re home throughout the day, so caring for a dog isn’t something we have to “fit in”—it’s part of our everyday life. Our mornings typically start with a walk and outdoor time in our fenced yard, followed by a calm workday with regular breaks for play, bathroom breaks, and attention. We build in walks and activity based on each dog’s energy level, whether that’s longer walks or shorter, more frequent outings. Evenings usually include another walk, feeding, and relaxed time at home. On weekends, we’re often outside and can offer more time for longer walks or outings if that suits the dog. Because we already have our dog Moose and have experience fostering, we’re used to structuring our days around a dog’s needs—whether that’s sticking to a routine, providing extra supervision, or adjusting for dogs who need a bit more care or patience. Overall, dogs are a consistent and enjoyable part of our routine, not an add-on, which means they get lots of attention, structure, and care throughout the day. I focus on creating a safe, calm, and consistent environment for every dog, whether they’re staying in my home or I’m caring for them in a client’s home. In my home: Dogs become part of our daily routine. With my partner and I working from home, they get lots of supervision, attention, and companionship throughout the day. We follow your dog’s normal schedule as closely as possible—feeding times, walks, and any specific routines that help them feel comfortable. We have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time, plus daily walks and play based on your dog’s energy level. Our dog Moose is friendly and used to sharing his space, but I always prioritize safe introductions and make sure every dog feels comfortable. I’m also very mindful of different temperaments and needs, and can adjust the environment to be more calm, structured, or active depending on the dog. In your home (drop-ins or house sitting): I aim to keep everything as familiar and stress-free as possible. I stick closely to your instructions and your dog’s routine, including feeding, walks, medications (if needed), and any specific care details. I make sure your dog gets plenty of attention, exercise, and affection, while also keeping your home tidy and secure.

Ashley took care of my two cats while I was away. This was my first time leaving my cats behind with a sitter and I am glad it was Ashley. One of my cat seemed extremely comfortable in the pics with her around. Ashley even made efforts to look for my other cat, the shy one, and sent me pics from it's hiding place. I got regular updates and photos. I would highly recommend Ashley.

Really great experience. Angela and Gabriel were wonderful with our 1.5-year-old dog, Jarvis! He is incredibly affectionate and full of energy, and they did an amazing job handling his excitement while making him feel comfortable and cared for. They were patient, attentive, and clearly experienced with energetic dogs. We felt confident leaving Jarvis with them and would absolutely trust them to watch him again. We highly recommend Angela and Gabriel to anyone looking for kind, reliable dog sitters!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Pet Sitting in Oak Bay on Rover is $24.42 per visit (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Pet Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Pet Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 793 sitters on Rover for Pet Sitting in Oak Bay. About 85% of Oak Bay sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Oak Bay stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:

  • Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
  • House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
  • Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.

Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oak Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
