“Sarah took such great of Luna while I was away. It is evident she is very caring and compassionate about animals. She provided Luna with excellent enrichment and play while giving her lots of love. I felt very comfortable leaving my kitty in Sarah's care. I always looked forward to reading Luna's daily Rover card to see what fun they got up to! I will be booking with Sarah again!”

“Ida went above and beyond what was asked. As my dog is a rescue he is quite anxious and very nervous with new people. Although scheduled for shorter sessions, Ida took the time to make him feel comfortable and get him acclimated to her visits. She kept us updated on her work with him and was able to get him acclimated and get all the exercise he needed. Thanks so much Ida. You made it easy for us to leave him with you.”

“Madeline took wonderful care of our toy poodle, Ziggy, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. This was Ziggy’s first time being left alone with a sitter, so we were a bit nervous—but she immediately put both us and Ziggy at ease. She took him out for a walk, spent quality time playing with him, and gave him lots of cuddles and attention. It was clear from his behavior that he genuinely enjoyed her company and felt comfortable with her. Madeline is incredibly sweet, responsible, and attentive. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter.”

“Holly was very attentive and responsive while taking care of our cats. She provided daily check ins with photos and was very communicative when needed. Our cats are very shy and tend to hide around anyone who isn’t us but Holly managed to make friends with both of them :) We will definitely be using Holly in the future!”

“Ashley is wonderful! She took such great care of my kitty. I came home to a very happy girl! Ashley sent lovely detailed notes at every visit, and has great attention to detail in her pet care. I highly recommend Ashley!”

“I used cat sitter service for the first time because the cattery I have used for years sadly closed their business recently. But Karin is a purrfect cat sitter, diligent and responsible. My two fussy cats absolutely loved her when I was on a week business trip. Thank you Karin, you are ace! 👍”

About: Hello! I absolutely love cats & dogs and have cared for animals since childhood, starting with my own family pets. Over the years, I’ve gained experience helping friends, neighbours, and clients with dog walking, pet sitting, and overnight care, including caring for a senior blind dog over the course of a summer. I understand that every pet has different needs, personalities, and energy levels. Some pets love long walks and playtime, while others simply want calm companionship and routine. I always try to make animals feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I currently have no pets in my home, so your pet would have a quiet environment and plenty of attention during overnight stays if needed. My schedule is flexible, and I’m typically home mornings and evenings and away for shorter periods during the afternoon. I offer 30, 45, and 60 minute walks and prefer smaller groups (2–3 dogs max) so each dog receives proper attention, safety, and care during walks. I also love keeping owners updated with photos and messages so you can feel relaxed knowing how your pet is doing throughout the day. I’m attentive, reliable, calm under pressure, and genuinely love building trust with both pets and their owners. My goal is always for your pet to feel happy, safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. If I am house sitting, you will return to a clean and happy home! I would love to build long-term relationships with regular clients in Victoria and the surrounding area. I am pretty flexible as my work schedule tends to vary. I live in the Oak Bay area but am happy to travel for your pet needs. I care for pets the same way their owners would with consistency, love, and attention to detail. For in home stays: pets receive affection, playtime, and comfort. Cats have daily litter cleaning and scheduled feedings at their usual times, while dogs get two walks per day, potty breaks, feeding, and plenty of pets and love. For dog walks: I make sure they’re happy and refreshed with potty breaks, light grooming if needed so they’re clean when they return, and treats or feedings as directed. My goal is always to keep pets comfortable, cared for, and loved just like they are with you.
“Not only was Allan GREAT with my dogs, he was flexible on Christmas Day! Today was our second walk and I loved seeing the dogs get excited to see him. I came back to find them loving all over him. Highly recommend. Would certainly go to Allan first if I was back here and needing a walker again!”

“Kate and Grant are fabulous humans who looked after our kitties as if they were their own. They kept us up to date and let us know how our fur babies were doing. I highly recommend them, and they are now our go-to pet sitters. If you are looking for someone trustworthy who will take the best care of your pets, they are the ones!”

“We love Marcia! She is always willing to help and is great at communication. She loves playing with Fawn and gets lots of kisses/licks from her when she comes to visit. Thank you Marcia for being our sitter :)”

About: Hi there! I’m Nick, and I am a lifelong animal lover. I believe every pet animal deserves a safe, fun, and engaging experience. Whether it’s a long walk in the neighborhood, a hike on the trails, or just some quality backyard playtime, I’m dedicated to keeping your pet happy and tired! I am reliable, punctual, and—most importantly—patient. I know how important it is to have peace of mind when you’re away, so I prioritize clear communication and frequent updates. I look forward to giving your pet the attention and exercise they need while you’re busy. I just moved to Victoria BC and have lots of free time, a flexible work schedule, and a bike to get around. I live alone and work from home as an instructor and researcher at a few universities. I wake up very early and love being outside as much as possible. I am keen to explore my surroundings, including parks! I have access to a vehicle too with advanced notice. I live in a small apartment in downtown Victoria with access to a rooftop pet care area and cleaning facilities. I am very mobile within a limited range that is accessible by bicycle. I have access to a vehicle if necessary with advanced notice.
“Miriam was amazing with our fur-baby cat! I immediately felt comfortable and confident in having her check-in on Nala while we were away. I received lots of updates and pictures and Nala got lots of love! I will definitely be contacting Miriam for any future care :)”
“Stephanie is truly experienced and incredibly diligent. She took excellent care of my cat and went above and beyond by sending frequent updates, which really helped ease my nerves while I was away. She was very attentive and happy to follow even the smallest instructions to make sure my cat was comfortable and entertained during my absence. My cat is usually timid with strangers, but she seemed to feel comfortable with Stephanie almost immediately, which says a lot. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for reliable pet care”

“What an absolute delight having Valerie do a drop in for our three misfits! She has a very calm and kind demeanour and is very clearly a dog person! I could tell how much she really values understanding the dogs in her care and their way of being. She asked such great questions and was so attentive! I feel my dogs and home would be so safe & valued in her care. Thanks Valerie!”
“Kaori was incredibly gentle and kind with my two nervous but sweet dogs! We booked her to watch them two nights in a row and the first night, they were their typical shy selves, but by the second night, they were truly excited to see her when she came in and barely noticed when we left! I would highly recommend anyone to trust Kaori with their beloved pets and will absolutely rebook with her in future when we visit Victoria!”
About: I’ve been looking after and interacting with animals of all types, furred & otherwise, since I was able to stand up say hi! Well versed in sitting, walking (or jogging), playing, and providing care in general for dogs, cats & rabbits (well maybe not walking the latter two as much) for both friends and family, I'm sure I can provide the care and attention you desire for your animals as well. My most current long-term care experience is with a rescue rabbit I share a home with. I've learned a lot about animal care, respect, and boundaries by carefully observing body language and learning his needs. I enjoy learning more about his quirks and teaching him new tricks. In addition to the bunny, I currently reside with a few creepy-crawlies! Part-time hours during my weekdays currently often leaves me quite flexible, especially afternoons, for walks, check-ins or play-time! I am mainly involved in contract gig-work, which does fill some of my weekends, so I’m not always available Mon, or Th-Su, but happy to fit it in when available! Please check my calendar or ask about availability! I regularly enjoy going for walks (long, or short) around Victoria, so I'm regularly available for, and interested in, bringing a four-legged friend along for the adventure! I’m a firm believer in getting down to an animal’s level when interacting with them, especially with new introductions and being in an animal's home space, and would do everything possible to make an animal feel comfortable with new human interactions. I take animals' trust seriously and do my utmost to keep eyes open and respond to their needs to maintain those relationships. Making animals as comfortable as possible is my goal, and I'll do my best to keep you up-to-date on your furred friend's experiences while I'm looking after them on your behalf. I'm also happy to maintain, to the best of my ability, your pet's routines and expectations, and will touch base with you to learn as much as I can about your pet to set myself up for success! Let's chat and work together to meet you and your pet's needs!
About: I have been around animals my whole life. From BIG to small, from scaly to silky, my experience is vast and I LOVE them all! I trained my puppy Owen, and now 16 years later I'm assisting him in his old age. In 2001 I fostered a stray cat who birthed my kitten Tiny and two others. I had Tiny for 18 glorious years. My dedication to animals and commitment to excellent care is truly my life Passion. Currently, I work as a casual in the healthcare field. Specifically with adults with adverse abilities. My schedule is extremely flexible allowing me to make my own hours and availability. My care is based on the clients needs. I am extremely active, allowing for more high density walks or runs. I am also very intune with your animals mood and energy. I find like people, some days we wanna stroll or go with the flow and other days we wanna fly like the wind.

Really great experience. Angela and Gabriel were wonderful with our 1.5-year-old dog, Jarvis! He is incredibly affectionate and full of energy, and they did an amazing job handling his excitement while making him feel comfortable and cared for. They were patient, attentive, and clearly experienced with energetic dogs. We felt confident leaving Jarvis with them and would absolutely trust them to watch him again. We highly recommend Angela and Gabriel to anyone looking for kind, reliable dog sitters!

Taleah was absolutely incredible with my two cats (including one very high energy kitten) and rabbit. She was kind enough to step in last minute when my sitter fell through and took such good care of the animals and house. Up and beyond! She shared lovely hilarious updates which brought some great smiles from her visits. Would highly recommend!

Alma was fantastic with Drax and Essie. She was dependable, communicated throughout each visit, and always sent photos and updates, which I really appreciated. It was clear the dogs were comfortable with her and well looked after. I felt confident knowing they were in good hands and will definitely be using her services again. Highly recommended!

Ashley took care of my two cats while I was away. This was my first time leaving my cats behind with a sitter and I am glad it was Ashley. One of my cat seemed extremely comfortable in the pics with her around. Ashley even made efforts to look for my other cat, the shy one, and sent me pics from it's hiding place. I got regular updates and photos. I would highly recommend Ashley.

Maia was great checking in on my cat and alleviated a lot of stress for him when I was out of town. Maia is a true animal lover and my cat was comfortable with her right away. She is reliable, communicates well, and follows all the instructions for your pet. I am looking forward to her caring for my cat again.

Stacey is wonderful! My very elderly cat was very happy seeing Stacey twice a day and is happy and calm upon my return. Stacey sent me lovely pictures of my cat daily and I felt so confident with her care of my old girl. Stacey was so easy to talk to and her visits were just what was needed. I will definitely call on her again.
This review is for the series of 'get-to-know-you' drop-ins Gwynn and I scheduled before I was away for a week that they helped with. My pup is very barky right now and it can be intimidating for some people, but Gwynn and I managed to move through this phase with intention and ease. My little Luga quickly warmed to Gwynn, and after only a couple of brief visits together Luga quickly learned that it is in fact a very HAPPY occasion to see Gwynn ;) This phase of the relationship-building between Gwynn and Luga was a bit anxiety-inducing for me, but Gwynn is so professional and experienced and compassionate and in command of energies that everything went according to plan, and I could not be more grateful for it. Thank you, Gwynn!!!!! <3

I used cat sitter service for the first time because the cattery I have used for years sadly closed their business recently. But Karin is a purrfect cat sitter, diligent and responsible. My two fussy cats absolutely loved her when I was on a week business trip. Thank you Karin, you are ace! 👍

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Victoria stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Victoria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
