“Aya was so warm and loving and responsive when with our duo Aussie pups. She was very communicative and kind and gave the dogs the love and attention they needed, exercise and interaction. We would bring Aya back to the house to take care of our pups anytime and hope to see her again soon. I know the dogs feel the same.”

“Diane was amazing with Cassie and taking care of the house. They went on frequent outings and did fun hikes and adventures together. Diane kept me in the loop every day for how things were going. Cassie was very happy upon me returning from my time away, and the house was spotless. I will absolutely have Diane back! Thanks so much 👍”

“Adria was a fantastic house sitter! She took amazing care of my dog and was very attentive to his needs and communicative. He can sometimes be challenging to walk due to some dog reactivity and I felt completely comfortable with him in her care. He got tons of indoor and outdoor play time and was extremely well looked after. She also left my house in excellent condition - I could barely even tell she'd been there at all it was so clean. I absolutely intend to use her for all future dog sitting and dog walking.”

“Jessie has looked after our pup twice now, staying in our house with her for a week both times. She took wonderful care of her & sent lots of pictures of their adventures together. She also went above & beyond to leave our house clean & lovely. An absolute star, I'd recommend Jessie to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

“Danielle took care during the day and over night of our two french bulldogs. She was a great dog sitter and treated our home with respect and left everything spot on. Will definitely re-book again. Thanks ever so much.”

“Rejan was a wonderful caregiver for our puppy Toby! She was very communicative, responded quickly, and sent pictures! She also came for a short visit before our booking to meet Toby and get to know our house before our trip, which we really appreciated. She brought her lovely dog Jasper for the dog sitting and Toby just loved playing and walking with Jasper. He was a tired and happy pup when we got home! Thank you so much Rejan!!”

“Thank you so much Melanie for looking after Zico while we were away. Your pictures and updates were awesome. Not only was Zico so well cared for our house was left so tidy and clean. We appreciated all of your efforts so very much. We look forward to booking you in the future.”

“Cass took care of our boy for a nights. She was super responsive leading up to their time together and asked lots of great questions to get a true sense of our dog. He immediately took to her on our meet and great. She has a fantastic calm energy. During their time together we got lots of updates and pics and the house was spotless when we got home. We'll definitely be booking Cass in the future!”

“Stephanie is the best! As a pet parent, leaving your pets with someone can be nerve-wracking. When I met Stephanie I was instantly put as ease! She’s super attentive, sends many photos, and I can tell my dogs have a great time with her :) I would 10/10 recommend!!”
About: I currently have a Sphynx (high maintenance cat breed with very specific needs) so I’m comfortable with tailored routines, diet restrictions, and reading an animal’s particular quirks.. I also grew up with dogs (multiple Border Collies) so I know the energy and exercise they need too. Whether your pet wants constant attention, space, or a specific routine, I adjust to what actually works for them :) I am currently working part time, so I have free time in my week and would love to drop in and take care of your animal(s). Typically I work Thursday-Saturday or Sunday, but am happy to accommodate as best I can if you need support during those days. In your home, I stick closely to their feeding schedule, walks, and any specific instructions, staying attentive to their comfort in their own environment throughout each visit. *I have a cat in my home, (2 bd duplex house). I am happy to have your pet stay in my home if they’re patient/friendly towards cats and my cat gets along with them -would need to discuss/meet & greet prior to me hosting*
“Valerie was great! I felt bad that my dogs are not great at walking but Val handled them well. It was so nice that she washed the sheets on the bed and left the place looking good. Thank you again Val”

“Frances looked after my cats as if they were her own. She was calm, gentle and patient, allowing them to interact at their own pace. Frances made additional visits to accommodate my travel times. She communicated daily along with photos. The house was left in pristine condition, with beds stripped and replaced with clean linens. I would definitely recommend Frances to look after your fur babies.”

“Silvia and Andrea are fantastic pet/house sitters. When we first met them, I had a nice impression. My dogs were so excited to welcome them, but they were so calm to greet my dogs. My dogs were settled quickly. During my husband and I were away, Andrea kept sending the updates for my doggies with pictures and videos. They looked like having fun with him. It’s nice to feel free to travel and know that my fur babies and my home were well cared for. My doggies are friendly, but Meadow is a timid girl. She got used to being with him quickly because of his clam and kind manner. I look forward to booking Silvia and Andrea again in the future!! Thanks for your great service. Keep up the great work!!”

“Tiana was a great sitter, and I would definitely recommend her to others. Her communication, availability, and flexibility as we made plans for her to stay at my house was SO kind, and for that alone I am so grateful!! But she did a great job taking care of my kitty, and I was happy to not have to worry about her while I was gone for multiple weeks. Tiana also went out of her way to be very respectful of my home while she was staying there. She clearly put thought and effort into making sure things were nice, clean, and set up for me when I arrived home. I can't tell you how good it felt to come home after a long trip to my space and cat being so well taken care of <3 I definitely want her to catsit again for me next time.”

Jessie has looked after our pup twice now, staying in our house with her for a week both times. She took wonderful care of her & sent lots of pictures of their adventures together. She also went above & beyond to leave our house clean & lovely. An absolute star, I'd recommend Jessie to anyone looking for a pet sitter!

Richelle was great, living in while we were away for 4 weeks. She was extremely attentive to our needy 15-yr old torbie, Ashanti, ensuring she got lots of supervised backyard time while we were away. This included keeping a watch out for raccoons, a potential hazard. She went so far as to remove the dead blooms on all of my rose bushes and the one tree lily that flowered just before we left. She kept us apprised of any perceived issues; Ashanti *plucks* when stressed, and occasionally *spots*. The house was neat and tidy when we returned. I highly recommend Richelle and hope she's available the next time my brother and I go on holiday.

I feel blessed to discover Michaella! I left her to watch over my home and two cats for a little over two weeks. I couldn't have asked for better communication and care. She followed directions, and asked questions when clarity was needed. But most importantly, the cats appeared to really like her, including my VERY shy void!

Amazing!!! This is our second booking with Madison and she rocks. Both times were for big milestones we needed to attend which needed our full attention so to have someone we could rely on and have one less thing to worry about, was such a relief. Excellent communicator and left the house better than when she arrived. Would highly recommend

Ava is a gem and made my first Rover experience so easy and comfortable. My cat is a bit older with some medical needs. Ava is experienced, asked a lot of great questions, and and was very communicative. I received lots of pictures, and returned to a happy and relaxed little animal. So grateful for you!

Liv stayed in at my place to sit Raya for almost a week— hands down the best experience I have ever had on Rover. She was punctual, friendly, warm, caring and thoughtful. She sent me pictures of my pup every day and let me know what they got up to that day—from ocean walks to chewing sticks in the yard. I came home to a happy and healthy dog, a clean apartment and watered plants. Cannot recommend Liv enough!

Alexa is the best. Our dog looked so happy in all the photos we received while we were away for the weekend. I really felt like our dog was so well looked after and given lots of love and affection. It was so nice coming home to a tidy place with a tired and content dog. Will 100 percent be using Alexa's pet services in the future!

Justina is a friendly & caring sitter who you can immediately tell loves animals. My puppy fell for her instantly & couldn’t stop giving her kisses 🥰 She helped us out with a very last-minute need for full day care & was professional, punctual & a delight to interact with throughout. We look forward to seeing you again soon, Justina!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oak Bay maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oak Bay walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oak Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
