About: Dogs and cats have always been special to me. Your furry family members are safe in my care. Check-ins, feedings, and medicine applications are all in my repertoire. I'm a BC native, new to the island. I'm a mortgage broker and have plenty of spare time, so pet sitting fits right into my lifestyle. I'll be there for your beloved family members when they need me. Walkings, feedings, medicine applications, pets, snuggles, and other common means of care are certainly available. I can also teach common tricks, if you have any requests.
“Bryce is the best sitter in the entire lower mainland. His knowledge and expertise is second to none and his carefulness to each pets needs is fantastic. Cannot recommend Bryce enough”

About: New clients on Rover can use my coupon code “ ARISAF94292” for $20 discount. I’ve had quite a bit of experience dog sitting and cat sitting for friends and my boss, often caring for multiple pets at the same time. I genuinely love being around animals and enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality and routine. I also have a 7-year-old Toy Poodle of my own, so I’m very familiar with the day-to-day responsibility of caring for a pet. He has a very strict diet, and I always need to keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn’t pick up or eat anything he shouldn’t. Because of this, I’m used to staying attentive and keeping an eye on pets throughout the day. I’m patient, responsible, and attentive to the little things, and I always want the pets in my care to feel safe, comfortable, and well loved. 🐾 I currently work part-time online from 4–7 p.m., so I have a very flexible schedule and spend most of my time at home. This gives me plenty of time to care for, play with, and keep an eye on your pups throughout the day. There’s also a dog park nearby, so I can take them out for a walk and some playtime during the day. I’m available for boarding most days of the week, and even while I’m working, I’m able to stay home with the pets. I love having animals around and will make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and company throughout the day. I’m happy to care for pets in their own home, and this is actually my preference as my apartment is fairly small. I find that staying in their familiar environment can also help pets feel more comfortable and relaxed while their owners are away. When staying at a client’s home, I’ll follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, bathroom breaks, and any special care or medication they need. I have a 7-year-old Toy Poodle named Mickey who is very friendly. If the client is comfortable with it, I may bring Mickey with me when providing overnight care. Of course, I would always confirm this with the owner beforehand and only bring him if they’re happy with the arrangement.
“Ailsa did a great job looking after our Hank and our place. Great communications, no problems whatsoever and Hank was a happy, happy boy when we got back home. 100% would use her again and would recommend her to anyone.”

About: My journey with dogs started early. I have loved and cared for my very own dog since I was 10 years old. This lifelong experience taught me how to read dog body language. I truly understand their routines, signals, and emotional needs. As I grew older, I naturally began pet sitting for my friends. I have successfully managed everything from high-energy outdoor walks to quiet, cozy evenings at home. I know exactly how to adapt to each unique pet's personality. I am currently working part-time and I am available Wednesday and thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as well as on Saturdays from 11:00 PM to 6:00 PM When caring for pets at my home, I provide a safe, fully supervised, and loving environment with plenty of playtime and attention. For services at your home, I strictly follow your pet's regular routine, ensure your property is completely secure, and send regular photo updates so you can have total peace of mind.
“According to Bailey, our Maltese, Pat treated him with attention and affection like never before (except from us) while we were away on Christmas vacation: he frankly hated to see her leave. Pat responded to our enquiry promptly and met with us on two occasions to get all the details regarding staying in our home, including Bailey's culinary details and exercise and sleeping preferences. Upon our return we found everything as we had left it and a very happy Bailey eager to have us go on another vacation in order to have fun with Pat again. We highly recommend Pat as she saved the situation for us. Initially, we did some "interviews" with a local kennel but were rejected since all Bailey did during the "all day trial" was try to escape. On future trips, Pat will be the first person we'll contact for the job.”

About: Ever since I was 5 we have had a dog or three in the house. I have learned from a young age how to care for, love, and properly discipline dogs to assure that they know they are loved and yet display the best behaviour possible! All while keeping them happy and healthy. I am a business owner and over the past year I have been able to step away from the front lines and do management. This gives me the time needed to spend with your dogs and make sure they are taken care of while you are away! As I cannot offer services at my home, I will assure that your home is taken care of as well as your dog. Your home will be treated as if it is mine and your dog aswell. There’s not much I love more in life than dogs.
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my whole life and can’t imagine it any other way! I grew up helping care for animals on friends’ farms and had five rabbits of my own while participating in 4-H. These days, I have a wonderful client whose two cats and one dog I care for often. At home, I share my life with a very energetic golden retriever named Dixie and a one-eyed cat named Kitten. Both of whom I absolutely adore. I’m comfortable with pets of all sizes and personalities, and I love spending time outdoors, going on hikes, and giving animals the attention and care they deserve. My weekly schedule varies as I am currently a part-time server and university student. At the moment, business is slow so Im looking for a little more excitement to fill my time. I do school online so location is not a problem and I can drive as needed. In my home and yours, every animal is treated like part of my family. I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved from the moment they walk through the door. I follow each pet’s routine as closely as possible, whether that means meal times, walks, playtime, or quiet time, so they feel right at home. I’m patient with shy or anxious animals and always make sure they get the space and reassurance they need.

Ailsa was great. She came over first time to get to know us and Teddy a little bit. She's really sweet with him and I can tell he really likes her. She sent updates and photos throughout the day. We felt like Teddy was safe and well cared for. I would recommend her and hire her again. :)

Willow is the BEST pet/house sitter I have ever had. She does what she promises to do and then some. She spends time and effort on your pet and cares for your home, unlike many that might show up for a few hours, if they show up at all. There’s no excuses or nonsense with Willow. Willow genuinely cares and is a very responsible person. You will have a care free time away, knowing that everything will be handled…she exceeds all expectations. Willow earned my trust and respect…I will not hesitate to have her pet/house sit again. She’s an all star, and wonderful person.

We have used several dog sitters from Rover and have always been pleased. Michelle is no exception. We had a sudden opportunity to go away for the weekend and our usual people were booked. We were delighted that Michelle was available and we are very grateful to her now that the weekend is over. She did a great job meeting the needs of our four different pets and their different personalities. She was also housesitting. The house was immaculate, and she had made every effort to water the plants, tidy up and generally welcome us home. She has a very winning personality– sees things positively and iseager to help and care for our pets. We would have her back in an instant and highly recommend her!

We were looking for the right person to care for our aging dog and we found the perfect person in Annastasia! Our girl is usually a bit put off with us when we leave her behind but we came home to a perfectly relaxed pup who didn't make any demands of us. Clearly our dog was happy with the care, the walks, the treats and the treatment she received with Annastasia, who sent us pictures and updated us daily. This was our dog's first time staying with Annastasia in our home. We have already booked her again and we will leave without a worry. In addition, Annastasia was a more than perfect house guest, tidying up after a long haired dog that continually brings in various bits of garden materials. Additionally, she even washed the linens we left for her. What a find!

Kaitlyn did a fantastic job looking after our senior dog. Chloe was very happy and clearly well looked after. I very much appreciated all the photos sent while we were away, the watering of my plants and the great communication. I would highly recommend Kaitlyn!

We had Alyssa come stay last minute for a trip, as our original pet care fell through. Alyssa was so lovely with our cat and bearded dragon, and had great communication throughout our time away. We felt like we could trust her right away, and came home to happy animals! She left our home clean and our yard was cared for. Thank you Alyssa!

Sara-Maude took such wonderful care of our Bichon Frise, Minnie! From the moment we met her, we knew Minnie was in great hands. She kept us updated with photos and messages throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We haven’t left our dog with someone who isn’t family for many years and we were a bit nervous, but this disappeared after the first hour of being away. Sara-Maude took Minnie on walks, gave her lots of love and cuddles, and truly treated her as if she were her own. It was clear that Minnie was happy, comfortable, and incredibly well cared for. Her genuine love for animals really shines through. She was kind, reliable, and very easy to communicate with throughout the entire stay. We are so grateful for the excellent care she provided and wouldn't hesitate to book with her again. She left our house in an even cleaner state than we left it. We highly recommend Sara-Maude to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of Minnie!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Colwood on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 581 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Colwood. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Colwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Colwood walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Colwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
