“Glory loves going to Danielle’s and having the chance to play with Gibuu. Danielle works on training points with Glory so she comes home even better than when she left!”

“Tyler is an extremely attentive and dedicated boarder. It was evident the effort he went to to ensure our dog was comfortable, loved, and well cared for. We felt so lucky to have him care for our senior dog!”

“Emma took wonderful care of Tisha! She kept us updated, sent photos, and was very attentive to his needs and routine. Tisha seemed happy and comfortable with her and her family. We really appreciated how caring and responsible Emma was. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Tisha! We would definitely be happy to have Tisha stay with Emma again. 😊🐶”

“Rebecca and her family were absolutely amazing with Scout, and we would highly recommend them! Rebecca took wonderful care of Scout while we were traveling in the area. She kept us updated with regular messages and photos of all their outdoor adventures, which gave us such peace of mind knowing he was having a great time. Scout came home happy, healthy, and clearly very well cared for. We’re so grateful to Rebecca and her family for treating him like one of their own. Thank you so much, Rebecca! We would absolutely love to rebook with you in the future and would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and loving sitter for their dog!”

“Sharon was great at communicating daily re: my dog's day and what they were doing. She was also very flexible re: the drop off and pick up arrangements, which I really appreciated. Isla seemed to have a nice relaxing time at Sharon's and I'd be happy to take Isla there again to stay with Sharon in the future.”

“Yuet continues to be amazing every time she sits for me. I think the highest praise I can provide is the fact that my dog Odin gets super excited when he realizes he is going to stay with Yuet.”

“Ben had a great stay with Tiana! He loves it there and runs right to her when we arrive. Tiana is a great communicator. We love all the pics of Ben and seeing him play with all the other pups!”

“Our 11 year old, Jinx, boarded with Joanne shortly after losing her bonded brother. Within 24hrs, she was relaxed and having fun with her new routine. Joanne is clearly fabulous with dogs and we expect Jinx will 'go on vacation' many more times. Thank you Joanne! 💕”

“My dog Odis was well taken care of. When we came back after 2 weeks he was very happy and healthy. He became part of their family and fit in very well. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.”

About: I've grown up with animals my entire life, from horses to hamsters and I could never live in a house without something furry and cuddly to love. When I was in high school I opted to find my own placement for work experience rather than the schools list as I really wanted to work in a reptile house. It was fantastic and I made great friends with a King snake who I named Karl. I work mainly nights on a pub so have my days free to walk as many pooches as I can. I have my own four legged friend who is in desperate need of another furry buddy so if yours is as playful as she is they will have the best time. We are also available for boarding for one, child friendly pooch at a time as we have a very confident toddler who loves doggy cuddles! I work from home so the pups will have constant access to the back yard. I tend to do a quick walk around the block in the morning to start the day and a really good walk in the afternoon, usually down to the dam or up to Mount Benson. I care for your pets as if they were my own. Both my partner and myself grew up surrounded by animals and consider ourselves a family of 5. The dogs take just as much of a priority as we do. When we go walking, it’s as a 5; camping, as a 5. You get the picture.
“Millie loved staying with Jody and the fur gang! Jody took such loving care and they had loads of fun! We got videos of walks and play and hangout time. We felt very assured that Millie was in great loving care with Jody!”

About: I have experience caring for both cats and dogs, having had pets of my own as well as caring for animals in my family. I’ve owned and cared for cats at different stages of their lives and have also adopted a Pit Bull mix. I’ve regularly cared for an active Husky and was responsible for maintaining her daily routine, including making sure she received her medication consistently. While I may not have decades of professional pet-care experience, I’m comfortable taking responsibility and adapting to each animal’s individual needs. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and comfort level, and I’m attentive to those differences. Whether it’s an energetic dog that needs plenty of exercise, a cat that prefers its own space, or an animal with specific care requirements, I’m comfortable learning what works and making sure they’re well looked after. I work full-time Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, so I’m away from home during the day. My schedule is best suited to cats and dogs who are comfortable being home alone during a typical workday. Outside of work, I’m home and available to give pets plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship. I’m fully available on weekends, holidays, and long weekends, making those times especially flexible for boarding and longer stays. I’m happy to work with each pet’s usual routine and make sure they’re comfortable and well cared for while they’re with me. I live in a 25-foot fifth wheel in a quiet, private setting with no pets of my own. While the space is smaller than a traditional home, it provides a cozy and comfortable environment where pets can stay close by and receive plenty of attention. I have a semi-fenced yard with almost an acre of surrounding space for outdoor time. I’m also just a five-minute walk or short drive from local trails and the Nanaimo River, giving us plenty of opportunities to get outside when appropriate. Because there are no other pets in the home, your pet can settle into their own space without having to share it with unfamiliar animals. I’ll always follow their routines, care instructions, and individual boundaries, with their safety and comfort as my priority.
“Was excellent with my anxious dog, took him in last minute when my usual sitter canceled. Goose hates the car and I had just drove with him for 4 hours in the car before I handed him off, which he was also anxious about, but he ended up chilling out and snuggling with Karuna at night. I super recommend Karuna”

“This was the first time I left my insecure little dog with a stranger. Her regular sitter was away so I entrusted her with Marcel and although I was apprehensive at first, I am so glad she got to experience a little “holiday” away from me. She played lots with their dog and went on daily walks (which I was also worried about because of her reactivity) but she apparently did well and is actually better now than she was before. I think it was a very positive experience for both me and my dog.”

“We are very happy with Paula and the way she looked after Benji for the week we were away. Benji got along very well with Paula and her dog. We will certainly use her boarding service again in the future. Thank you Paula.”

The median cost per night for pet boarding in Ladysmith is $55
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ladysmith
Janice was wonderful with my small dog, Buko! I am nervous leaving him with dogsitters typically because he is an anxious and sensitive dog. Janice took great care of my pup and sharing lots of photos and videos of him during their adventures. She reassured me that Buko was doing well because a tired dog (returning from a long hike) is a well-behaved dog! Definitely recommend :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
