“Lily loved spending the day with Rebecca and her two pups! Rebecca asked all the questions and sent me updates through the day and was super flexible with my booking. I would book with Rebecca again!”

“Wow….Jadyn is by far the best puppy sitter we have ever had. She treated our guy like her own and he was spoiled with hikes and walks almost daily….he is probably wishing he could go back! We are so grateful and were so comfortable leaving Opie in her care. She made things easy with top notch communication as well as the daily photos opportunities. Thanks Jadyn…..we will be calling you again!”

“We came to Dorothy for the care of our 2 dogs Coco and Gracie and we were absolutely delighted with the care, compassion and dedication provided by Dorothy. Dorothy understands special needs and listens very carefully to instructions. We have already booked another overnight stay and we thoroughly recommend her.”

“We are very happy with Paula and the way she looked after Benji for the week we were away. Benji got along very well with Paula and her dog. We will certainly use her boarding service again in the future. Thank you Paula.”

“Was excellent with my anxious dog, took him in last minute when my usual sitter canceled. Goose hates the car and I had just drove with him for 4 hours in the car before I handed him off, which he was also anxious about, but he ended up chilling out and snuggling with Karuna at night. I super recommend Karuna”

About: I've grown up with animals my entire life, from horses to hamsters and I could never live in a house without something furry and cuddly to love. When I was in high school I opted to find my own placement for work experience rather than the schools list as I really wanted to work in a reptile house. It was fantastic and I made great friends with a King snake who I named Karl. I work mainly nights on a pub so have my days free to walk as many pooches as I can. I have my own four legged friend who is in desperate need of another furry buddy so if yours is as playful as she is they will have the best time. We are also available for boarding for one, child friendly pooch at a time as we have a very confident toddler who loves doggy cuddles! I work from home so the pups will have constant access to the back yard. I tend to do a quick walk around the block in the morning to start the day and a really good walk in the afternoon, usually down to the dam or up to Mount Benson. I care for your pets as if they were my own. Both my partner and myself grew up surrounded by animals and consider ourselves a family of 5. The dogs take just as much of a priority as we do. When we go walking, it’s as a 5; camping, as a 5. You get the picture.
“Doug and Janice fortunately were able to take Bailey, our Maltese Bailey, on short notice for day time sitting at their home allowing us to attend the 3 day Beachfest concert at Parksville. Bailey is anxious to be away from home but they were very warm and loving to him and he relaxed and was walked and played with by two people who really know their stuff and love dogs like if they were their own. Well definitely will be booking Bailey with them again.”

“Our labradoodle Ryder had a wonderful time at Paula's! He had lots of walks to the park, and lots of playtime and exploring in their large fenced yard. We were kept updated with pictures, which we appreciated. Thank you Paula and your family for taking great care of him for us!”

“Really happy with Sharons wonderful care of my dog Lenny. She sent me multiple updates each day and photos of his walks and naps. He seemed very happy when I picked him up and she was genuinely invested in his needs and care. I hope to use her again and would absolutely recommend her to other people in need of pet care.”
About: I have had a dog or taken care of dogs since I was a little girl. Family, neighbours and friends have all relied on me to help take care of their pets for many years. I am a huge animal lover and a health care worker and will always provide the best and safest care for your pup. Recently I have fostered some dogs through a local rescue and helped them find their new home. I have learned alot about behaviours and training with these pups. We love to play in the yard or go for walks, and have lots of snuggles on the couch :) I currently work part time so have lots of time available to spend with your dog! My flexible schedule allows me to board your pet overnight any day of the week, or drop in for visits/walks. I have a fenced back yard and two small dogs to keep your fur baby company! Your dog is welcome to treat our home as their own and I will give them lots of love and be devoted to their happiness and well being while you are away.
“Courtenay and her family were amazing hosts for our 13 month old golden retriever. Even though it was his first time staying with strangers, they quickly helped him feel like part of the family and showered him with attention. Courtenay’s experience and knowledge helped ensure our fur baby was safe and well cared for. We also appreciated her excellent communication and video updates.”

“I was really anxious about using Rover for the first time but Jenn made me feel comfortable as soon as I messaged her about looking after Frankie. She was responsive, accommodating to our schedule changes and the pick up/drop off were very smooth. She took Frankie for a long walk and sent pictures of their adventures together. I would definitely recommend Jenn and would leave Frankie with her again. Thank you Jenn!”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life. We had Golden Retrievers and a Shepard growing up and now I have my own fur baby who is a Chocolate Lab named Arthur. I’ve worked in the pet industry for many years from retail, assisting in a Vet clinic and a Sales Rep for a pet product company. I have a lot of free weekends and what better way to spend that extra time than to spend it with dogs! Please keep in mind I do have a dog that would also be in the home so your dog must be okay with other dogs. I believe in a healthy balance of exercise and down time. I will typically do 1-2 walks a day, play in the back yard and down time with lots of cuddles. I would also like to mention, that If you have a shy or senior dog that likes a calm environment then this is your place!
About: My name is Casey, I am a dental assistant with the oral surgeons. I typically work 4 days a week, with random days off. My dog Benson and I love to meet and play with all sorts of dogs. Benson gets along with everyone, especially those with high energy! Benson and I are looking for someone to spend my day’s off with. Our dream doggy day is full of puppy cuddles and someone taking use for long walks all around town. I grew up with labs, but love all fur babies. I have an allergy to cats, so unfortunately I’m unable to care for them. But I love and have experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes. I can’t wait to meet you and your precious doggos! I work very close to home (3 minutes away) and with only working 3-4 days a week, I have lots of time to spend with my furry friends. My back yard is fully fenced. My dog, Benson, is always happy to have a friend to keep company. However, my front yard is not fenced.
“Jessica was incredibly caring, patient, and understanding with our shy dog, Sawyer. She knew exactly how to help him feel comfortable and at home during his overnight stay. Sawyer got lots of exercise, had a great time playing, and came home happy and relaxed. Jessica also sent us photos and updates throughout his stay, which we really appreciated and made us feel at ease. I would highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their furry family member!”

“Great sitter! Our Teddy Bear had a great time. We received lots of updates and photos so we always knew what he was up to. I had a lot of last minute changes and they were very accommodating. We will definitely use them again.”

About: I have experience caring for dogs and cats of various ages and personalities, including puppies and seniors. I help with feeding, walking, playtime, and daily routines while ensuring pets feel safe and loved. I currently work from home Monday to Friday, which allows me to be present and attentive throughout the day. I can provide regular potty breaks, playtime, feeding, and companionship during working hours. I’m also fully available on weekends and can be flexible to meet your dog’s routine and needs. I make sure dogs are never left alone for long periods and always receive plenty of attention, care, and supervision throughout their stay with us.

Our dogs had a great time staying with Lindsey! We really appreciated that she shared updates during their stay so we knew what they were up to, and they were happily exhausted from playing all weekend when we picked them up. Thanks for taking great care of our pups!

We knew our Chips was safe and well cared for with Diana so we could leave him over night without worry to go out of town - she sent us a picture of him all snuggled in so we knew he was safe and secure and not anxious even though he is a little anxious all the time :)

Tiffany was absolutely amazing! She accepted a rather long visit on very short notice and was so kind, understanding, and accommodating throughout the entire process. Finley had such a great time with her and came back happy and comfortable. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

Yuet Pao took such great care of our little Kibou. This was our first time leaving our kitten and we couldn't be happier to have found someone so attentive to our girl. We have never used this service before and I highly recommend Yuet Pao to any other fur parent looking for someone to watch their animal. We received regular messages with updates and pictures during her stay and we will make sure to book again next time we are out of town. Thanks again!

My dog Penny had an amazing stay with Kim! I received lots of updates to let me know how my dog was doing and Penny thrived in such a loving and warm environment. I will 1000% be booking Kim again for my next trip- it is so great to have such peace of mind while away!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
