“Yuet did a great job with my dog. We had regular updates on how he was doing with lots of pictures and videos. I would highly recommend Yuet for taking care of your furry friend.”

“Haley and Mark gave Patches plenty of attention and exercise, which is very much what makes Patches happy. I was sent many pictures of Patches on her walks, with Nova (their dog), relaxing on her bed and sniffing around the yard. Haley and Mark were great!!”

“We feel very lucky to have found Kelly and Natalie to watch after our dear pup Niko. Niko hadn't spent a night away from home before when we found ourselves looking for care. Kelly and Natalie were recommended to us from a man and his puppy we met at a dog park. When we met Kelly to drop off Niko for his first sleepover, Kelly was terrific. She made sure both us and Niko were very comfortable before we headed out. While caring for Niko, we received many pictures from Kelly and Natalie to keep us updated on Niko's adventures. That definitely helped putting us at ease as we could see how much fun he was having going on hikes, beach walks, and finally snuggling in the evening. We will 100% continue to engage Kelly and Natalie to look after Niko and highly recommend to all dog owners looking for loving care while they are away.”

“Susan took amazing care of my chihuahua and cat while away on a recent vacation. I was so impressed by the space in her home that she has dedicated to the cats. It was very clean, cozy, and full of things for the cats to climb and perches to look out the window. My chihuahua was spoiled with walks and cuddles and spent time sun tanning outside (his favorite pastime). Susan sent daily photo updates and was amazing when it came to communication before and during their stay. At one point we thought our flight home would be canceled due to a pending airline strike and Susan was totally ok with us extending the animals stay which relieved a lot of stress for us. (Thankfully we made it home on time anyway). I would 100% recommend Susan and will definitely use her again.”

“This lovely family took such good care of Opie. I know he was a bit of a brat but they handled him well. He loved their boys and was so tired he slept for 2 days. Thank you for your care and attention.”

“Coraline and Valentin were wonderful! Friendly, flexible, compassionate, and obviously Robby was very comfortable with them. Thank you! Hopefully we'll see you again!”

“Willow had an amazing time with Carolyn and her family! She went up the alberni lookout and loved playing in her huge yard. I appreciated all the updates and communication was great. We look forward to seeing them again.”

“Jessica was great. Her and Bruno got along awesome right away during the meet and greet and he didnt want to leave. I got updates and pics everyday. Bruno looked like he a great time playing with other fury friends and lots of walks. Very caring professional and Id highly recommend.”

“Tyler was amazing. Kita loved her time with him, as evidenced by all the wonderful photos we received of her stay. Would highly recommend Tyler and Kita will be visiting him again soon.”

About: I’ve cared for pets of different ages, temperaments, and needs, including energetic puppies and senior dogs who require extra patience and attention. Due to my experience as a nursing student, I’m comfortable following detailed routines, giving medications if needed, and making sure pets feel calm and secure in their environment. What sets me apart is that I genuinely enjoy spending quality time with animals rather than just “checking in” on them. I’m very attentive, reliable, and communicative, so owners can feel confident their pets are getting lots of care, affection, and supervision. I also understand how important consistency is for pets, so I always try to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. Pet care fits very naturally into my routine because I have a flexible schedule and enjoy staying active. I’m able to make time throughout the day for walks, feeding, playtime, bathroom breaks, and giving pets attention and companionship. I’m also organized and reliable when it comes to following routines, so I can easily accommodate specific schedules or care instructions to help pets feel comfortable and cared for. I always prioritize making pets feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while in my care. In a client’s home, I respect their routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions or house rules. I make sure pets get lots of attention, supervision, and affection so they feel secure while their owner is away. I’m attentive to details like keeping doors and gates secure, monitoring pets during walks or outdoor time, and making sure their environment stays clean and safe. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel reassured that their pet is happy and well cared for.
“My two Aussie's had an absolute blast with Dorothy! She was so helpful by keeping me updated on how they were and even included photos! Thank you I look forward to our next booking ❤️”

“I am so happy to have found this lovely couple who obviously care for dogs and cats. My small dog really enjoyed her time and came home exhausted but happy. Thanks so much for caring so nicely for her. Made my time away so much more enjoyable”

“Marcel with his wife, have been amazing in caring for Joey. I get regular updates and photos that show Joey enjoying the ‘good life’ in their home. I was impressed with their meticulously cared for home complete with a sun shaded dog run. I completely trust their knowledge and experience leaving Joey in their care.”

“Cat was absolutely amazing with Forrest, she took such good care of him and kept us updated the whole way. He was right at home there, and got lots of TLC. Will definitely be bringing him back.”
“Courtenay and her family were amazing hosts for our 13 month old golden retriever. Even though it was his first time staying with strangers, they quickly helped him feel like part of the family and showered him with attention. Courtenay’s experience and knowledge helped ensure our fur baby was safe and well cared for. We also appreciated her excellent communication and video updates.”

About: My Experience I have spent over 25 years caring for pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. I have advanced canine husbandy, behavioral and training skills. I learned early on how to read animal body language and provide the love and structure they need. Managing everything from high-energy puppies to gentle senior animals. What I Can Handle Special Needs & Medical Care: I am fully comfortable administering oral medications, topical treatments, and adhering to strict dietary restrictions or feeding schedules. I hold Level 2 canine first aid. Puppies & Seniors: I understand the patience required for potty-training puppies, as well as the gentle, slow-paced care needed for senior dogs with arthritis or cognitive decline. All sizes welcome, and all ages from 8 weeks to 18 years. I also handle intact dogs in a multi sexed household. It is difficult to find care for unneutered dogs and that is not a problem here. I personally have owned 4 lb chihuahuas all the way to 90lb powerful breeds. Dogs that may be deemed unsuitable for doggie daycare or kenneling will thrive at my home. I do not take any other animals during the time for these clients, they have individualized needs and I have options for integration or keeping all dogs separate. I typically only take 1 client's dog (s) at a time to ensure safety and to make sure your pup has a wonderful time here. Behavioral Nuances: I have experience with anxious, rescue, or reactive dogs. I know how to maintain a calm environment, avoid triggers on walks, and give them space to build trust at their own pace. My Routine When your pet is with me, their safety and happiness are my top priorities. A typical day includes structured potty breaks every 2-3 hours (for adult dogs), engaging playtime, and daily walks tailored to your dog's energy level. I strictly follow your home rules—whether that means keeping them off the couch or reinforcing their current training commands. You can expect photos and text updates so you never have to worry about how they are doing. I work from home and your pets will receive constant supervision & cozy couch for cuddle time. If I do leave it is for an errand or an appointment. Never gone more than 1-3 hours. We live on a 1/2 acre fully fenced (6ft) yard. Dogs who can handle free roam will be able to do so as the doors are left open in warm weather to come and go. Free to relax on a huge ground level deck in the sun beams or find a shady spot to nap. Play time is party time! We monitor play with our dogs 100% to ensure everyone gets along. I have decades of experience integrating dogs properly to a multi-dog situation by closely observing what is and isn't working for each individual and the dynamic changes required for success! My dogs are well socialized and stable.
“Lorena and Michael took fantastic care of my husky, Nova! She’s a rescue and has some quirks, but they were great with all her needs and very communicative while we were away. Their dog Leia was very sweet and receptive to Nova’s boundaries, and Michael was very knowledgeable with dog cues and behaviour which gave me great confidence in leaving my pup with them. I would leave Nova with them again in a heartbeat! Thanks again.”

About: I have over 3 years of hands-on experience working in busy doggy daycares, caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I’ve also volunteered with the SPCA, giving me experience with animals who need extra patience, gentle handling, and understanding. At home, I have both a dog and a cat, so I’m very familiar with daily routines, feeding, exercise needs, enrichment, and creating a calm, safe environment for pets. I’m confident with everything from high-energy pups to shy or sensitive animals and I always follow each pet’s unique routine. Your pet will be treated like family — with lots of love, attention, and care every step of the way. I run my own cleaning business, which means I can fully control my schedule. I’m only away from home for short periods, and I’m able to plan my work around the pets I’m caring for. If your pet needs 24-hour care or close supervision, I can usually accommodate that by adjusting my bookings. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine — I’m home often, I take regular outdoor breaks for walks and playtime, and I make sure each pet gets plenty of attention, enrichment, and company throughout the day. You can feel confident knowing your pet won’t be left alone for long and will be cared for like my own. Your pet’s safety and comfort come first. I keep a secure, clean, and cozy environment, and follow your pet’s usual routine to help them feel at ease. I take my own dog for two walks a day, and there’s a fenced off-leash dog park nearby that I love to visit — your pet is welcome to join if that’s something you’re comfortable with. In your home, I care for your pet just like I would in mine — with love, supervision, and consistency.
Parksville pet parents share their Rover experiences
Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. And she seemed relaxed and content when we picked her up. We will definitely go back to Paula in the future. Matthew and Gillian

Thank you to Alexia and her family for making Sonny's stay such a great experience. We felt at ease from the moment Sonny stepped into your yard and knew she was with a dog family who understood the one-on-one needs of a senior pet. She really looked like one of the family with all the photos, and extended our holiday with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a really special place for dogs and would highly recommend Alexia and her family for creating such a welcoming environment. I jokingly call it "Sonny's country club" as that's what it felt like. Thank you so much!
