“This was my first time leaving Cedar with a sitter, he came back very happy! I received lots of photos and videos of his stay, which gave me reinsurance and made me feel comfortable :) Yuet was very easy to communicate with and flexible with timing!”

“Such a lovely family! We spent 3 nights away knowing Charlie was in caring hands and have no doubt she received all the ball throws and cuddles her heart desired. Photo updates were appreciated as well :) Thank you Catherine and Doug!”

“Willow had an amazing time with Carolyn and her family! She went up the alberni lookout and loved playing in her huge yard. I appreciated all the updates and communication was great. We look forward to seeing them again.”

“Tyler is a wonderful human being and the dog whisperer for sure - he’s caring, professional, a great communicator- it was the first time I had ever left my little dog, Elton John. Tyler made it a seamless process from drop off to pick up. And he was accommodating- I took the later ferry and he stayed up, gave me a detailed account of Elton’s experience- I appreciated all of it. I will definitely book with him again- I don’t think Elton wanted to leave! Thank you Tyler- you’re the best! 🐶”

“Cat was absolutely amazing with Forrest, she took such good care of him and kept us updated the whole way. He was right at home there, and got lots of TLC. Will definitely be bringing him back.”
“Robert looked after our two dogs and did an amazing job. He communicated while we were gone and when the dogs returned home they were happy and tired from exercise…and clean! We really appreciate the excellent care.”

“Was excellent with my anxious dog, took him in last minute when my usual sitter canceled. Goose hates the car and I had just drove with him for 4 hours in the car before I handed him off, which he was also anxious about, but he ended up chilling out and snuggling with Karuna at night. I super recommend Karuna”

“Joanne made huge efforts to ensure Mabel was comfortable and happy in her home. When Mabel refused to get in her car, Joanne provided alternative forms of exercise for her. It was obvious she connected well with Mabel and other dogs. Joanne also kept me updated and well informed about Mabel. Thank You!”

“Tiffany was absolutely amazing with my babies Max & Rosie 🥹🐾💕 She took such good care of them and treated them like her own. I got updates, photos, and could tell they were so happy and comfortable the whole time 🩷 It means so much knowing I can leave them with someone I fully trust. Thank you again Tiffany for loving my little pom babies so much ✨🐶 I would 1000% recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and sweet dog sitter 💕”

“Coraline and Valentin were wonderful! Friendly, flexible, compassionate, and obviously Robby was very comfortable with them. Thank you! Hopefully we'll see you again!”

“Courtenay and her family were amazing hosts for our 13 month old golden retriever. Even though it was his first time staying with strangers, they quickly helped him feel like part of the family and showered him with attention. Courtenay’s experience and knowledge helped ensure our fur baby was safe and well cared for. We also appreciated her excellent communication and video updates.”

“Lily loved spending the day with Rebecca and her two pups! Rebecca asked all the questions and sent me updates through the day and was super flexible with my booking. I would book with Rebecca again!”

“I recently had my Aussie/collie stay overnight with Dorothy and I really felt confident and at ease after set up a quick meet and greet. I will definitely contact Dorothy again soon. Our doggo was a good girl too 😊”

Natalia and her husband were fantastic hosts and saved us last minute when one of our doggy sit plans fell through. We scrambled at 6 am finding someone to sit for the day, and Natalia responded immediately. Natalia was flexible on pickup and drop off times, and I could tell Cyrus had a great time. They even sent photos of going on a walk with Cyrus! Highly recommend, if you are in the Parksville area and need a reliable and safe sitter, Natalia is a fantastic option! Thank you so much! Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. And she seemed relaxed and content when we picked her up. We will definitely go back to Paula in the future. Matthew and Gillian

Thank you to Alexia and her family for making Sonny's stay such a great experience. We felt at ease from the moment Sonny stepped into your yard and knew she was with a dog family who understood the one-on-one needs of a senior pet. She really looked like one of the family with all the photos, and extended our holiday with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a really special place for dogs and would highly recommend Alexia and her family for creating such a welcoming environment. I jokingly call it "Sonny's country club" as that's what it felt like. Thank you so much!

Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
