About: While I'm new to Rover, I bring decades of real-life experience caring for both animals and homes. I'm committed to providing personalized, dependable care while building lasting relationships with the families I serve. As a lifelong pet owner, I understand that every pet has their own unique personality - from playful and social to shy, independent, anxious or sensitive. I create a calm, predictable environment where pets feel safe, respected and cared for - taking the time to read their cues and build trust at their own pace. I'm experienced caring for puppies, adult and senior pets, as well as pets with special care needs. This includes administering medications, supporting pets with mobility challenges and providing calm, patient care for anxious, fearful or reactive pets while maintaining the routines that help them feel secure in their own familiar environment. My calm, observant nature allows me to notice subtle changes in behaviour, appetite or energy and I'll always keep you informed so you can enjoy peace of mind while you're away. I understand the trust involved in leaving your beloved pet - and your home - in someone else's care. I bring a reliable, respectful and detail-oriented approach to every booking. For overnight stays, I travel fully equipped with my own portable bed, bedding, towels and cooler, allowing me to settle in comfortably while keeping your home tidy and minimizing disruption. My goal is for both you and your furry family members to feel relaxed, comfortable and confident while you're away, knowing they're receiving compassionate, attentive care every step of the way. Additional Care Needs Please note that Puppy Rate also applies to pets requiring additional time, attention or specialized care. This may include: 🐾 Puppies requiring frequent potty breaks, training reinforcement or close supervision. 🐾 Senior pets needing extra assistance with mobility, more frequent outings or medication administration. 🐾 Special-needs pets requiring medication, mobility support or individualized care. 🐾 Pets experiencing high anxiety, fearfulness or reactivity who benefit from a calm, patient approach and extra time to build trust. Every pet is unique and I'm always happy to discuss your pet's specific needs before booking to ensure they're receiving the level of care they deserve. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Energy Therapist and Certified Pet First Aid Provider, I combine professional experience with compassionate, heart-led care—treating every pet as if they were my own. As someone who is location-independent and runs a remote Wholistic Wellness business. I have the flexibility to travel and spend meaningful time with animals in their home. I create a calm, safe environment by following your pet’s routine, offering attentive care and helping them feel secure, settled and supported in your home.
“This was Thelma’s 2nd time with my furry babies and they have become even more comfortable around her! They are their usually selves which makes me so happy. Thelma is great at communicating how my pets are doing and leaves great updated notes at the end of her stay!”

“We are beyond grateful for the amazing care Phia provided our little girl Angel!! From our first contact with Phia on Rover to our two meet and greets. Phia was very professional and supportive. As this was our first time using Rover, Phia explained the process. During our first meet and greet she was already a friend to our dog. During our second meeting, we went over our home and all our dog instructions. As our Angel is very picky and had extra care needs during the feeding time. She assured our time away would be harder on us as she would provide extra love and playtime with Angel. While away we received several daily reports and daily photos. The transition from us leaving went extremely good and our dog adjusted well with Phia’s love. Upon our return our home was well taken care of and cleaned, including the towels and bedding. Knowing we were coming home at 3 am from a long flight, Phia had our beds ready to climb into and sleep. We cannot say enough good things about Phia. We will use her again and highly recommend her to anyone!! Thank you Phia!!! ♥️”

About: I’ve loved caring for animals for as long as I can remember and I will always be there for your furry friends when they need me. My pet care experience ranges from timid elderly cats, to high energy dog breeds that pack a little extra punch, as well as senior friends who need a little extra attention. I run marathons so I am always looking for a running buddy to let off steam with but I’m always ok to take it slow too. As a university student, my schedule is quite flexible and I’m available from early mornings to late nights most days of the week for walking, pee breaks, and house sitting. I always try to respect your pet’s space and routine by letting them guide interactions, especially as we get used to each other. As someone who’s cared for many senior animals, I have become a pro at disguising medication as treats, and am more than happy to make any accommodations they need. Small dog to big, I am comfortable with any size dog on the leash and am not afraid to stand my ground to keep everyone safe and happy :).
“Great dog sitter. Got lots of updates with pictures! She let me know exactly how he was doing and was very good at communicating. My dog is very anxious and has separation anxiety from me. She was so good with him & was flexible in the times that she would pop in and out throughout the day to make the experience best for Rex. Overall great pet sitter, would highly recommend. Also experienced in giving medication which is a huge relief!”

“Erin did an excellent job taking care of my elderly dog & even older cat! Both of them took a liking to her straight away which is wonderful as our dog is quite picky with his people :) Would highly recommend, and look forward to her next visit.”
“This was the very first time I have ever had anyone come to my home and stay with my dogs. Alyssa really made this first experience painless and stress free for me. She was lovely with my two dogs, and was happy to send photos of them for me throughout her stay. Not only that, but she brought the garbage cans in, left the house clean and tidy, and even stripped her bed for me. She was a delight and I will not hesitate to call her in the future!”

“Jaydyn took care of our two dogs for several days and did a wonderful job! She was professional, kind and courteous. She communicated with me daily and sent photo updates. I felt confident my dogs were in good hands and highly recommend Jaydyn as a dog sitter. Thank you Jaydyn!”

“Janean was great. Harper is a large mature dog who does not take to people easily. After 1 visit, when Janean came into the house, Harper sat beside her and leaned into her. High praise indeed! She kept the dogs calm and happy, sent lots of photos and updates, made a positive impression on our landlords and left the house clean and tidy on our return. This was a 2 week pretty sitting job and I would be comfortable having her stay longer.”

About: I have been in the pet care business for over 10 years. From doggie walks to overnight stays. I understand what it takes to be a loving and responsible care giver as I have needed to have a person care for my pets when I'm away. We all need to feel the confidence when putting the trust into a person who will be caring for our family members. Communication is key with regular updates. I am retired so I make my own hours. I am available for most days other than my time away. Only looking to book locally . Making sure I understand all the pet care details, having them written down to make sure all is being done correctly. Regular communication between the parties.
About: I have previously lived with 4 large dogs! And loved every minute of it. During this time I helped raise two puppies and took all 4 for frequent walks. I am available on Saturday and Sunday full time. Otherwise for week days I am available from the morning until 4 pm as I work evenings. I am an expert at building relationships with other peoples dogs! I love to play with them, take for walks or even just cuddle with them on the sofa I am also willing to do whatever necessary to keep them safe
“Rhaya was just wonderful with my two dogs! She was thoughtful and patient and very kind, and both my boys had a very happy time with her. I really appreciated all the little things she thought of, to make things comfortable and fun for them. We all look forward to the next time she cares for them:)”

“Jilly had a sleepover and looked after my 2 pups while I was out of town. My first time leaving them over night with a sitter. I felt 100% confident they were in good hands and would be well looked after. Will definitely be booking with Jilly for any future travels. Thank you ❤️”

“I cannot say enough good things about Karen! She is hands down 12 stars out of 5. Our boys received premium love and care throughout the entire stay. I am so thankful to have found Karen as she goes above and beyond! Thank you so much!!!”
“I was so grateful to have Jillian look after my kitty and home while I was away. She's very friendly and sweet and sent regular updates while we were away so we knew how Geronimo was doing. She even cleaned before she left so we didn't have to do a thing when we came home. I would definitely recommend her and will book with her again. Thanks so much Jillian!”

“At first we were nervous to let someone we don't know stay at our home, but Kylee arranged to meet us a few days earlier to introduce herself, which put all of the uncertainty aside. She is friendly, courteous, and I had no doubt she would take good care of Josie, Jenny and Thandi...and of course our home. To look after 3 dogs, one still a pup, is a tall order, but Kylee was a real trooper and did an amazing job! She communicated well and kept up us up to speed with how they were doing during our trip. Thank you for leaving the house clean and tidy. We will certainly make use of your services again :-)”

“If there is someone whom you can trust to watch your new puppy, 7-year-old chi and stay in your home it would be 100% Ashley, me and my partner both agreed shortly after meeting with her that she is responsible, caring and would be an excellent fit to watch our pups. And most importantly someone you can trust with all that. We will happily be booking with her again. Thanks again Ashley!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Parksville on Rover is $64.75 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 144 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Parksville. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Parksville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Parksville walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Parksville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
