“Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. This has taught me many valuable skills including post surgical / wound care, administration of various medications, dietary needs, and many other pet caring skills. “Alexia and her mom Shelley were absolutely amazing! My partner and I were visiting the island and wanted to do a whale watching trip. We knew we didn’t want to leave our dogs in the RV and decided to try to find someone to watch them. We thought it would be a long shot with such short notice and it being on a Sunday but began calling around. After reaching out to quite a few daycares in Nanaimo and Parksville and being told they were full I decided to try using Rover for the first time. I was super nervous but found Alexia and read the reviews and decided to message her. Alexia responded almost immediately and agreed to take both of our dogs for the following day. I asked Alexia a million questions and was worried about the heat wave and she answered everything with no issues and made me feel confident that the dogs would be in good hands. We dropped the dogs off the next day and were greeted by Shelley who was very kind. Shelley showed us where the dogs would be staying and we shared a few details with her as both our dogs had minor ailments at the time. After we left and were on the tour we received many pictures of our dogs from Alexia that were absolutely stunning and she provided us updates on their well being. We enjoyed our tour and weren’t worried at all. When we picked the dogs up you could tell they had a great time and despite the heat they didn’t seem too hot at all. Shelley even let us know that our one dog might have a bladder infection which helped confirm our suspicions we had as well. If we ever return to the island we would definitely reach out to Alexia again if we needed to have our dogs looked after.”

Missing the love of our own pets (Scruffy lived to 17 and Cedes lived to 16). So we have decided that the love of your pets, would be lovely and would benefit all involved. We live 2 blocks from the beach, which gives the dogs a great run and or swim permitting of course :) My wife and I are both retired and walk to the beach everyday, would be nice to have a dog to walk with us. For the evenings it would be nice to cuddle up to a dog or cat. We live on the bottom floor of a pet friendly building, with access to a yard. This has taught me many valuable skills including post surgical / wound care, administration of various medications, dietary needs, and many other pet caring skills. I also have spent a great deal of time caring for my own elderly doggy who recently passed from cancer. This in conjunction with my training has given me a great deal of experience working with high need pets who require complicated care. I’ve also done some casual cat and dog sitting for family, friends, and coworkers. Since my own doggie passed I have been missing my pet time and thought this would be the perfect way to get my fix! :) This September I’ll be going into full time school, as a student I will need to be on the VIU campus for 2-8 hours daily on weekdays. I’ll be available for pet care before and after class, and all day on weekends. :) As someone who has worked with pets of all kinds with varying medical and physical needs you can rest assured that I will have both the skills and knowledge to give your pet the absolute best care!

We grew up with dogs so we understand the different needs at each stage of a dog’s life, from puppy to adult to senior. We both work together on our family flower farm so we have a flexible work schedule during the day to walk your dog or visit them. Most of the time it will be one of us caring for your dog, but on lucky days it will be both of us! Getting to know your dog and their individual needs is important to us. We believe building trust and a good relationship is key to making sure your dog feels safe and happy on every walk. We are good communicators, but most importantly, we listen to how you want your dog cared for and make sure to follow their routine and needs.

“Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes.
