“Susan was a great dog sitter and I would recommend her. She took me on as a client with two days notice. I was able to meet with her prior to the two week event. She took very good care of my little buddy, gave suggestions to his care when needed and kept me daily informed about him. I even had pictures of him which I appreciated a lot. I would use her services again without hesitation.”

“As always, Lauren is amazing with Milanesa. She is so happy staying with her and her family. Milanesa has so much fun and feels very loved every time she stays with Lauren. We will definitely repeat next time.”

“Our labradoodle Ryder had a wonderful time at Paula's! He had lots of walks to the park, and lots of playtime and exploring in their large fenced yard. We were kept updated with pictures, which we appreciated. Thank you Paula and your family for taking great care of him for us!”

“Amazing, calming and reassuring experience. First time leaving Dukey overnight and throughout the experience I felt reassured that he was in ideal hands. Grateful! Amazing puppy sitter. Dukey loved it!”

“My dog Hank had a great time with Catherine & Douglas! They sent lots of pictures with him playing with their boys, swimming, and relaxing in the yard. I wasn’t sure he was going to want to come home after his doggie holiday. :) Would 100% recommend!”

“Very accommodating and caring. Thank you for taking Barley on short notice! It was such a relief to know he was in safe hands, getting lots of attention and walks.”

“Leaving Basil with Marcy was our first experience with Rover and it was excellent! Marcy was very accommodating of changes in our schedule and made sure that Basil had a great time during his stay. Videos and photos of his escapades were a bonus We will definitely be booking with Marcy again soon!”

“Douglas and Janice are amazing! They take such great care of Linus and Lucy. I really appreciate knowing they are well looked after and can be away from them and not worry. Thank you Douglas and Janice.”

“Tyler looked after Tori so well, and I am incredibly grateful! He was so kind throughout the whole time and gave Tori his full attention, which made me feel completely at ease. If I ever need a dog sitter again, I will absolutely choose Tyler without a doubt. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Tori!”

“Maggie was with Terry for a week and I usually worry because she is anxious around new people and being left but what a time she had! She seemed like she didn’t want to come home when I went to pick her up. She had lots of walks and off leash park time and playing in the yard; lots of cuddle time it seems. She even took to Jim, Terry’s husband right away- not one bark. It was an awesome experience for both of us. Thank you Terry for taking such great care of our Maggie ❤️ we’ll be back soon!”

“Lindsey was an excellent care giver to our two puppies overnight! I was feeling a bit nervous to leave them and she was very communicative and sent pictures throughout their stay which made the process a lot easier:) we already booked another sleepover!”

“My dog Odis was well taken care of. When we came back after 2 weeks he was very happy and healthy. He became part of their family and fit in very well. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.”

“Ralphy had a blast with Rune, Montana, and Stephen. He had a sore front paw when he arrived at their home, and they took such good care of him. Ralphy misses Rune and her family🥰”

“My Coonhound, Clementine, had a wonderful time at Joanne’s! She made herself right at home and was treated like one of the family. She went on all sorts of off-leash adventures and was one tired, happy girl when I picked her up. Joanne is terrific - funny, easy-going, and she obviously loves animals. She kept in touch daily and sent lots of pics. (And her St. Bernard, Samson, is a great big sweetheart!)”

“We normally bring our pup everywhere, but at 13, he cant quite make it on all of our family adventures. Our dog received wonderful care with Sharon and the updates and pictures helped ease our stress at leaving our family member behind. A great experience overall and much better than a kennel!”

“Lisa was incredible!!! She is super friendly and communicative, and experienced with many dogs so we felt in good hands leaving our puppy. She was really great with adapting to Indy’s needs and energy levels, I could tell she felt right at home during her stay. Would recommend and will definitely book again ☺️.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Parksville
Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. And she seemed relaxed and content when we picked her up. We will definitely go back to Paula in the future. Matthew and Gillian

Thank you to Alexia and her family for making Sonny's stay such a great experience. We felt at ease from the moment Sonny stepped into your yard and knew she was with a dog family who understood the one-on-one needs of a senior pet. She really looked like one of the family with all the photos, and extended our holiday with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a really special place for dogs and would highly recommend Alexia and her family for creating such a welcoming environment. I jokingly call it "Sonny's country club" as that's what it felt like. Thank you so much!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
