“Thank you so much Doug and Janice for taking care of Chewie. We know Chewie was loved and had a great time with you. We definitely would like for you to have her again in the future.”

“Paula kept in touch with me as requested so I could hear and see how Lucy was. Lucy came back happy and healthy from her stay. Paula provides a safe and quiet environment which I really appreciate. I would highly recommend Paula as a sitter for your dog.”

About: I have experience caring for dogs and cats of various ages and personalities, including puppies and seniors. I help with feeding, walking, playtime, and daily routines while ensuring pets feel safe and loved. I work from home, allowing me to provide consistent supervision, attention, and updates throughout the day. I currently work from home Monday to Friday, which allows me to be present and attentive throughout the day. I can provide regular potty breaks, playtime, feeding, and companionship during working hours. I’m also fully available on weekends and can be flexible to meet your dog’s routine and needs. I make sure dogs are never left alone for long periods and always receive plenty of attention, care, and supervision.
“Adam is wondeful with our energetic lab Buzz, who is always delighted to see Adam and stay with him. In the many times we’ve left Buzz, we’ve never had any problem with communication or any issues to report. Adam is a great, reliable guy who happens to be a great dogsitter as well.”

“Amy was amazing! She sent tons of great photos throughout the stay, and it was clear how happy he was the whole time. When we got home he went straight to bed — he was completely worn out from all the playtime! We couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. Highly recommend!”

“Susan and Robin had our old guy Porter for 2 weeks and they were absolutely fantastic! They were more than happy to take on the added work that comes with an older dog and were careful to understand his needs and limitations. Porter came back happy, healthy and even made a few new play buddies along the way!”

“Shawneen is wonderful. She is our go-to sitter. She always sends updates to ensure us our pups are in good hands and is very flexible with drop off and pick up times. Thank you Shawneen!!”

“My little chihuahua girl Barbara had a great time with Lisa! Barb can be a little anxious but seemed immediately at ease upon drop off. I felt comfortable and confident that Barb was in great hands and was thrilled to receive an update and some photos several hours into her visit. I'm so happy to have found Lisa and will absolutely book with her again in the future.”

“Lindsey is amazing and took incredible care of our boy. He played sooooooooo much! He fell asleep as soon as we walked in the door. 5 out of 5. Would like and subscribe if I could. Amazing.”

“Maggie was with Terry for a week and I usually worry because she is anxious around new people and being left but what a time she had! She seemed like she didn’t want to come home when I went to pick her up. She had lots of walks and off leash park time and playing in the yard; lots of cuddle time it seems. She even took to Jim, Terry’s husband right away- not one bark. It was an awesome experience for both of us. Thank you Terry for taking such great care of our Maggie ❤️ we’ll be back soon!”

“Leanne was amazing with our girl Nita ! From the moment we met , we knew she was the best fit for our girl ! She took great care of her while we were away , lots of walks , photos and cuddles ! It was so comforting to know she was in good hands while we were away ! I would recommend Leanne highly and will most definitely book with her again !!!!! Thanks again , Jen and Nita”

“My dog Odis was well taken care of. When we came back after 2 weeks he was very happy and healthy. He became part of their family and fit in very well. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.”

“Bentley had an excellent stay with Lauren and Andy with plenty of walks and no end of fun. It was easy to tell that he was enjoying himself because he got so tired and was ready to sleep at night without a problem. Lauren also sent us daily reports on what had happened together with photos and some videos and we were most happy to get the regular updates An excellent experience”

“I wasn’t sure that my dogs would want to come home. We received daily updates with photos, showing us all the things that the boys were doing while we were away. I have never felt more at ease about how my dogs were being looked after and if they were OK. Kelly was amazing to deal with! I would highly recommend! I can’t wait to go away again so that my dogs get a nice vacation ☺️”

“Haley and Mark were a treat to deal with. They were positive and responsive to all our questions, and kept us posted daily on how our pups were doing. They have a great yard for dogs, plenty of room to run and play, and it's well fenced. Very secure. Their dog Nova was a hit with our young lab cross. All in all a great experience.”

“Yuet Pao took such great care of our little Kibou. This was our first time leaving our kitten and we couldn't be happier to have found someone so attentive to our girl. We have never used this service before and I highly recommend Yuet Pao to any other fur parent looking for someone to watch their animal. We received regular messages with updates and pictures during her stay and we will make sure to book again next time we are out of town. Thanks again!”

“Such a lovely family! We spent 3 nights away knowing Charlie was in caring hands and have no doubt she received all the ball throws and cuddles her heart desired. Photo updates were appreciated as well :) Thank you Catherine and Doug!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Parksville
Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. And she seemed relaxed and content when we picked her up. We will definitely go back to Paula in the future. Matthew and Gillian

Thank you to Alexia and her family for making Sonny's stay such a great experience. We felt at ease from the moment Sonny stepped into your yard and knew she was with a dog family who understood the one-on-one needs of a senior pet. She really looked like one of the family with all the photos, and extended our holiday with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a really special place for dogs and would highly recommend Alexia and her family for creating such a welcoming environment. I jokingly call it "Sonny's country club" as that's what it felt like. Thank you so much!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
