“Susan was great with my fur baby. I was in and out of service a good portion of the weekend, but every now and then I would get updates on how my Pooch was doing with photos. In addition, she had the service of pickup and drop off, which was extremely helpful for me as I was tied up helping with the wedding. Previously, my only option had been taking Sitka to a boarding kennel. Every time it would be about a week of her coming down from all the stress and anxiety of being around all the barking misbehaved dogs. Typically would come back with some kind of stomach indigestion. The important thing, is that she needs medication twice a day, and with the boarding kennel I really wondered how consistent the medication administration was. I can see why Susan has five star reviews. I wouldn't hesitate to contact her again. Thank you again for taking care of my fur baby. -Ty”

“Willow had an amazing time with Carolyn and her family! She went up the alberni lookout and loved playing in her huge yard. I appreciated all the updates and communication was great. We look forward to seeing them again.”

“Amazing, calming and reassuring experience. First time leaving Dukey overnight and throughout the experience I felt reassured that he was in ideal hands. Grateful! Amazing puppy sitter. Dukey loved it!”

“Kim must be loving and kind because Bodhi did not want to go home. Her yard is fully fenced and her home was dog proofed. I received updates and a picture which always makes me feel more secure leaving my dogs behind.”

“My boy loves going here. I have zero worries when dropping him off with Michael and Lorena. It’s nice to have that reassurance that he’s being taken care of well with a loving family. I would rate more stars if I could.”

“Cat was very detailed and thoughtful on Love Bug’s care. Although Bug had some sleepless nights and anxiety as part of me leaving him, Cat was able to identify the changes and handle them. Her lovely dog Bear was so nice to Bug and when picking him up they all offered their gentle goodbyes by very quiet gentle licks. It was also helpful that he was with a pack which is important for their development. I learned someone new that he likes gym as I never took him to one. Thank you Cat for amazing care and giving him even an extra bath.”

“Douglas and Janice are a kind and caring couple. They took great care of Sam and I do not hesitate in recommending them and I will definitely leave Sam in their tender care in the future.”

“I felt very comfortable leaving my pup with Susan and Robin. I’m so relieved to have found someone to care for my girl when I’m not available. I will definitely be booking again!”

“Paula is terrific. She is a lovely person who has a real connection to dogs. She sat for our dog Truffles for the first time this week. We were a bit worried about how things would go because Truffles is a rehomed dog that can be very timid around people and has issues going inside. However, Paula has a huge fenced yard and indicated that she would stay outside with Truffles if she would not come in. Remarkably Paula got her into her home in just 15 minutes. And she seemed relaxed and content when we picked her up. We will definitely go back to Paula in the future. Matthew and Gillian”

“Natalia and her husband were fantastic hosts and saved us last minute when one of our doggy sit plans fell through. We scrambled at 6 am finding someone to sit for the day, and Natalia responded immediately. Natalia was flexible on pickup and drop off times, and I could tell Cyrus had a great time. They even sent photos of going on a walk with Cyrus! Highly recommend, if you are in the Parksville area and need a reliable and safe sitter, Natalia is a fantastic option! Thank you so much! Jonathan Wong”

“Valeria sent a lot of updates and photos. Benji seemed to have a great time running around the backyard and walking in the sun. Would recommend Valeria to any pet owners looking for a sitter!”
“Crysta is a very responsible and caring individual. She looked after our senior lab during a short trip. It was our first time leaving her in someone else’s care overnight and we could not be happier. Communication was great from start to finish. We highly recommend Crysta’s services.”

About: I have owned and cared for animals my entire life. I have owned my own dogs for the last 17 years. My dogs have always been family members to me and are included in everything I do. I have experience administering medications, supplements and dealing with senior pooches in the past. I have cared for many family, friends and acquaintances pets over the years, including multiple at one time. I currently am at home and available 7 days per week. My husband works full time and is off on weekends. I love to go on daily walks (often multiple) and am always up for weekend adventures at the lake, beach or in the forest with whatever furry friends I have tagging along. I have a fully fenced 1 acre property located in the Alberni Valley, about 15 minutes drive from town. I love walking the many nature trails in our area with my dog. Aside from a daily walk or two, weather dependant, you will typically find us outside on the property, gardening or just relaxing. I understand the importance of meeting the specific needs of certain dog breeds, both physical and mental, as I have a Border Collie who requires a fair amount of stimulation (if ya know, ya know). My home is spacious and well set up for doggies to enjoy both outside and indoors. No couch is off limits for the pups! My girl Millie is very well socialized and loves meeting new doggies of all shapes and sizes. Her many doggie friends will tell you she is very calm and well mannered. I do have free range chickens on our property, but haven’t had any issues with proper introduction and supervision, even with dogs who have never been around them before. I would care for your pup as if it were my own and ensure they had nothing but the best time during their stay! They may not even want to leave!
“Circe was a great host for our two cats and accommodated our booking request on short notice. Our cats clearly enjoyed their stay and Circe provided regular updates. Would happily book again with Circe.”
“Everything went well with my dogs’ first trip to Keah’s. The yard is very well secured and the house is welcoming. I got a picture and update the first night which is always comforting. I would book with Keah again in the future.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Port Alberni
I definitely recommend Kim for pet sitting. She took care of my reactive/fearful dog for a long weekend, and by the end of the first day, Wren had already warmed up to her, which is a big deal! Kim has a very calm presence, and Wren seemed tired and happy when I picked her up. I also appreciate that Kim was flexible with dates and times and was okay with meeting us for a meet-and-greet before booking. Thanks again Kim!

Elaine took excellent care of Loki, and we truly appreciated her availability on short notice. She was very personable and easy to communicate with from the start, which made the whole experience stress-free. She provided regular and detailed updates. We would absolutely trust Elaine again and highly recommend her to others!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
