About: I work from home and go for frequent walks with my dog. Our place backs onto a green space so we are out a lot. I work from home and set aside time each morning, afternoon and evening for walks, and can be available if they need to go out. We have a large fenced yard with space to run and play. I always make sure there is plenty of fresh water available, and of course give lots of love and pets.
“Crysta is such an amazing sitter! She welcome my last-minute request and was super communicative and accommodating. She took such great care of my pup Reggie and was extra thoughtful and responsible with caring for animals through a heatwave. She provides a calm, loving, cozy environment, and enough enrichment that had Reggie super happy and tired at the end of the day. I don’t think he wanted to leave! I wholeheartedly recommend Crysta and am so grateful to have found her. She’s also just a really cool person!”

About: Now certified in DOGSAFE First Aid and CPR training. CPS-DW Certification for Pet Sitter and Dog walking courses. I CAN ALSO PROVIDE DAY CARE IN YOUR HOME FOR $40 (UP TO 8 HOUR STAY). Previously i have been blessed with a Persian cat, a Sheltie, Terrier, Shepherd cross with a whippet (yes beautiful mix), two Golden Retrievers and several other cats. I Also currently volunteer at Alberni SPCA. I lost my 12 year old Golden last year 😥, and cannot emotionally commit to own another dog, so the next best thing for me is to dog sit your fur kids and volunteer my time at the shelter. I devote my volunteer time to snuggling cats and dogs, as well as providing wellness to dogs through walks, positive reinforcement training and cleaning their kennels. I have also taken care of chickens!! I work remotely and have a reliable vehicle so provided you have good wifi for my remote work, my schedule can be tailored to your needs! Tell me what you need and we can work with your schedule. I can come to your home for walks on a schedule or on the fly, drop in to snuggle your dog, cat or other animals including chickens! (Well i may not snuggle your chickens)🐔 My service provides daycare or overnight stays at your residence. This provides a stress free way for you to leave your fur kids, knowing they have the comforts of home.
“Our puppy had the best time with Valeria! When I picked her up she laid at the door and was in no rush to leave haha, and she is so tired which is always a good sign for me of a fun day. She was communicative throughout the day and sent us lots of photos too, which was so nice. We will 100% leave her with Valeria again and already have plans to do so.”

“Keah is a repeat sitter for us and is such a great sitter! She takes time to tell us all about Kira's day and send pictures. Her house and yard are very welcoming places for a doggo. Kira keeps coming home happy and tired from all the playing.”

“Cat was amazing. I felt safe to leave Bug with her lovely dogs. She made his stay comfortable and I am happy with the services. Cat was very flexible with the needs and was very welcoming and friendly. I would use her service again if I want another dog sitting day. And 100% recommend her to anyone.”

“Absolutely blown away with the exceptional care and service. My dog felt instantly comfortable with Leanne and their cute welcoming home, was well loved, exercised and cared for. Wish we lived closer! They are the kind of people you want to be around. Thank you so much!!”

“Our French bulldog, Parker, spent a few hours with Adam yesterday. In that short time, we were happy to be updated twice with texts and pics about Parker’s stay. Parker’s falling asleep just a short distance from Adam’s after we picked him up, was a good indication to us that he had a playful and busy time during his stay. We would not hesitate to have Parker stay with Adam again in the future.”

“Doug and Janice are absolutely wonderful. Rocky really enjoyed his stay and we will definitely be back again. Thank you so much for being such kind, caring people! It gives us great comfort to know that he is in loving hands.”

“We are very happy with Callie's time with Susan and Robin. Callie was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. We definitely appreciate their care of Callie and highly recommend them.”

“While traveling by boat, we were so happy to find a safe and fun place for our Poppi to visit while we were at the amazing Tigh-Na-Mara Spa for a few hours. Alexia had a perfect large yard and several other dogs that loved playing with our Poppi. When we picked her up she was happy and obviously had played all day. It was like having a play date for her.”

About: Kelly grew up in a household who’s mom’s part time job was a dog sitter/ boarder so 10 years of living at home in my adulthood taught me a lot! I’ve taken care of most breeds of dogs and have lots of experience taking care of them, meeting their needs and training if needed. My uncle and grandfather are also both veterinarians so volunteering at their clinic growing up taught me a lot and is nice to have them as an emergency contact for any questions. Ian grew up in a household of dogs his whole life, having breeds including Tibetan terrier, labs and retrievers. In adolescence he started a dog walking part time job with his friends and loves being around animals. Kelly is a casual employee as a nurse so is able to schedule her shifts herself. Ian is an ecologist and is often able to coordinate working from home - so there will always be someone home when we are taking care of your doggo. We view animals as part of the family and that’s how we treat them. We now live in Cumberland and love taking care of your dogs whenever we can. We live on a 0.3acre greatly fenced property and love having extra friends around to take on adventures or play fetch and be cozy at home. Kelly is a registered nurse in a casual position and is able to create her own schedule around sitting dogs/ has lots of free time. Ian works from home so is always around to be with your dog/ take breaks to go on walks! We would treat your home just as we would ours. We are both mature professionals currently living in a pet-friendly apartment in a safe neighbourhood.

- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Port Alberni commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
