About: I work from home and go for frequent walks with my dog. Our place backs onto a green space so we are out a lot. I work from home and set aside time each morning, afternoon and evening for walks, and can be available if they need to go out. We have a large fenced yard with space to run and play. I always make sure there is plenty of fresh water available, and of course give lots of love and pets.

Audrey took great care of my dog during a doggy day care session. She was great at communicating during the booking process and my dog seemed to really enjoy staying with her. I would fully recommend Audrey to anyone looking for services on Rover.

Our puppy had the best time with Valeria! When I picked her up she laid at the door and was in no rush to leave haha, and she is so tired which is always a good sign for me of a fun day. She was communicative throughout the day and sent us lots of photos too, which was so nice. We will 100% leave her with Valeria again and already have plans to do so.

About: I am a very active individual who works from home and has lots of availability to care for your pets! With a background in Zoology, I have a deep love for animals of all kinds! I’ve owned a husky shepherd in the past, I currently have two cats and have been caring for and being around animals since I was a kid. I love walking and running with dogs on local trails and can also do leash walks and park plays. I’ve fostered puppies in the past, and have cared for dogs of all ages and breeds. I have a hybrid work schedule allowing me to often work from home in Port Alberni. I have a fenced in yard and I’m able to provide great and thorough care during the work day and evenings. On the days I work from home, your pups can enjoy outside time as long as they like while supervised. I often take run or walk breaks during the day which I love having dog company for! Flexible hours also allows me to take work breaks to fit your schedule and needs. I have a fenced yard which is great for dogs who visit or come to stay. I do have two cats so I am more keen to board and dog sit pups that are good with cats. I do have the ability to separate a dog from the cats for shorter stays. My partner and friends have dogs and this is a very dog friendly home. I understand the importance of keeping things pets shouldn’t have access to put away, while ensuring they have all the cozy comforts they need. I also have a Google Nest camera in my home allowing me to keep an eye on the pets whenever I’m out of the house. That and thorough security systems ensure your pets are safe with me.

Keah was awesome! My large puppy Bear had his first long full day away from me, and it went great! He came home happy and tired 😊 Keah was super accommodating when our arrival time ended up being substantially later than planned. She is super friendly and was very understanding and it made our late arrival stress-free. Thanks for taking such good care of my two boys 💚

Wow, service way beyond what was expected. Our 1 year old Golden Retriever, Murphy, has high separation anxiety. They had that managed completely. The only problem was as we were about to leave our truck would not start! While hubby diagnosed the problem Andrea toured us through their wildflower meadow, and offered us hospitality. David had a few tools to add to what we had and my husband was able to remove the starter motor. David then drove us to Qualicum to get a new starter and hubby installed it in their driveway. Once the truck was mobile we were able to have a few ours without our pup. Murphy was exhausted in a happy way when we picked him up. Andrea and David generously gave of their time in what could have been a real vacation wrecking situation. Should we want another playdate with the grandchildren up in their area, we will definitely ask them again to look after Murphy.

While traveling by boat, we were so happy to find a safe and fun place for our Poppi to visit while we were at the amazing Tigh-Na-Mara Spa for a few hours. Alexia had a perfect large yard and several other dogs that loved playing with our Poppi. When we picked her up she was happy and obviously had played all day. It was like having a play date for her.

There are 91 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Port Alberni. About 94% of Port Alberni sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalized care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Port Alberni commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
