Dog Daycare in Port Alberni

About: I work from home and go for frequent walks with my dog. Our place backs onto a green space so we are out a lot. I work from home and set aside time each morning, afternoon and evening for walks, and can be available if they need to go out. We have a large fenced yard with space to run and play. I always make sure there is plenty of fresh water available, and of course give lots of love and pets.

About: I am a very active individual who works from home and has lots of availability to care for your pets! With a background in Zoology, I have a deep love for animals of all kinds! I’ve owned a husky shepherd in the past, I currently have two cats and have been caring for and being around animals since I was a kid. I love walking and running with dogs on local trails and can also do leash walks and park plays. I’ve fostered puppies in the past, and have cared for dogs of all ages and breeds. I have a hybrid work schedule allowing me to often work from home in Port Alberni. I have a fenced in yard and I’m able to provide great and thorough care during the work day and evenings. On the days I work from home, your pups can enjoy outside time as long as they like while supervised. I often take run or walk breaks during the day which I love having dog company for! Flexible hours also allows me to take work breaks to fit your schedule and needs. I have a fenced yard which is great for dogs who visit or come to stay. I do have two cats so I am more keen to board and dog sit pups that are good with cats. I do have the ability to separate a dog from the cats for shorter stays. My partner and friends have dogs and this is a very dog friendly home. I understand the importance of keeping things pets shouldn’t have access to put away, while ensuring they have all the cozy comforts they need. I also have a Google Nest camera in my home allowing me to keep an eye on the pets whenever I’m out of the house. That and thorough security systems ensure your pets are safe with me.

About: Retired veterinarian with decades of experience with cats and dogs. I currently have my own dog (Boxer) who is great will all other dogs. Yard is not currently fenced but that project will be completed in 2026. So leash walks are provided. Home backs onto a green space so there are good opportunities for walks. I often plan day trips to provide additional walking experiences. I also have 2 Siamese cats in the home. I work part-time from home 2 days a week, so the rest of the week lets me available to any animals that are staying here. Currently, with the yard not being fenced, leash walks will be provided. Familiar with and capable of providing any required medications if applicable. Can provide more frequent meal breaks (my Boxer has 3 meal breaks to help maintain weight).

“Alexia and her mom Shelley were absolutely amazing! My partner and I were visiting the island and wanted to do a whale watching trip. We knew we didn’t want to leave our dogs in the RV and decided to try to find someone to watch them. We thought it would be a long shot with such short notice and it being on a Sunday but began calling around. After reaching out to quite a few daycares in Nanaimo and Parksville and being told they were full I decided to try using Rover for the first time. I was super nervous but found Alexia and read the reviews and decided to message her. Alexia responded almost immediately and agreed to take both of our dogs for the following day. I asked Alexia a million questions and was worried about the heat wave and she answered everything with no issues and made me feel confident that the dogs would be in good hands. We dropped the dogs off the next day and were greeted by Shelley who was very kind. Shelley showed us where the dogs would be staying and we shared a few details with her as both our dogs had minor ailments at the time. After we left and were on the tour we received many pictures of our dogs from Alexia that were absolutely stunning and she provided us updates on their well being. We enjoyed our tour and weren’t worried at all. When we picked the dogs up you could tell they had a great time and despite the heat they didn’t seem too hot at all. Shelley even let us know that our one dog might have a bladder infection which helped confirm our suspicions we had as well. If we ever return to the island we would definitely reach out to Alexia again if we needed to have our dogs looked after.”

About: Kelly grew up in a household who’s mom’s part time job was a dog sitter/ boarder so 10 years of living at home in my adulthood taught me a lot! I’ve taken care of most breeds of dogs and have lots of experience taking care of them, meeting their needs and training if needed. My uncle and grandfather are also both veterinarians so volunteering at their clinic growing up taught me a lot and is nice to have them as an emergency contact for any questions. Ian grew up in a household of dogs his whole life, having breeds including Tibetan terrier, labs and retrievers. In adolescence he started a dog walking part time job with his friends and loves being around animals. Kelly is a casual employee as a nurse so is able to schedule her shifts herself. Ian is an ecologist and is often able to coordinate working from home - so there will always be someone home when we are taking care of your doggo. We view animals as part of the family and that’s how we treat them. We now live in Cumberland and love taking care of your dogs whenever we can. We live on a 0.3acre greatly fenced property and love having extra friends around to take on adventures or play fetch and be cozy at home. Kelly is a registered nurse in a casual position and is able to create her own schedule around sitting dogs/ has lots of free time. Ian works from home so is always around to be with your dog/ take breaks to go on walks! We would treat your home just as we would ours. We are both mature professionals currently living in a pet-friendly apartment in a safe neighbourhood.

About: I always dogsit our friends' dogs and I LOVE it. I have experience with animals that need special cares and I can manage a couch potatoes or an high energy pooch. I already walk or/and run daily with my dog. I have a big fence yard and work from home. My lifestyle fits well with having animals. I can have your furry baby for a few hours, days or weeks, depending on the fit and needs. I have two friendly animals (cat and dog).

About: I’ve lived with cats my whole life. I’m also used to taking cares of dogs. I currently don’t have any animals, since I often travel during the summer. I thus have my full attention to take care of your pet. I work full time from home. Your pet will only be left alone a few hours here and there during the week. I have plenty of time to cuddle them :) I live in a house without any animals. The backyard is fully fenced. Your pet has access to toys and blankets and can lay on the couch.
