Heather is awesome! She arrived right on time, my dog was happy to leave with her (which isn't always the case with a stranger) and met me back at my place early, at my request, when I messaged her saying I had returned early. She was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to all my messages. I will definitely be utilizing her services again.

About: What truly sets me apart from other sitters is my deeply competent and responsible approach, combined with an intuitive understanding of what each pet needs to feel safe, happy, and loved. I'm not just checking boxes—I'm genuinely helpful, anticipating little things like adjusting routines for anxious pups or providing extra comfort for older dogs. Whether it's playful energy for young pets or gentle, patient care for seniors, I adapt seamlessly to make every stay stress-free and enjoyable. Pets (and their owners!) can count on me for reliable, heartfelt care every time. Cheers. Rees Pet care fits beautifully and naturally into my everyday routine! As an early riser who works part-time from home, I have a flexible schedule that revolves around providing consistent, attentive care for the pets I watch. My days typically start bright and early with a morning walk or play session to get everyone energized—I'm fit and love being active, so long trail walks or playtime in the yard are a highlight for me (and the pups!). Throughout the day, I’m mostly a homebody, so I'm almost always here to keep an eye on things, offer midday potty breaks, meals, cuddles, or quiet downtime as needed. Afternoons often include another walk or outing, especially since I enjoy getting out for fresh air and exercise. Evenings are for winding down with relaxed hangouts, final potty breaks, and making sure everyone feels settled and happy. Because my routine is calm, consistent, and home-centered, pets in my care get near-constant companionship and a stable schedule that helps them feel secure and loved. It's truly a joy how seamlessly they become part of my day! I offer boarding in my peaceful home on a quiet 2-acre property in a low-traffic area—perfect for pets who thrive in a calm, safe, and private environment. There's plenty of secure space to play and relax, and beautiful trails are just around the corner for enriching walks and adventures. Every pet gets my full attention with a customized routine that includes regular exercise, playtime, meals on schedule, and lots of affection to keep them feeling happy and secure. I'm also happy to provide house-sitting at your home, where I keep things super clean, tidy, and low-maintenance while giving your pet the comfort of their familiar surroundings. Whether it's overnight stays or daily visits, I adapt easily to your pet's needs and your household rules. Plus, I offer flexible dog walking anytime, any place—morning energy burns, midday breaks, or evening strolls to fit your schedule perfectly. No matter the service, pets in my care always get competent, responsible, and intuitive attention with plenty of love along the way!

About: Hello, My name is Tara! I am a customer service representative and dancer on the side, and I'm also a huge animal lover! I’ve always grown up surrounded by so many pets which makes me so compassionate towards every fur baby; I have a sense for dogs especially. I had a 13 year old Miniature Schnauzer/Terrier for almost 10 years who has passed on December of 2021. He was my life. Now I vicariously live through the fur babies I get to spend time with and spoil my favourite little frenchie niece! My favourite thing to do is go out and find new and exciting spots to hike on beautiful Vancouver Island. I've pet sat for a lot of family and friends when they’ve gone out of town. I couldn’t imagine my life not being surrounded by furry friends and I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family! I currently work part-time and I’m very active so I have lots of time to take out your dog to various hiking spots all over! I live in a safe neighbourhood and place right off Long Lake. I will make sure your fur baby is safe and feels loved and cared for.

About: I grew up on a farm with multiple house pets & got my first dog at 15. I hike with my dogs every weekend with long walks during the week. I got into pet sitting after I dog sat for friends and family for years. I have experienced with multiple different behavioural and medical needs (pets in diapers, needles for diabetes, heart medications, reactive large breeds, etc) & a wide range of experience caring for different types of animals including cats, dogs, ferrets, sugar gliders, farm animals, etc. Growing up on a farm, I have experience caring for larger animals as well. I treat each animal like my own and can cater to the needs of each individual pet. I work as a homeless outreach worker for CMHA. My husband is a car salesman at Van isle FORD. I like to let my pets out at least every 2 hours, but we also spend lots of time outside. I spend most my time outside of work with my dogs, going on hikes, walks, swims or participating in one of my favourite sports. I have a large 2 story home so there’s lots of room for animals if they are inside. If they aren’t, that’s okay too. I live on 3/4 of an acre and have a fully fenced yard with two separate spaces if there’s multiple pets. I have 2 amazing dogs at home - one who loves to have some company, and although the other one rules the house, she steers clear of other pets. My cat is basically a dog, he’s the best.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Alberni choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
