Over the years, I’ve cared for several rescues from South Korean dog meat farms and high-kill shelters, as well as local rescues here on the island. About: I work from home and go for frequent walks with my dog. Our place backs onto a green space so we are out a lot. I work from home and set aside time each morning, afternoon and evening for walks, and can be available if they need to go out. We have a large fenced yard with space to run and play. “Alexia and her mom Shelley were absolutely amazing! My partner and I were visiting the island and wanted to do a whale watching trip. We knew we didn’t want to leave our dogs in the RV and decided to try to find someone to watch them. We thought it would be a long shot with such short notice and it being on a Sunday but began calling around. After reaching out to quite a few daycares in Nanaimo and Parksville and being told they were full I decided to try using Rover for the first time. I was super nervous but found Alexia and read the reviews and decided to message her. Alexia responded almost immediately and agreed to take both of our dogs for the following day. I asked Alexia a million questions and was worried about the heat wave and she answered everything with no issues and made me feel confident that the dogs would be in good hands. After we left and were on the tour we received many pictures of our dogs from Alexia that were absolutely stunning and she provided us updates on their well being. We enjoyed our tour and weren’t worried at all. When we picked the dogs up you could tell they had a great time and despite the heat they didn’t seem too hot at all. Shelley even let us know that our one dog might have a bladder infection which helped confirm our suspicions we had as well. About: Kelly grew up in a household who’s mom’s part time job was a dog sitter/ boarder so 10 years of living at home in my adulthood taught me a lot! I’ve taken care of most breeds of dogs and have lots of experience taking care of them, meeting their needs and training if needed. About: Retired veterinarian with decades of experience with cats and dogs. I currently have my own dog (Boxer) who is great will all other dogs. Yard is not currently fenced but that project will be completed in 2026. So leash walks are provided. Home backs onto a green space so there are good opportunities for walks. I often plan day trips to provide additional walking experiences. I also have 2 Siamese cats in the home. I work part-time from home 2 days a week, so the rest of the week lets me available to any animals that are staying here. Currently, with the yard not being fenced, leash walks will be provided. Familiar with and capable of providing any required medications if applicable. Can provide more frequent meal breaks (my Boxer has 3 meal breaks to help maintain weight).

About: I grew up on a farm with multiple house pets & got my first dog at 15. I hike with my dogs every weekend with long walks during the week. I got into pet sitting after I dog sat for friends and family for years. I have experienced with multiple different behavioural and medical needs (pets in diapers, needles for diabetes, heart medications, reactive large breeds, etc) & a wide range of experience caring for different types of animals including cats, dogs, ferrets, sugar gliders, farm animals, etc. Growing up on a farm, I have experience caring for larger animals as well. I treat each animal like my own and can cater to the needs of each individual pet. I work as a homeless outreach worker for CMHA. My husband is a car salesman at Van isle FORD. I like to let my pets out at least every 2 hours, but we also spend lots of time outside. I spend most my time outside of work with my dogs, going on hikes, walks, swims or participating in one of my favourite sports. I have a large 2 story home so there’s lots of room for animals if they are inside. If they aren’t, that’s okay too. I live on 3/4 of an acre and have a fully fenced yard with two separate spaces if there’s multiple pets. I have 2 amazing dogs at home - one who loves to have some company, and although the other one rules the house, she steers clear of other pets. My cat is basically a dog, he’s the best.
