“Bailey was absolutely fantastic with my black lab and my moms 2 year old mix! I last minute had to dog sit for my mom and being 8months pregnant, needed a hand giving her young dog the exercise she needs. Axel my lab was able to tag along and they came back from their walks super happy, tired, and relaxed. Bailey was very professional and you could tell loved dogs! Thank you Bailey, we will be using you again in the near future!”

About: I have been around animals from a very young age and have worked in veterinary clinic form the past 6 years. I am a current veterinary student at the University of Calgary and as such have ample experience working with all sorts of animals including animals with additional support needs. I currently work part time in the evenings and as such have plenty of time for animal care throughout the mornings and afternoons! Additionally, I have full availability for pet care on days that I do not work. As I have many years of animal handling experience under my belt, I feel that u have a very strong understanding of animal behaviour and communication. This will help me interact with your pet in a way that is comfortable for them and allows us to build rapport quickly and easily!

I live in Courtenay and I am a mom of 4 beautiful children, I would love the opportunity to take care of your pets, I have well over 20+ years of experience looking after and being around all sorts of animals. I’m a stay at home mom, who enjoys spending time with her family and furbabies, so I have a lots of time to play & take them on walks!! I am currently taking on new clients, cats & dogs of all ages as well as pets with special needs, dietary restrictions, and health conditions. I‘m extremely passionate about animals and always treat other's homes and pets as if they were my own. I‘m responsible, respectful, and reliable and I have excellent references.
About: Hi there! I recently said goodbye to my senior dog, Riley, who was just shy of 13. He was my daily walking buddy, my constant companion, and truly the heart of my home. Losing him has left a big space in my life, and I find myself missing the simple joy of walking with a four-legged friend and sharing that unconditional love and companionship. Because Riley was a senior boy, I have lots of experience supporting older dogs—everything from giving medications to understanding their changing energy levels and mobility needs. I also cared for a cat with long-term health issues for several years, so I’m very comfortable with gentle handling, special routines, and pets who need a little extra attention. Ian has also been around dogs his entire life and helped with Rileys care the last year of his life. His current furry best freind is Sophia the frenchie. He is such a great dog dad to her, making sure her health and wellness is always top priority... and if you know about french bull dogs you would understand this!! ;) We would both love the opportunity to spend time with your dogs, get back to those peaceful walks in nature, and offer the same patience, care, and kindness that we give to our own animals. Whether your pet is young and full of energy or a slow-moving senior with a big heart, We would be honoured to help them feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I am self employed and have a somewhat flexible schedule with various times available to visit your pet or take them for a walk. I am available most mornings, several evenings and weekends. Ian is available most weeknights and weekends. We pay close attention to the little details and will follow any instructions you share so your pet has everything they need to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

For the past two years, I have been commissioned to take care of my friends and family members furry companions with increasing regularity and have decided that this the best possible way for me to continue doing what I enjoy. My availability is if flexible at the moment as I relocated to the Valley two years ago and have switched gears career-wise. My wife and I have a roommate so boarding is not an option. I am adaptable and consider myself extended family while continuing with daily routines and care needs for each individual furry friend. We will have a fun time together, guaranteed. I endeavour to respectfully leave you home the way I found it.
“Brynne responded right away to a short notice request to exercise kali for 3 days, 1 hour walks. She met up with my son the that evening for an introduction. Brynne was flexible with her schedule, professional and most of all Kali responded very well to her. Thank you 😊”

About: I have had a great love of all animals for as long as I’ve lived! I would love to walk/pet sit dogs whenever I can just to get more quality time with dogs in my life! I had worked in the retail sector of the pet care industry for 10+ years. The absolute best part of my job was getting to see the dogs that come in the store with their happy little wiggle-butts! I absolutely adore cats and have three of my own. I would be thrilled to pet sit for your cats as well! I have also spent time volunteering with a local cat rescue, where I learned about different types of care and medication administration I am currently focusing on gaining new clients and furry friends via Rover. I am available weekdays and weekends, from early mornings to late evenings I offer and kind and gentle service to animals of all types. I especially want to make sure they always feel safe and comfortable with me and their surroundings
“Dana is fantastic!! She’s a great communicator who replies promptly to messages. We left our anxious dog Joey with my in-laws when on vacation and hired Dana to help with walks. She went out of her way to travel to their home to meet with them prior to Joey’s first walk. Joey typically is very wary of strangers and we were nervous about not being there at pick up but went willingly with Dana without issue - a true testament to Dana’s ability to understand and work with anxious dogs. We will definitely hire Dana again. Highly recommend.”

“Samantha is fantastic, we were going to be out of town for a few days so we had her walk our dog. Our dog Lou had a great time, I got pictures each day of a smiling happy dog and he was so excited every day for his walk.”

About: I've grown up with pets. It has made me an animal lover! I have a dog named Kora, whom I adopted and helped shape into a wonderful dog! Currently, I have a flexible schedule as I work part-time. For the most part, I am available to help in the afternoons and evenings during the week, and anytime over the weekend. I care for pets with compassion and patience. I understand that each pet has their personality and needs, so understanding those needs is important. I always provide a safe and loving environment for pets I care for.
About: I’ve been caring for animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with cats, and by my teenage years I was the go-to pet sitter for friends, family and friends of friends. Over time, that turned into paid, freelance work caring for both cats and dogs with a wide range of personalities and needs. I have experience with both kittens/puppies and senior pets, including those who need oral medication, and I’m comfortable caring for multiple animals at once while keeping their routines and needs separate and respected. What matters most to me is that your pet feels safe and not disrupted while you’re away. I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Every animal is different, and I follow your routines, your preferences, and your pet’s cues. Some animals want play and energy, others want space and a calm presence. I’m attentive to that and adjust accordingly. I’m calm, gentle, and patient with animals. I respect their space and let them come to me, which tends to work especially well for shy or more sensitive pets. At the same time, I genuinely love connecting with animals, so if your pet is the cuddly type, they’ll get plenty of affection too. Because I work from home, I have a lot of flexibility in my day. I can adjust my schedule to meet your pet’s needs, whether that’s more frequent bathroom breaks, check-ins, or sticking closely to a specific routine. I offer a free meet and greet so we can make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. This also helps me understand your pet’s routine, personality, and any specific needs so I can care for them properly. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I’m able to plan my day around visits, walks, and check-ins rather than trying to squeeze them in around a rigid workday. That means I can show up consistently, adjust timing when needed, and be responsive if something changes, whether that’s an extra visit, a longer walk, or a quick check-in. Since all of my services take place in my client’s home, my focus is on keeping things as familiar and consistent as possible for your pet. I follow your routines closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions you provide. I pay attention to your pet’s behaviour and comfort level, adjusting my approach based on their energy, personality, and needs in the moment. For drop-ins and walks, I make sure your pet gets the right balance of care, whether that’s exercise, enrichment, or simply some calm company. For house sitting, I maintain a steady presence so your pet can stay relaxed in their own space while you’re away. I also take care to keep your home tidy and respected, so you can come back to everything just as you left it.
“Tamara and Luke were great! They took Scout to the beach and she came home happy and exhausted. They are clearly animal lovers and I felt very comfortable leaving Scout in their care. I will definitely rebook with them again.”

About: Puppies to seniors, simple to medically challenged, I have had experience with most. Friends, families and neighbours have entrusted me with their fur babies, and have never been disappointed. References always available. I am retired, and get my daily joy caring for pets, and my favorite part of my day is taking pups walking in the woods. Walking, playing, cuddling, feed and any meds. Animals with special needs are in good hands as I have cared for blind and deaf animals. Puppy traing is fun, and seniors are given plenty of time to meander as much as their comfort allows.
About: I've taken care of Huskies and Malamutes most my life. Experience with German Shepards too. I'm good with all dog breeds in general and enjoy making sure they're happy. Despite huskies being notoriously energetic, noisy, and unruly dogs at times, I've always fostered the chillest, quietest, and easy going huskies. Everyone who meets my dog is ways surprised how well behaved and calm she is. I work different jobs but my schedule is pretty predictable. Teacher on-call, media developer, videographer, tourism/hospitality worker, outdoor enthusiast. Wednesday-Sunday I'm usually free. I usually walk my dog around the block and take her to the exhibition grounds dog park. I have a balcony designated for pet use, as well as a two types of crates to cordon off animals if needed. Access to fresh water, treats, and attention are all easily available.

Courtenay dog parents share their Rover experiences
Jodie was great with the way she greeted Milo. He went straight to her with tail wagging. I was very impressed with her. Once out the door Milo was happy and eager to go , Which is awesome because he has separation anxiety. It’s apparent that Jodi is an experienced dog owner and able to care for dogs of different temperaments I felt very confident letting her take Milo as I’ve never let anyone walk him except for 1 other person who is experienced with dogs. I highly recommend Jodi.
