“I cannot day enough good things about Lindsey. She took amazing care of my little guy. Panda came back exhausted and clearly had a great day. I received bunch of updates and pictures throughout the day . 5 ⭐️”

“Amy was great to book with and made it easy for me as I was visiting from out of town! She was able to accommodate a last minute daycare booking so I could go fishing with my Dad. She was fast and easy to communicate with and made the booking process easy and stress free. I would highly recommend booking with Amy.”

“Karuna was fantastic. She provided updates throughout the day, which made me feel very comfortable leaving my pups in her care. They came home tired and happy, clearly well exercised. I really appreciated the photos she shared and would highly recommend her.”

“Kelly and Natalie were exceptional.... I'm sure most people would have given me the eye roll as I spilled out the details of how Lukas does this and how to do that with Lukas.... like a new mom leaving her baby for the first time... but Kelly and Natalie patiently listened and paid close attention.... I left feeling absolutely confident that Lukas was in good hands!! To top it all off.... he had an AMAZING time and came home happy and tired from playing with his new best friends. He loved going on his big outdoor adventure walk.... and I loved getting the pictures and video. I would highly highly recommend Kelly and Natalie. They are officially our go to when Lukas needs daycare! I can't say enough about how happy I was. Thank you!!”

“We were ultimately satisfied with the care Jenn and Adam provided for my two pups!! My first time using rover and dropping my dogs off so I was very nervous but they made the experience easily 12/10!! My dogs can be anxious and hard to warm up to new people, but they warmed up right away to them! They were so caring, respectful and understanding to our needs! Would send me updates for the dogs, took them on fun adventures and lots of love and snuggles. When we come back and need pet care I hope to be able to bring my furbabies to Jenn!! Thank you both so much for your excellent care”

“We all liked Courtenay right off the bat, especially Phoebe, and we felt very comfortable leaving Phoebe with her. We tried a two-hour sample stay first and that went very well so the full days that we needed puppy day-care were an easy transition. Courtenay made sure Phoebe was comfortable and busy so she didn’t have time to miss us, and her whole family was also involved so our little girl had a great time. We will definitely leave Phoebe with Courtenay again when needed ✨ thanks Courtenay and fam!”

“Alice was great with Bentley, she kept me updated the whole day he was with her and you could truly tell how much she loves animals! Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.”

“Sultaan was really happy when got picked up. Terry taken care of him really well and she was also giving updates on different times for me to make sure that he is doing goo. Overall Terry did a really good job!! I will always refer my fruends for dog home boarding to Terry.”

“Marcy was really friendly and welcoming. She took really good care of my dog Lucy. Lucy was happy when I picked her up and tuckered out when we got home. She has a really good fenced yard- perfect for dogs:) Would definitely recommend her to watch your dog.”

“Dorothy was a life-saver for a last-minute booking. We did a quick meet and greet and then she took Murphy for the following day. Beautiful home with a huge fenced yard. She sent updates throughout the day and some helpful tips as well. Thanks Dorothy!”
“Diana was friendly and flexible, willing to take Earl at short notice. The facility seems nice. She sent a number of photos and two quick videos of him. She took him for a walk, and played with him. Unfortunately, Earl was unable to relax while he was there. That, as well as the distance from our home, means that we won't be using Diana's services again. It just wasn't a good fit for us, but I have no concerns about Diana's capability.”

About: Lost my reactive dog in 2025 and looking to open my house to dogs/cats who excel in home boarding. I work from home and miss having a pet during the day. My kids are young but dog smart due to having grown up near a reactive dog. I have worked in dog/cat kennels, volunteered with the BCSPCA, fostered a mamma dog and her 6 puppies when only 1 week old and have developed my reactive dog skills over the past 15+ years. Love all dogs large and small. I work from home so available throughout the day for the animals needs. My schedule is quite flexible on weekends and weekdays and I can accommodate most requests. I have a 6ft fenced in back yard, areas for animals to have calm time and an open floor plan. My kids are home in the afternoon/evening and weekends but we live in a split house and can accommodate separation if needed.
About: I grew up with dogs and cats in our home and have previously owned a hobby farm with a Livestock Guardian Dog, 50+ chickens, cats, and rabbits. I would love for my children to continue their love for animals without the full-time commitment of owning our own pet. I am at home full time with my children. We have a very flexible schedule. We don't go out for long periods of time due to having young children. However, if we are going to the beach, for a hike, a walk or anything that your pup can come along with, we will bring them. They become part of our family for the time they are with us. We have a fenced back yard at our home which is perfect for breaks and play. We care for each pup as they need and encourage open communication with the owners to ensure everyone is happy.
“Jayden greeted us - especially Ladybug with lovely welcoming energy. She got down low to gently greet Ladybug and allowed her to sniff all around to feel comfortable. Ladybug was happy and calm when my husband picked her up - to me this is a great sign that she was comfortable and happy with Jayden. Thank-you Jayden for your kindness for our wee senior Shih Tzu. So nice to know we have a safe, comfortable place for our sweetie to hang out when we go to places doggos aren't allowed.”

Rebecca was a dream to work with! I observed that my basset hound felt so secure with her right away, and returned back to me so happy and calm. It was a perfect fit. I really appreciated Rebecca's communication and responsiveness. We will definitely be connecting again the next time we are in town - sincerely could not have asked for a better experience!! Thank you!!!!!

Lauren was absolutely wonderful in ensuring that our tea cup yorkie was cared for the entire day. She sent us photo updates and was very clear in the type of care Lily would have. We have nothing but positive things to say and would not hesitate to book again. Thanks Lauren!

Kim is a kind person with a calm energy, and a true dog lover. She adapted her day to meet the needs of my girl, who was relaxed and happy when I picked her up. Kim also happily did a meet & greet beforehand, which I appreciated. We look forward to booking with Kim again in the future!

Coraline and Valentin are very calm and gave Freya the space she needed to get to know them at her own pace. They did a thorough meet & greet and asked lots of questions to make sure they knew her needs. They have a nice deck that Freya enjoyed relaxing on. Thank you!

- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Nanaimo commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 72% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
