“Janine took good care of Darla while I went to go check out the Tulip Festival. Took her on a walk to the beach and ensured she was quite entertained. Janine also frequently sent photo updates and quite responsive when I asked how Darla was doing. ☺️ Highly recommend getting her as a dog sitter.”

“My puppy Dex came back happy and tired. Thank you Honey for playing with him! Lindsay did an amazing job with my very high energy puppy. He got lots of playtime, a walk and even his naps. I would totally recommend her care.”

“Sammy had a wonderful time at Lizzie’s. She is a kind and caring person who really loves dogs. She provided lots of updates and great photos to put us at ease. She played with Sammy and allowed him access to her entire fenced backyard. Sammy can’t wait to be back in Campbell River so he can come for a visit!!”

“Super happy with how everything went with Brittany and our large breed dog. She was very accommodating to our schedule and sent pictures of our pup throughout the day to set our minds at ease. Our dog came back from Brittany’s house and promptly had a long nap - she was very content and seemed well taken care of. 10 out of 10”

“Andrea was fantastic and was really accommodating with our last minute booking. Our shy dog Alba enjoyed having a friend for the afternoon while we explored Powell River. We would definitely use Andrea again!”
“Our puppy had the best time with Valeria! When I picked her up she laid at the door and was in no rush to leave haha, and she is so tired which is always a good sign for me of a fun day. She was communicative throughout the day and sent us lots of photos too, which was so nice. We will 100% leave her with Valeria again and already have plans to do so.”

About: I am a very active individual who works from home and has lots of availability to care for your pets! With a background in Zoology, I have a deep love for animals of all kinds! I’ve owned a husky shepherd in the past, I currently have two cats and have been caring for and being around animals since I was a kid. I love walking and running with dogs on local trails and can also do leash walks and park plays. I’ve fostered puppies in the past, and have cared for dogs of all ages and breeds. I have a hybrid work schedule allowing me to often work from home in Port Alberni. I have a fenced in yard and I’m able to provide great and thorough care during the work day and evenings. On the days I work from home, your pups can enjoy outside time as long as they like while supervised. I often take run or walk breaks during the day which I love having dog company for! Flexible hours also allows me to take work breaks to fit your schedule and needs. I have a fenced yard which is great for dogs who visit or come to stay. I do have two cats so I am more keen to board and dog sit pups that are good with cats. I do have the ability to separate a dog from the cats for shorter stays. My partner and friends have dogs and this is a very dog friendly home. I understand the importance of keeping things pets shouldn’t have access to put away, while ensuring they have all the cozy comforts they need. I also have a Google Nest camera in my home allowing me to keep an eye on the pets whenever I’m out of the house. That and thorough security systems ensure your pets are safe with me.
“Audrey took great care of my dog during a doggy day care session. She was great at communicating during the booking process and my dog seemed to really enjoy staying with her. I would fully recommend Audrey to anyone looking for services on Rover.”
“Yasmine was great! She understood the needs of our sometimes challenging senior dog and gave him just what he needed. He usually is quite fearful of new experiences but bonded with her right away. A true dog woman! We highly recommend her!”

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Cumberland commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
