“Janine was wonderful. She took great care of my little beastie, Squeeks, and was very accommodating about picking up and dropping off keys at a nearby location. She sent pics daily and was clearly someone who knew how to play with cats.”

About: Over the past several years, I have looked after home and petals for family and friends, caring for daily routines and walks to overnight stays. I'm currently completely my masters and working part time. Recently moved back to the Comox Valley. My time currently is pretty flexible. Excited to help. Happy to take your dog for a walk, or looked after your house and pets while you are away. Excited to work with you and your pets.
About: I have had a dog my entire life, most recently my boy Tas who I had for 11 great years. I love animals and will treat them with care and respect. I work a set schedule and look after pets on my days off. I have my own space with no other animals. They will be alone for minimal time in my care. I have a fenced yard, one small dog lives upstairs, who is very friendly. We have a forested area with trails where I will walk your pup.
“Anthony took great care of my cat when I was away, she is very anxious and shy but I felt confident leaving my cat with him, he even took my mail in and sent me updates and a little video to reassure me! I would definitively book Anthony again!!”

“We are so glad to have found Fiona. She came by for a meet and greet with our rabbits and was keen to learn about them and make sure she understands how to care for them. We really appreciate her diligence and attention to detail.”

“Marie was so helpful and great with our cat! Our cat is very shy with new people normally, but she went up to Marie right away and was very comfortable with her. She responded very quickly and was flexible with meet up times, highly recommend :)”

About: Animals are wonderful beings! They have a way of reminding us to slow down, be present and get outside. *Offering pet care in your home, I'm not available to host pets atm. Having been without pets for quite a number of years, I am missing their presence in my life. I grew up with poodles, springer spaniels and terriers. I had two cats of my own (Ruth and Monica) for 17 yrs and loved them dearly. I live in the Comox Valley, so Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Campbell River and nearby communities work well. I love having access to nature (forest hikes and lakes and the ocean.) I'm a devoted, reliable, dedicated animal lover and I take pride in doing any project to the best of my ability. I have a care-giver background, having worked in dental health and as a yoga teacher for many years. I have a solid green-thumb and can tend to some garden care. I love building connections with people & animals. I am 'trauma-informed' and am familiar with 'Force Free' training principles. I'm comfortable with older pets and giving some meds as needed also. I really appreciate dogs with some formal training and can take care of dogs up to 70 pounds. I've recently received a refresher with chicken coop care. Let's touch base with a phone or video call first to get a sense of each other. I'm proud of my 5 star reviews on House-sitters Canada, THS and 99% of clients ask me back to sit again. I'm confident that I can provide top-notch care for your pets and plants and return your home in excellent condition. Looking forward to caring for your precious animal friends. I'm working on some entrepreneurial and writing projects (WFM) so I'm happy to take pups out in the morning and evening for walks, and longer hikes on the weekend too! I love to hike and explore rural and forested areas. Exercise is an essential part of each of my days and I'm happy to continue the exercise routines that you have in place for your pets :). Breaks for 'play' time are great for pets and for humans too! As a detail oriented person with a healthcare background, I understand the importance of providing the highest level of care to your pets. My reviews on Canada House Sitters & THS are consistently 5 star. I believe in the importance of leaving a place better than you found it. I've got fantastic personal & local references also. I'm happy to provide consistent, reliable and loving care with your detailed guidance and instructions. As a former health-care worker, I understand the importance of detailed, compassionate care and supporting your pets needs and regular routines.
“My girl Teaka had a great time with Bailey. You could tell when i picked her up how they interacted together & she gave him kisses before we left. I had a full day of errands around Abbotsford / Chilliwack and coming far out of town it was difficult for me to syncronize everything but Bailey was so accomodating & it made my day much smoother. I would happily leave Teaka with Bailey again.”

“Holly did multiple house visits with our dog. It is great to have someone reliable to come check on our pup and she has also accepted requests on short notice too. She is our go to person. Definitely recommending her.”

About: I got my family dog at the age of 6 and had her for 15 years. I trained her myself. I miss her every day. I can't have a dog in the apartment that I am renting now. I have 2 cats that I love with all my heart. I've tried walking them but they are uninterested in it, we just wander and sit around on leash instead. With the colder and darker months approaching, I'd like to spend more time outside and the best way for me to do that would be with a dog! I work from home from 7am-3pm Monday-Friday. My schedule is pretty flexible. As long as there is wifi, I can work from there. Otherwise I am available on my lunch break or after work. While walking your dog, I will do my due diligence in keeping them tied up, cleaning up after them and making sure we cross roads safely. My phone time would be limited (unless taking photos of them). I will treat your dog how I would want someone to treat my cats (lots of love, patience and care).

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
