“James connected with my dog almost instantly and went above and beyond with her care. James helped us out when someone came to clean our apartment and Misha needed to be protected.”

About: My family adopted a 10 month old rescue pup, Charlie, when I was 7 years old. For the 12 years that I got to spend with him he was my best friend. Although he was stronger than me the first few years of his life, I was still involved in his training and feeding care until I was big enough to take him out and walk him. Once I could handle him, I took him out, walked him, and helped give baths. As an adult, I have done multiple pet-sitting jobs for neighbors and family friends. I have taken care of dogs and cats of all ages. My job experience includes retail, landscaping, and food/bar service. Working late nights in downtown Blacksburg, I have become keen at cleaning up messes of all kinds. This summer, my schedule is wide open! I play pool a couple of nights a week, but that doesn't last for more than a few hours and I can always go late/leave early to get back to the pets. When the school year starts, I will schedule pet sitting around my class schedule. I am equipped to handle dogs of almost any size on a leash, and I love to play fetch in a yard/at the park. I can keep food and water bowls clean and full, I can crate dogs if needed, and I can keep a litter box clean!
About: Hello! My name is Karissa and I am a big animal lover. I've had dogs and cats my whole life, and have always enjoyed spending time with and caring for them. I have trained and competed in agility with my Australian shepherds, and I have worked with and trained dogs of all ages. I have also cared for and loved many cats (both my own and for clients and friends). I am on the Virginia Tech polo team, and we are in charge of all aspects of care for our 13 horses during the school year. I have ridden and cared for over 100 horses since I was young. Through these experiences, I have administered medications, handled behavioral issues, fed a variety of foods, and cared for and diagnosed illnesses and injuries. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, cared for, and loved while their favorite people are away. Your pet should feel like they are on vacation too! I am on break from school right now, and hybrid interning part time here in Blacksburg. I am very available and excited to spend time with your pets! Because I offer care in your home, I strive to ensure that you and your pets feel safe, respected, and cared for. I emphasize safety, privacy, cleanliness, and happy animals. Especially with the temporary change in caregiver, I believe it is extremely important to maintain the routine your pets are used to while you are away, with maybe a couple extra treats (with permission, of course) :) Above all, I adhere to the care rules and instructions given to me, because you know your pets better than anyone.
“Claire did such an amazing job taking care of Blue. She was great to work with, followed my requests to a T, and sent frequent updates! I would totally recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter.”

About: I worked at a small animal hospital for a year and a half over school breaks, so I can administer medications, do CPR, and work with a variety of dogs and cats. I also took many animal courses in college as an Animal Science major which helps me know more about animal behavior, training, and well-being. I fostered cats and have taken care of my own cats and dogs growing up. I also volunteer at an animal shelter in my free time to socialize cats and walk their dogs. I can provide any special instructions/requests you might have. I am a graduate student and am done classes! I have flexible work hours in a research lab and can make sure to be there for your pet! I am very reliable, responsible and will make sure you and your pet’s needs are met! I can feed, play, and cuddle with them along with any other requests you may have. I will do any tasks or instructions you provide me with for how you like things done with your pet in your home. I can take them on walks, play in your yard, practice training tasks, feed them, and provide mental stimulation.
“Erin is amazing! My Labradoodle is very sweet but has anxiety issues and it very weary around new people. Erin was so patient with him and allowed him to warm up to her. She took him for many walks and played with him. She sent lots of pictures and videos. She is super sweet and I felt so good having her care for our boy!”
“Hope was super nice and did a great job at watching my cat over the course of two days! She always checked in on time and took several photos of my cat as well. I would 100% recommend her to anyone!”

About: I have cared for pets of all ages over the years and adopted a pup of my own about two years ago. He’s up to date on all vaccinations and loves other dogs. I have experience with giving medications to animals, caring for both puppies and older pups, and my apartment is hardwood floors so accidents aren’t a problem! I am a graduate assistant and in grad school. This means that I word pretty weird hours and I do a lot of work remotely. I’m home anywhere between 8 hours to 24 hours a day and can rearrange my schedule depending on the needs of the animal. There is a dog park nearby and it’s a safe area. For my pup, and pups I’ve boarded/cared for before, I traditionally feed them in the AM and give them plenty of water. We go to the dog park to start the day and get the energy out. I make sure to leave dog-safe toys on the floor so they know they have stuff to play with and I dog proof the apartment before I leave each time so they don’t get into things they shouldn’t. We go out later in the day to the dog park again to socialize or get the zoomies going. We go back and have a little more food or a snack and then hang out before going out on a walk to end the day. I'm working full-time in ministry so I have lots of time throughout the day to care for your loved one and will be gone no more than a few hours per evening for bible studies and groups. I take my dog, Tonka, out 5-6 times per day minimum and we love to go on walks and be outdoors. I have a large field directly behind my apartment and live in a very pet-friendly area tucked off the main road so your pup will enjoy lots of safe and supervised outside time! I allow animals on the furniture and keep all choking hazards up high. My dog has a knack for finding even the smallest things to mess with so I have good practice with keeping a safe home.
About: I am an Animal and Dairy Science student at Virginia Tech, part of the Honors College, and on the pre-veterinary track. I am also currently completing a master’s program in Animal Behavior and Welfare, which gives me a strong scientific foundation in animal behavior, stress, enrichment, and humane handling. Throughout college I have also worked as an RA for the Honors College and as an ambassador for the School of Animal Science, which has given me strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I have hands-on experience working in multiple, varied veterinary clinics, allowing me to care for animals of different temperaments, ages, and medical needs with confidence and professionalism. I have years of experience caring for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, ducks, and other livestock and companion animals. Throughout college, I volunteered consistently at an animal shelter, where I worked with shy, fearful, high-energy, and senior animals, gaining experience in safe handling, enrichment, and basic training reinforcement. I am especially comfortable with puppies, senior pets, and animals that need patience, routine, or extra reassurance. What sets me apart is my combination of academic training, real-world veterinary and shelter experience, and genuine love for animals. I approach pet care thoughtfully, paying close attention to behavior, body language, and individual needs. I am also actively working toward animal training certifications, allowing me to reinforce good manners, routines, and positive behaviors during care. I treat every animal as an individual and prioritize their safety, comfort, and well-being at all times. I am currently in a few morning courses to finish my undergraduate degree and taking animal behavior and welfare classes online towards my master’s degree. This gives my flexibility during almost every part of the day, every day. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize safety, trust, and consistency above all else. I closely follow each pet’s routine, feeding instructions, and any medical or behavioral needs, while paying careful attention to body language and stress signals. My background in animal science and behavior allows me to handle pets calmly and confidently, maintain a clean and secure environment, and ensure pets feel comfortable and well cared for in their familiar space.
About: I’ve been walking and training dogs since I was 12. I also have my own dog and I’m very involved in his care, exercise and training. I have experience caring for puppies, senior dogs, senior cats, as well as administering oral medication to both animals. I’m very active and love running so if you have a really energetic pup you need tired out I’d love to take them on a run! I also have two guinea pigs and have experience caring for smaller animals as well! I’m home from college for the summer and I have availability most weekdays and weekends. I’m willing to work with your schedule and needs and understand that your pet comes before anything else. It’s important to me to keep everything neat when visiting others homes and make sure it looks better than I found it! I will play fetch or tug of war with dogs usually and play with cats using some sort of feather toy or other provided toys. I always make sure dishes like dog bowls etc are cleaned up and any cans or wrappers are disposed of properly.
About: I am a graduate student located in Blacksburg studying Counselor Education. This past summer I even got to take the Animal Assisted Counseling course and learn all about animal wellbeing in my profession! I have always had dogs and cat in my house growing up, and I have years of informal experience walking, feeding, and taking care of pets overnight. I am always a go to pet sitter for family and friends that are out of town because I always follow their directions as well as treat their home and pet with respect. I also have over a year of hands on volunteer experience at the People For Pets Foundation no kill cat cat shelter in Jeffersonton, VA. I am super flexible all summer! I am a server and work six hours shifts at the maximum. I am happy to serve you and your pets with temporary support or long-term weekly services! I can provide overnight support as well. A pet is like another member of the family, and I have always been taught to treat your family with respect and love them unconditionally. Being with animals is my absolute favorite thing in the world, and you can trust that your pet’s well being will always be my number one priority.
“Arielle did a wonderful job with the drop-in visits to take care of our kitty, a plethora of patio plants, and our koi pond. Timely visits, sent photos, and followed instructions to a T. Thank you so much, Arielle!”

“Rachel is a wonderful cat sitter! My cats were very happy and well taken care of, and even Bella, who is very shy around new people, warmed up to her. Rachel was also very easy to talk to and sent daily updates.”

“I really appreciate Natasha taking care of Icho while I was at work. As my first experience with Rover I was unsure at first if it was dependable, despite all the awesome reviews I’ve seen. Natasha even took pictures for me. She also was nice enough to show me the 20$ off promo for my first booking! I look forward to booking with Natasha again soon ☺️”

We were happy to have Kaylee care for our dog and look forward to having her return in the near future! She followed our instructions to the letter and took Kody on a nice long walk every day. She brings years of pet care experience to the job and had no trouble wrangling our 100-pound fur baby.

Olivia was absolutely amazing with both my pets and myself. I was very nervous to take such a long trip, but Olivia took pictures every visit, made notes about anything she thought I should know, and answered my questions quickly. I cannot recommend Olivia strongly enough!!!

Gracie was great and everything we looked for in a dog watcher. She arrived at the scheduled visit times, made sure our dog went to the bathroom and ate, and played with her to get some of her energy out. We really appreciated the great photos and videos of our dog when we were away and we know she was being taken care of well. I would recommend Gracie to everyone.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
