About: I’ve had and been around pets my whole life and have experience with animals of all sizes. I have house-sat, dog walked, and done routine checking on pets for multiple years for friends and family. I also volunteer at the animal shelter to help animals in need I’m currently working part time and only work a few days a week so I am available almost all the time to check in and help out with animals. My long shifts also contain breaks so I can interact with animals throughout the day even while working. I don’t typically stay overnight for house sitting because of the larger time commitment, but if that is something you are interested in I am able to add a small overnight fee to give your animals the care they need. I know how to handle all kinds of pets in all kinds of sizes and I care for each animal as if it were my own. The safety and health of your animal is my top priority while they are under my care.

About: My family adopted a 10 month old rescue pup, Charlie, when I was 7 years old. For the 12 years that I got to spend with him he was my best friend. Although he was stronger than me the first few years of his life, I was still involved in his training and feeding care until I was big enough to take him out and walk him. Once I could handle him, I took him out, walked him, and helped give baths. As an adult, I have done multiple pet-sitting jobs for neighbors and family friends. I have taken care of dogs and cats of all ages. My job experience includes retail, landscaping, and food/bar service. Working late nights in downtown Blacksburg, I have become keen at cleaning up messes of all kinds. This summer, my schedule is wide open! I play pool a couple of nights a week, but that doesn't last for more than a few hours and I can always go late/leave early to get back to the pets. When the school year starts, I will schedule pet sitting around my class schedule. I am equipped to handle dogs of almost any size on a leash, and I love to play fetch in a yard/at the park. I can keep food and water bowls clean and full, I can crate dogs if needed, and I can keep a litter box clean!

About: I’ve been a dog owner of border collies since I was a child. I love all dogs and cats, the calm and even the high energy ones :) I’ve spent years taking care of my own pets (parakeets, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, cats and dogs) and so I’m familiar with the needed care for even some exotic animals. I love going for evening runs and since my dog Millie passed away, I’ve been missing having some companions with me :) I currently work full time for the summer, but I’m available on Mondays after 1, weekdays after 5, and anytime on the weekends. But my schedule is a little flexible, and if there are any times outside of my schedule that are needed, I’m sure I can make things work. Every animal needs different things and a different way of being approached. Some animals need more high energy play time, fast frisbee throws and runs through the park. Some need the slower walks, cuddles on the couch and to stop and smell the flowers. Whatever speed of play your pet needs, I’m more than happy to accommodate!

About: Hi everyone! I'm Charlotte and I'm a college student majoring in Wildlife Conservation. I've always loved all kinds of animals, and I have two cats at home! I have sitting experience with cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, rabbits, fish, and geckos. I’m a very active person and would love to play with dogs or take them on long walks. I also really enjoy a nice long cuddle session! I have so much love for animals and I love taking care of them. Please reach out if you think I'm a good fit for your pet! I will be able to fit pet care in very well. My other job is babysitting for two kids, and that has very flexible timing and I can always take them with me if needed. I can drive so I will be able to stop by houses easily! I can take dogs into my backyard where they can run around, but they won't be able to go in my house because I have my own pets. Likewise, I cannot bring cats into my own home because my cats do not get along with others. But I am more than willing to visit my client's home and stay overnight if necessary!

I'm a recent college graduate looking to earn some extra income to help pay off my student loans. I've grown up in a multi-pet household and have always been surrounded by animals, so caring for pets has been a part of my everyday life. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and understand the importance of providing them with attentive, loving care. I have experience with both cats and dogs. I volunteered at an animal shelter in my hometown, where I primarily walked dogs and helped care for them. I also grew up with a Labrador Retriever and helped care for her throughout her senior years, including assisting with walking, standing, and eating when she needed extra support. While I love dogs, I'm equally experienced with cats. Over the past 10 years, I've cared for five cats between my family's pets and my own, so I'm comfortable with a wide range of feline personalities and needs. Growing up with dogs taught me how important patience, consistency, and affection are in helping pets feel safe and comfortable. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, and I tailor my care to meet their individual needs. Whether it’s a long walk, playtime, or simply providing companionship, I’ll make sure your pet receives the same love and attention I’d give my own. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy peace of mind while you’re away. As a college student, I have a flexible schedule that makes it easy to fit pet care into my day. I’m fully available on Fridays, and I have availability before and after classes throughout the week, allowing me to provide dependable, attentive care whenever your pet needs it. About: Hello! I'm currently enrolled in school and majoring in Animal science! Specifically in companion animals which are dogs and cats, I've gained a lot of experience over the years in volunteering in animal rescue groups and being a part of a family that fosters animals. During the summers, I go to Bolivia and spend my time there volunteering for this group called SPAT which helps all dogs and cats in the city of Tarija that are abandoned, living on the streets, and being abused to relocate them to safer and better living conditions for them, as well as taking them to the vet to get their vaccines any procedures done and more. I got into this group because my grandma fosters about 10 dogs! I know A LOT! and is one of the main people they go to when a dog or cat needs a home. SO I gained a lot of experience in handling all types of dogs, small ones, medium-sized ones, big ones, and all types of breeds! Also back home I live with 3 dogs and 2 cats so I am just so used to being around animals since I was a kid as well! I'm currently a freshman at Virginia Tech University and don't have a job so I have so much time and energy to spend on your pets! I care for pets in my client's homes by following everything that my clients say and following their rules. If I have a question or need clarification I will always ask my clients before I do something and make sure they're okay with it. I will also send hourly updates including pics and videos of their pets1

About: (Edit: obviously summer vacation is over but I decided I wanted to work with dogs all year long! Can you blame me?!) The only stressful part of going on vacation is finding a dependable person to take care your pets…. well, I’m here to be that person! I’m a local high school science teacher and have the entire summer off, and I’m looking for a fun hobby *and* a part-time job- and this opportunity checks both boxes! I’ve had dogs and cats all my long life!! My wonderful dog Gus recently passed away (but he lived a good 12 year life) so my only current pet is a sweet cat named Shortyhops (one of my sons wanted to name her Shorty, the other wanted to make her Hops, so I had to make a daddy decision!) I like to wake up early and I have plenty of time to walk your dog for as long as you want him or her to be walked! As I’ve mentioned, during the summer I’m wide open to host your dog or visit your house just about 24/7. Just let me know how much time you’d want me to spend with your pet (so you can feel relaxed on your vacation!) and I’ll be there! In addition to my large yard, I live across the street from Heritage Park and the Gateway Trail (that leads up into the Poverty Creek trail system) is adjacent to my house.. meaning I’m surrounded by trails to keep your energetic pal happy! Also, I have my 10 year old Gus, who’s relaxed and friendly, to play along with!

About: Hi I'm Gabriella and I am back home for few months after graduating from PA school! I have worked with pets for most of my life and even have a cockapoo myself! I have worked as a pet-sitter since I was in high school for families with cats and dogs of all sizes. My skills include cleaning, bathing, feeding, walking/running, loving, and simple pet chores. I can handle dogs of all sizes but mainly prefer medium to smaller dogs. I am very active and would love to bring your pet along on a walk / run with me! I am available most days and am happy to take new clients:) I am not currently working so I have all the time to give your animal needs! I am happy to bring him/her along with me on walks or runs outside or to just hang out at home. I make sure that I am respectful of other peoples places and clean up after myself. I abide to all boundaries that owners may have whether that may be restricting locations that their pets can be or wiping the dogs feet before coming inside.

Wonderful dog walker and pet sitter and a true animal lover! She walked my high-energy beagle/hound twice a week for about six months and even took her running, which she loves! She sends pictures every time, which I really appreciate. And she would give my cat some snuggles and attention, too. I called on her last month to pet sit in my home for several days while I was traveling, and she was awesome. I felt great knowing the pets were getting a lot of attention while I was away, and again, the pictures! Sad to see her leave our area-- she is fantastic!

Ruth was absolutely fantastic! I was on light duty for a while and needed someone I could really trust to help exercise my Border Collie, Loki — and she turned out to be the perfect fit. Loki’s a high-energy dog who needs plenty of walks and attention, and Ruth handled him with total confidence and care. Even when I made a few mistakes in communication, she stayed patient, understanding, and professional the entire time. She kept me updated with messages and pictures, and it was clear from the start that she has a genuine passion for animals. Loki instantly loved her, which says a lot because he’s not always quick to warm up to new people. It’s rare to find someone this reliable and caring, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ll definitely be booking with Ruth again in the future. THANK YOU, RUTH!!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
