About: I have been taking care of my pets and the pets of family and friends for as long as I can remember. I also had about two years of experience with dealing with my senior dog, Ella, on multiple medications, supplements, and a special die. I am a graduate student, so my schedule is relatively flexible as long as it fits within my availability. I am more than happy to get up early or stay up late to visit a pet, and most weekends I am free all day. I thoroughly listen to and follow through with the instructions of every client and make sure to respect their wishes while simultaneously ensuring that the dog or cat is taken care of in the healthiest and most reassuring way to the pet owners.
“Kate did a wonderful job with drop in visits for Millie! She gave detailed summaries at the end of each visit. We will definitely look for her next time we need someone from Rover.”

“Sophia checked on my cats while I was traveling. She made sure they had food and water, kept the litter box clean, and provided them with company while I was away. Sophia was very conscientious and caring with my cats, and I recommend booking her!”

“Caroline was terrific! She was very communicative and sent lots of photos, and our normally shy kitty cat absolutely loved her! We’ve already booked Caroline for our next trip!”

“Olivia was absolutely amazing with both my pets and myself. I was very nervous to take such a long trip, but Olivia took pictures every visit, made notes about anything she thought I should know, and answered my questions quickly. I cannot recommend Olivia strongly enough!!!”

About: I’ve had and been around pets my whole life and have experience with animals of all sizes. I have house-sat, dog walked, and done routine checking on pets for multiple years for friends and family. I also volunteer at the animal shelter to help animals in need I’m currently working part time and only work a few days a week so I am available almost all the time to check in and help out with animals. My long shifts also contain breaks so I can interact with animals throughout the day even while working. I don’t typically stay overnight for house sitting because of the larger time commitment, but if that is something you are interested in I am able to add a small overnight fee to give your animals the care they need. I know how to handle all kinds of pets in all kinds of sizes and I care for each animal as if it were my own. The safety and health of your animal is my top priority while they are under my care.

“Kaylee was reliable and on time - very appreciated by our time keeping cats! She played with our cat and quickly earned her trust. She's very easy to work with her - we highly recommend her!”

About: I am an Animal Sciences major and have trained 3+ service dog puppies (8wks-22mos) with an accredited organization, owned dogs my whole life, babysat neighbor's cats since I was 9, and worked with a large variety of animals of all sizes in general. Those that I have previously pet-sit for have asked me back countless times as they trust me to be responsible and loving to their pets. I have 3-4 classes every day with some availability between them, as well as ample availability almost every morning and evening, with very open availability on weekends! I treat all pets with respect and love. I require meeting before I take care of your pet so that I can get a full run through of exactly what you need me to do and can give your pet the best care. I will prioritize comfort with your pet by following their routine to the best of my ability. I am adept at identifying signs of stress or discomfort in any situation, and I never push boundaries or put the animal in situations that would make the animal uncomfortable. I always keep pet's spaces clean and have experience cleaning up a variety of messes when necessary.

About: I grew up having Greater Swiss Mountain dogs so I am very comfortable around big dogs. I have been walking dogs since I was about 10 in my neighborhood as well. Over the past year I have dog sat/ boarded a couple of dogs in my apartment and also in-home. I love animals and since being at college I have really missed having a dog around so I would love to help out however I can! I am currently a junior at Virginia Tech majoring in Communications. I also work part-time at a bookstore in downtown Blacksburg between going to classes. I wake up every morning at 6:30 and go on walk and I walk in the evening around 7 after my classes. I am also available every day around 2pm to dog walk. When I am taking care of dogs I make sure to follow all instructions left by the owner. I will usually walk dogs twice a day depending on their regular activity level.
“Claire did such an amazing job taking care of Blue. She was great to work with, followed my requests to a T, and sent frequent updates! I would totally recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter.”

“James connected with my dog almost instantly and went above and beyond with her care. James helped us out when someone came to clean our apartment and Misha needed to be protected.”

“Hope was super nice and did a great job at watching my cat over the course of two days! She always checked in on time and took several photos of my cat as well. I would 100% recommend her to anyone!”

About: I grew up in rural PA with dogs, cats, and even ducks, and I’ve been my friends’ go-to pet sitter ever since. For the past 3 years on Rover, I’ve worked with pets of all sizes, but found I have a special soft spot for large dogs & bully breeds. I have a flexible schedule which allows me to dedicate consistent, quality time to pet care throughout the week. Daily walks, feeding, litter box maintenance, playtime, and extra attention are all easily incorporated into my routine, so your pet receives reliable care and affection whenever needed. I am available during weekdays and occasionally on weekends. If there is a particular weekend you're looking for care, please message me directly - I may be available even if it does not appear on my calendar. I provide personalized care in your home to keep pets happy and comfortable while you’re away. For walks, I give safe, attentive exercise. During drop-ins, I handle feeding, litter box care, playtime, and companionship. For sitting services, I provide attention, affection, and supervision overnight for so your pets feel safe and loved every day. I aim to keep your pet's schedule as similar as possible to what they normally experience when you are home! Please feel free to be as specific as you want regarding needs of your pet, habits, preferences, etc.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Blacksburg
Alyssa checked on my cats while I was traveling. She gave them company, made sure they had plenty of food and water, and kept the litter box clean. Alyssa made sure to keep me up-to-date on both cats (even the one that's a little more shy). I recommend booking Alyssa!

Katie is fantastic! She is an excellent communicator, reliable, provides detailed updates, and spends quality time bonding with and caring for your pets (even if they're not-so-friendly around "strangers.") We've worked with Katie several times now and she's been awesome every time - complete peace of mind when traveling.

I highly recommend Victoria as a pet care provider! My two kitties immediately became at ease under her care. She sent many pictures of them being tenderly cared for, which put my mind at ease. She was very observant of their behavior and condition. I plan to request Victoria for all my future pet care, hopefully she will be available!!
Leah offered exceptional care for my kitty throughout my stressful trip that was scheduled last-minute. I had quite particular requests like daily supplements and health monitoring, which Leah handled and frequently communicated with me in detail. This never was an expectation, but she even spent more than the 30-minute visit duration to make sure that my kitty’s needs were met. When I came back home, my kitty was less stressed than she usually gets after my trips. As I am very new to pet sitting services, I saw six reviews on her sitter profile and assumed she was a relatively new sitter. Later during the meet and greet, I found out that she actually was a very experienced sitter who has her own established network of local clients in and outside of Rover. I felt very heard and comfortable throughout the meet and greet, and could tell how much she genuinely cares for animals and prioritizes our pets’ well-being no matter how difficult or time-consuming some tasks could be. If you choose to book with her, you will feel the same assurance and relief that I felt when first I met up with her.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
