About: I’ve spent the past 3 years volunteering with shelter dogs that were reactive, nervous, high energy, sensitive, untrained, and everything in between. My sister and I would take shelter dogs out for the day and bring them to the beach, on long walks, car rides, basically just let them have a full day outside of the shelter. That experience taught me a completely different level of dog care than I was used to from simply caring for my grandmother’s dog, Lulu. I learned how to recognize when a dog is uncomfortable, when to give them space, and how to work with their individual boundaries instead. Shelter dogs taught me that no two dogs are the same, and caring for them isn’t something to take lightly. I’ve also volunteered at the Staten Island Zoo for 2 years and have had animals around me my entire life. My pets back home in New York include my 8 year old cat Nemo, a blue tongued skink, bearded dragon, gecko, gerbils, tortoise, pixie frog, and more. My sister and I grew up going to animal expos, so I’ve had experience being around and caring for many different kinds of animals. Because of that, I’m very comfortable around animals, but I also know that being comfortable doesn’t mean ignoring their boundaries. I want to know their routine, personality, triggers, habits, favorite things, and anything else that helps them feel safe and comfortable. The more I know about your pet, the better I can care for them! I’m a Virginia Tech student with a pretty open class schedule. Classes usually take up only about two hours of my day, so I have plenty of time to spend with your pet. I’m happy to take dogs on long walks and give them lots of time outside if that’s what they enjoy. When we’re home, they’ll have my attention too, whether they want to play, relax together, or just have someone nearby. I live at The Hub, which is a pet friendly community with its own dog park and plenty of outdoor spaces for walks and potty breaks. I’d only use the dog park if it’s empty. I’m also happy to skip it completely if that’s what you prefer! I’d follow whatever routine your dog is already used to and keep things as normal and comfortable for them as possible while they’re with me!

About: Grown up with dogs my entire life! Had 5 dogs at one time at one point. Owned and comfortable with breeds such as Rottweiler, Golden Retriever, Dachshund, Husky, and more! Free most days as I have breaks in the middle of the day between classes almost every day! Also comfortable pet/house-sitting if we discuss and agree on details/expectations prior! I’ve always treated all pets, most of all dogs a part of the family, both my own and my friends and families pets. I’d treat your dog like I was watching your child because I know that that’s exactly how he or she feels to you!

I have lifelong experience caring for animals - I grew up with five cats, two Guinea pigs, and four birds! Petsitting for my neighbor’s dogs was my very first job as a kid and I have been doing it for friends, family, and coworkers ever since. I have experience caring for elderly and disabled animals, those with particular feeding schedules or allergies, and am comfortable administering medications for your pets as needed. I have cared for everything from dogs and cats to ferrets, rabbits, and even chickens. About: I currently work as a veterinary assistant at Veterinary Surgical Center, so I have plenty of experience handling pets and reading body language. I have had pets of my own since I was 5 years old, and became very passionate about animals around age 12. Since then I have owned and worked with dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas, and more. I am a junior at Virginia Tech on the pre-vet track, hoping to turn my passion for animals into a career. My work in the veterinary field has taught me a lot about animal body language and behavior. I am very observant and will be sure to monitor your pet for any changes in behavior. I have learned to pick up on cues from many different animal personalities, and how to act accordingly, ensuring that your pet is always comfortable. I love walking and being outdoors. Your pets are always my #1 priority, so I will go at any pace, depending on the dog’s needs. I am also sure to let them sniff around and create a positive experience on every walk. I have experience with reactive dogs on a leash, and am sure to be aware of my surroundings.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 9 years old, starting with my neighbor’s two senior pups who needed daily medication. Since then, I’ve looked after dogs of all ages, from high-energy puppies to sweet seniors, and I’ve always loved getting to know their unique personalities. I’ve had three dogs of my own. My first was a gentle Bernese Mountain Dog named Hope, and when i’m home from college, I live with my two Mini Australian Shepherds, Maggie and Tobi. They’re almost 9 years old and full of energy and affection. I also regularly care for my sister’s 2-year-old Berner named Keatts, and I help my boyfriend’s family with their four dogs—a Pomeranian and three Dachshunds ranging in age from 1 to 12—whenever they go out of town. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. One of my Aussies has fear-based aggression, so I’ve learned how to stay calm, patient, and supportive when working with anxious or reactive dogs. Whether it’s giving medication, keeping a routine, helping a nervous dog feel safe, or just getting their zoomies out with playtime, I always care for every dog like they’re my own. I’m reliable, attentive, and truly love what I do. As a full-time student at Virginia Tech, I have a structured class schedule but also plenty of breaks throughout the day. Those gaps give me the flexibility to care for pets and check in on them regularly—typically every 2–6 hours depending on the day. I make sure to stay available and responsive, and I’m open to adjusting my routine as needed to best fit each animal’s needs. Pet care is something I genuinely enjoy and make time for every day, so if you need someone who’s dependable and easy to reach, I’ll likely be available when you need me. Whether it’s daily drop-ins, long walks, or extended stays, I’m happy to work around your schedule and your pet’s needs. I currently only offer overnight pet care in my apartment. When pets stay with me, I make sure they have a safe, comfortable environment and maintain their normal routines as closely as possible. This includes regular feeding, walks or playtime, and plenty of attention throughout the day and evening. Since I’m home overnight, pets are never left alone for long stretches, and I keep communication open with owners to provide updates and adjust care if needed. I treat every pet like my own, giving them plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. Whether your dog needs regular walks or your cat prefers quiet companionship, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for in their new environment.

About: I have had a dog for 8 years and have taken care of him. In addition, I have interacted with many different kinds of dogs and volunteer at the Roanoke and Montgomery County shelters. I currently attend college, but whenever I am home I take care of my dog. I take care of him daily, and I pay attention to his needs I walk my dog, feed him, give him water, play with him, brush him, clean and moisturize his paws, and make sure he is up to date on medications
