“Our pets love Claire! She was so patient with our crazy dogs, and our cat actually snuggled with her - a privilege not experienced by many Petsitters! Claire was very communicative and we would definitely recommend her!”

About: Hi there! My name is Lacy, I've taken care of all different shapes and sizes of pets since I was very young. I worked at a doggy day care for a year, as well as a dog walking company in Los Angeles where I took 5-6 dogs at a time for walks/hikes. I have some experience with simple obedience training, such as proper leash manners and basic commands like sit, stay, wait & come. I will be happy to take your dogs on walks or hikes, I'm also happy to take care of cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, reptiles, etc. Let me know if I can help! Thanks! I currently work part time and I’m in my third semester of nursing school, currently taking online classes. My schedule varies from month to month but I will gladly help care for your fur babies whenever I can! My current living situation isn’t set up for me to keep pets at my home but I would love to take care of them in their own environment where they already feel comfortable and are familiar with the area!

“We are so amazed by the care that Rita provided our boys when we were away. We knew from our initial meeting that she offers her services because she loves pets so much. We will definitely only hire her for our future needs and we recommend her without reservation!”

“Catherine took care of my cats while I was traveling for work. She gave them food and water, kept the litter box clean, and kept them company while I was away. She is prompt, thorough, and a great sitter!”

About: My experience comes from caring for my own dog and my sister’s dog. I’m comfortable with frequent walks and potty breaks, including for dogs still working on house training. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, helping with bathing and basic grooming, administering routine medication, and measuring meals to follow specific dietary needs. I carefully follow owners’ instructions and am patient and happy to adapt to each dog’s routine, whether they enjoy outdoor time or prefer a slower pace. I’m a student with classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Most of my other commitments are remote, apart from occasional meetings, giving me flexibility around my classes. For boarding and overnight stays, I’m available Monday after 7:30 PM through Tuesday, as well as Saturdays and Sundays. For walks, drop-in visits, and longer care sessions, I’m available Tuesdays, Thursdays, Friday after 4:30 PN, and weekends. During longer stays, I can keep your pet company while completing schoolwork between care tasks. We’ll confirm your pet’s needs and my availability before booking. I’ll take time to learn your pet’s routine, behavior, and care needs before booking. I’ll follow your instructions for feeding, walks, potty breaks, and any household rules. I’ll keep dogs leashed on walks, check that doors and gates are secure, and send updates and photos. We’ll also discuss how long your pet can comfortably be alone to make sure my schedule is a good fit. For boarding, I live in an apartment with my own room and bathroom, and big living room. I also have a pool and nice area to have walks! I will spend a lot of time giving walks and staying outside if needed!
About: I care for my four cats at home and have taken care of dogs for my neighbors and friends. I like giving individual care to every pet I care for and ensuring your daily routines are kept with your pet. I interact, play, and take care of my pets nearly all day. Daily feedings, cleaning, and keeping of general well-being are part of my daily routine. I try to stay consistent with your routine for your pet to create a familiar environment for your furry friend. Whether drop-in care, overnight stays, or walks, I put effort into maintaining the environment that is right for your pet.

About: Grown up with dogs my entire life! Had 5 dogs at one time at one point. Owned and comfortable with breeds such as Rottweiler, Golden Retriever, Dachshund, Husky, and more! Free most days as I have breaks in the middle of the day between classes almost every day! Also comfortable pet/house-sitting if we discuss and agree on details/expectations prior! I’ve always treated all pets, most of all dogs a part of the family, both my own and my friends and families pets. I’d treat your dog like I was watching your child because I know that that’s exactly how he or she feels to you!
“Sydney was very understanding of Gracie's needs as Gracie is an an elder dog. She interacted with Gracie, sent pictures and text updates during her drop in visits. She communicated both before, during and after her visits. Definitely would recommend Sdney to help care for your pet!”

About: I grew up with an Australian Shepherd, she was my best friend! Since then, I have been able to love two Mountain Feist dogs and then now have the following: a yellow lab (senior), beagle mix, shepherd mix, and a feist/bulldog mix (puppy). It’s a house full of love and dog hair! I have also helped care for family and friends' dogs when needed. There is nothing like the unconditional love you get from your four legged family member. I work as an independent contractor so my work hours vary. Typically I have some availability for drop in visits or walks Monday through Friday between 8:00am - 1:30pm. Our dogs are family. When I met my now husband, he had three dogs and I had one. Now that we are all under one roof, four legged family members actually outnumber the humans 4:3. We love some snuggles in this house (as evidenced in the photos) and our youngest pup keeps the others busy with her playfulness.

Pet care fits easily into my daily routine, and I have plenty of flexibility to give your cat the time and attention they need. I’m able to accommodate feeding schedules, playtime, litter box care, and any other parts of their normal routine. I enjoy spending time with cats, so making sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and loved is something I’m always happy to make time for I always make sure each pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owner is away. About: I have nearly 2 years of experience as a kennel assistant at a Hayfield Animal Hospital caring for dogs, cats, and exotics of all sizes and personalities. I also was a part of the Edison Academy veterinary science class where we provided grooming services to clients. I’ve taken care of my own dog for 8 years and have pet sat for family and friends. I’m reliable, patient, and focused on making every pet feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I also helped train my dog as a puppy and have experience administering medications to pets at my work and will be getting experience as a veterinary assistant this summer. I currently work part-time as a kennel assistant, so caring for animals is already a big part of my daily life! I’m available most weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to make time to stop by and care for your pet. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping your pet company, I’ll make sure they feel safe and cared for while you’re away. I care for every pet as if they were my own by making sure they feel comfortable and loved while their owner is away. As a pre-vet student at Virginia Tech, my passion for animals runs deep. Just as I do with my own dog, in a client’s home, I follow their pet’s normal routine for feeding, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of attention and companionship. I also make sure pets have a clean, stress-free environment and would love to keep owners updated with messages and photos!
About: I am currently a student at Virginia Tech. I have been pet sitting and taking care of dogs for ten years and have loved each and every animal I have cared for as if they were my own. I have owned dogs and cats my whole life and have trained them myself as I got older. I have experience with puppies under the age of one and will play with them until they can’t play anymore. When I care for your pets, I promise to give them as much love and affection as they get when you are there (possibly even more). Your animals are my top priority when I am caring for them, and I will love them as much as you do until you can get back to them. I am able to care for your pets any time. I will be starting school in the fall, but that will not impact the way I love and care for your pets due to the way my class schedule is structured. I have a very friendly lab that loves to play with other dogs. I ensure that when I am in someone else’s home, I am supervising the dogs while I also make sure they are getting the exercise and enrichment required for their breed and temperament. Every dog needs different treatment, and I will adjust the way I care for them based on their own needs.

About: Hello! My name is Hayley and I am an animal lover of all kinds. I had a chihuahua for 14.5 years until I had to say goodbye to him in august of 2024. Since then I have found joy in helping others take care of their furry family members. My Pedro was special needs so I am comfortable giving meds or helping with disabled animals as well. I promise to take care of your babies just like they are my own! Same day bookings and short notice bookings will be dependent on my full time work schedule as I work 3 twelve hour night shifts a week but please always reach out as I may be available! I am also willing to pet sitting for other animals like chickens, hedgehogs, etc. Just ask!! I am a full time night shift nurse so my schedule is crazy but allows me to spend the days with your pet. I am also able to get several days in a row off and spend 24/7 with your pet, if scheduled within enough time! If selected, I would treat your baby as if they are my own and would go above abd beyond in caring for them. I am unable to bring pets to my home but am more than happy to care for them in the comfort of their own homes.
About: I've been around dogs, cats and horses my entire life. I currently have a Blue Heeler, Easton, who is a ball full of energy so I know how important consistent care is for any animal. I am a veterinary assistant at a mixed animal clinic so I am very familiar and comfortable with caring for animals of all sizes! I know how important consistent care is for your pets and I treat every animal I care for like they’re my own. I can provide long-term care if you’ll be gone for a longer period of time or I can be more flexible and provide drop-ins, feedings, walks and much more- it's entirely based on what you need! If your pet should come to my house, I have a wonderful fenced in yard that is great for chase and playing fetch. My dog has been socialized since he was a pup and loves having another playmate! His favorite game is chase and fetch and he's always willing to share his toys with new friends. Easton comes with me to work so he has met dogs of all sizes and he always greets them with lots of kisses!
About: I’ve had dogs and cats around me for most of my life, from growing-up on a farm in Maryland to working large animal husbandry at the Virginia Tech Veterinary School to sharing a 1-bedroom studio with two cats in Roanoke City, and I’ve always loved all animals. All! Right now, I have one dog and three cats of my own, and they are very much part of my family. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats with different personalities and needs. I enjoy walks, playtime, and just hanging out with them and giving them attention. I know how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets when you’re away, and I’ll care for yours just like I care for my own. I’m currently in the process of my Pet-CPR/First Aid certification. I’m working a flexible schedule (as a Referee). When I’m at work, Nalini (my wife), will be there at home with your pet. So, your pet would never be there alone day or night. The most respect, care, compassion, and hugs!! There’s separate pet living spaces in my house for accommodating your pets needs, and we have a friendly and vaccinated dog.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
