For the last six years, I helped take care of a previous partner's dog, including watching him alone for weeks or even a month at a time. He was adopted and mildly reactive, so I learned to be attentive to body language, manage space around triggers, keep walks calm and positive, and make sure they felt safe while still getting plenty of stimulation. I’ve also cared for my sister’s dogs, including a rambunctious, high-energy German shepherd puppy and a mature Australian shepherd, so I’m comfortable with smart, active dogs who need more than a quick walk around the block. I especially love connecting with intelligent dogs who thrive on enrichment, structure, and engagement, whether that means sniffy walks, varied routes, leash games, practicing cues, or just giving them the time and attention they need to feel fulfilled. I recently moved to Brooklyn, and spending time with dogs feels like the best possible way to explore the neighborhood. I enjoy letting dogs sniff, investigate, and set a natural rhythm instead of rushing them through a walk. I work from home three days a week, which also gives me a lot of flexibility for housesitting and daytime care.
