“Lauren and her family took such good care of our dog Sawyer! This was our first time being away from our puppy so we were worried she was going to be scared, but she had so much fun playing with their dog Zoe while we were away. Lauren sent us pictures everyday to let us know how she was doing. By the time we got back, Sawyer was already attached to Lauren, Zoe, and the rest of the family.”

“Naomi was great!! She was very prepared and ready to learn about and to care for our dogs just the way they needed. Our dogs had the best time taking long walks, lounging, and looking out the big window. She took the time to introduce our dogs and Milo and they became great friends. The house was quiet, very clean, and perfect for our dogs. We loved seeing the daily photos while we were traveling. Definitely would recommend!”

“We had a wonderful experience! Bingo is a shy and cautious dog, but she made him feel comfortable and took such great care of him. She kept us updated throughout his stay, sent us his photos and videos, and was always easy to communicate with, which we really appreciated. It was clear that Bingo was happy and well cared for. Highly recommend!!”

“Claire did amazing with our 8 mo puppy. Claire is very calm, experienced, and caring. Besides taking good care of our pup, Sage also came home with a new skill I hadn’t been able to teach. Claire had a great assessment of Sage, and was able to meet her on her level. We already have future dates swith Claire cheduled.”

“Megan did an amazing job making Poppy feel right at home, so much so that Poppy almost didn’t want to leave! She was quick to respond and sent pictures throughout the stay, including pics of our dog playing and snuggling with hers (they became fast friends). We would highly recommend Megan to anyone looking for a sitter who will make their dog feel like part of the family!”

“Cary was great with my dog! Very friendly, calm and accommodating! I was nervous about finding someone to watch my dog for me, she has strong opinions about people and doesn't like everyone, but she warmed right up to Cary, we had no issues at all!”

“Brian was a great sitter! He provided daily pictures and updates, putting our minds at ease that our fur babies were safe & happy. He also welcomed us to his home before booking so we knew where the dogs would be staying. His fully fenced yard provides a great opportunity for the dogs to get some energy out and have quick potty breaks. We will definitely use Brian again in the future!”

“We don’t trust our dog Troy with anyone else! Darla and Greg are truly the best and we feel Troy is in such good hands every time he is with them! Highly recommend”

“Tammy took great care of our 2 small dogs and sent regular updates and pictures throughout the long weekend. I would absolutely recommend having Tammy care for your pup!”

“Hannah was AMAZING! It was our first time using Hannah and she was very professional and very accommodating. She sent pics of our Beau everyday! I would definitely recommend her and will be using her again!”

“Lara was great for our dog. She sent routine updates and made him feel at home. She’s available and spent quality time with our guy while we were gone. Would recommend and book again”

“Shannon took great care of my dog Avery! She was very responsive throughout my trip and Avery came home very happy and healthy. I would definitely leave her with Shannon next time I travel!”

“Paul was fantastic with our sheepadoodle, Shibobo! Shibobo can be handful given his large size and energy, but Paul was quick to get to know him and learn how to manage his quirks. Paul was a great communicator and sent us regular updates. Overall, we are so pleased to have found Paul and highly recommend him! We look forward to having him watch Shibobo again soon.”

“Gabrielle was very communicative upfront and super wonderful to deal with. Throughout our dog’s stay she sent photos and was easy to get in touch with. I would definitely recommend her!”

“This was Saga‘s second visit with Tom and Kelly. Once again, the experience was wonderful. They provided daily updates and lots of pictures. I recommend them highly and plan to use them again when I travel.”

“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”

“Coni was great as always! Super flexible and communicated regularly during the stay with pictures and videos. 😊 I feel like our dog had a great, comfortable stay.”

“Cheryl was great with our dog. She was very accommodating with our requests for her to drop him off at doggie daycare to pick him up. It was much appreciated. I highly recommend Cheryl.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Winnetka
We had our little Dachshund boarded with Kazuhiro & Akemi and found them to be extremely responsive, responsible and easy to work with. With lots of photos daily showing walks, playing and rest time, we felt reassured that our little sausage was being well looked after. I feel very comfortable recommending them!

Ella and Sidney took great care of my dog Sugar! They kept me up to date with photos and text messages for the 3 nights they had her. It’s always a little nerve racking leaving your baby in someone else care that you don’t know and someone your pup doesn’t know either, but it was all good. Thanks again Ella & Sidney !!

Katelyn was so warm and responsive throughout the entire boarding process. She has a clear affinity and appreciation for cats, which is so important to us in a sitter. We felt completely confident that our cats were in good, loving hands, and were thrilled to see the daily updates and photos she shared from their stay. 100% would recommend.
We used to leave our dog at a large dog boarding place when traveling, and she would be grouped with so many different dogs that I can tell she was traumatized and often took days to be back to her normal carefree self (and she would have dog drooling all over her). This time under Nancyanne’s care our dog was able to stick to a routine similar to at home, and I can tell she was quite comfortable and after 9 days it was seamless that her demeanor was like she never left home. We would happily recommend Nancyanne to anyone who needs help.

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
