“Darla and Greg were amazing to work with and super considerate to my dog’s needs. You can tell they love what they do and want your fur baby to feel at home. I will definitely be using them again.”

“Sailor had a great time with his stay-cation with Tanya! Tanya is clearly comfortable with dogs of all types, including big boys like ours. Her home and yard is doggie heaven - I think I even caught Sailor wistfully looking behind him as we drove off after pick up! I appreciated the frequent communication since our guy does have some quirks. We will definitely look to Tanya for future care.”

“Charlie loves Joe and Camille's yard, their house, the treats he gets, and them. He is 17 with some senior health issues, and I never when he's with them.”

“Robert took very good care of our dog, Sammy. He was great with communication setting up the stay and letting us know how Sammy was doing while we were gone. We are very grateful!”

“Loren was great with my pup. She was kind, sent me updates daily and had the supplies at her house to make him feel at home. He came home happy and calm. Will use Loren again anytime.”

“Another great stay for Roisin with Tammy. She is exhausted but in good form and Tammy updated me with pictures from the weekend. Roisin was nervous at first but warmed up once she knew she recognized the house. Thanks so much for taking good care of my baby!”

“Sophie was absolutely wonderful with my dog, Charlie. Charlie took to her right away. She knew a true dog lover! I had daily updates and photos of activities. I highly recommend Sophie to look after your pet. Sophie’s treats your pet like her own and does so with love.”

“My dog had an excellent stay with Hayley, as always. He even got to spend time with another dog and got some really good socializing experience, all under Hayley’s careful and considerate care. Thank you 🤍”

“Jamison was fantastic! He took great care of our pup, gave us regular updates and pictures, and had a kind and caring personality. We’ll definitely be asking for him next time we have to leave town.”

“**Review for Eileen** I want to take a moment to thank Eileen for her patience and dedication while caring for Dean. I know it was a challenging experience for her, as Dean got overly excited with new dogs and tried to assert dominance. Eileen was very communicative throughout, and I appreciated her willingness to push through those tough moments. The pictures were the best! When we picked Dean up, she was waiting outside with his things and looked understandably overwhelmed. I reassured her that we had never had any complaints about Dean, and we truly appreciate her effort in caring for him. Thank you, Eileen, for your love for dogs and for sticking with Dean despite the challenges. We value your commitment and hope to work with you again in the future! From Dean and Radillo family, thank you!”

“We met up before to make sure the dogs would get along, and everything was great! I loved getting daily updates and pictures. I would definitely go with D’artagnan again for dog sitting.”

“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”

“First time booking through rover and Mary made it so calming and easy!! Grateful for the photos and manner she works with the dogs and people she cares for. Would book again.”

“Beau had such a wonderful stay. It was great getting updates and pictures on a regular basis. Beau enjoyed playing with his new fur buddies. They definitely made sure Beau was well taken care of. We look forward to another stay in the future.”

“Chero was amazing she listened as I told her all of Ahuva's needs (not that many 😁) and provided excellent care while I was away. I'm happy Ahuva's so worn out from playing and is such a pleasure to be around not that her zoomies are hopefully out for a week at least 🤞”
“Jean was amazing with my golden. I loved getting pictures and videos daily and knowing that he was having a great time. My big guy has terrible anxiety during storms and is on a high dose of anxiety medication that sometimes works. When a bad storm rolled in Jean was compassionate and loving and notified me about his condition. As a very overprotective dog mom I trust Jean and we will definitely be using her again.”
“We appreciate the daily updates/photos. Knowing that the boys were comfortable and enjoying their stay with Tammy made us at ease. She's super accommodating and patient.”

“This was Daisy’s first stay with Joe but it won’t be her last! Joe clearly loves dogs and that gave us peace of mind on our vacation. We loved the photos and videos he shared with us. It was great to see Daisy enjoying herself with him. I have no hesitation in recommending Joe.”

Colleen was fantastic - took wonderful care of our 2 dogs and was great with communication and flexibility. We received regular updates with cute photos, and Colleen’s house is so well-equipped and dog-friendly with toys, beds, bowls, etc that we barely had to pack anything but food and leashes. Our dogs loved playing with her pups Teddy and Polly and came home smiling. They would love to come back!

Svetlana and her family took great care of my dog with medical needs. She followed my instructions by ensuring that medication/needs were given at specific times. She gave my dog plenty of attention throughout his stay and reassured me with important updates. This is the second time we've used Svetlana, and my dog ran right up to the house at drop-off--a sign of a trusted sitter! Highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Meghan! Freddy was happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of attention while we were away. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, and we really appreciated the updates and photos. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands and would happily book again.

Our dog Lucky has separation anxiety and needs a lot of attention, and Teresa did an absolutely amazing job. She took great care of Lucky. She shared daily updates and pictures with us, and Lucky looked very happy. We are very satisfied with the boarding experience with Teresa and will definitely rebook in the future.

This was our first time leaving Lula with a Rover host rather than in a kennel and we were a bit nervous, but Abby immediately eased are worries with detailed updates and great photos. Abby even put Lula's suspender boots on for the walks. When it is very wet outside, Lula becomes filthy and the boots help keep her clean. Even though Lula tolerates putting the boots in, it's never an easy feat with an 80lb dog, so we were very pleased when Abby showed up a happy (dry/clean) Lula with boots on for her walks. We would 100% book with Abby again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
