“My dog felt like he was at home with Lauren! Awesome experience throughout. I was given updates and pictures. Felt at ease during my vacation knowing my dog was well taken care of. Would definitely book again with Lauren!”

“Five very waggy stars for Meghan (and her sweet pup, Ralphie)! Meghan is absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that she is a true dog lover with tons of experience, and she knew exactly how to make our dog feel safe, happy, and completely at home. Our dog was treated like a member of her family and had the time of his life playing with Ralphie and the other dogs. The adorable photos and videos gave us so much peace of mind while we were away...and honestly, I think he was a little sad to come home, which is probably the highest compliment a dog can give. We will absolutely book again. Weekend at Ralphie’s is officially dog-approved!”

“Michael took great care of Kiki again! This was the third time we have left Kiki with Michael in the last few months and every time he has done an excellent job keeping and caring for her. We always receive lots of photos of Kiki from him, which is great for our peace of mind. We will definitely be boarding Kiki with Michael again.”

“This was our first time leaving our Pip at someone else’s home and our nerves were calmed so quickly thanks to Leigh’s care. She had such patience for Pippy’s anxiety with storms. It melted our hearts to know that Pippy was so comfortable she asked for belly rubs.”

“Allis did such a wonderful job watching my 10 y.o. pup, Franklin. She provided daily updates and pictures and videos. I knew Franklin was being loved and well taken care of!”

“Diana and her family are the absolute best!! Our pup has been at Diana's house during winter break for the past 3 years since he was a small puppy, and he gets so much love at her house. He even recognizes her house now and will pull me to her house when we arrive! I appreciate the pictures she sends and updates!”

“Our dog Sparky is older and has a lot of pills to take and medical issues. Kyle was very conscientious and did great with him. We would highly recommend him and would definitely use him again!”

“Mario took great care of our Rhea when we went on vacation. He consistently updated us everyday with pictures of our dog. He responds to us right away and made us feel that Rhea is well taken cared of. Thank you, Mario!”

“**Review for Eileen** I want to take a moment to thank Eileen for her patience and dedication while caring for Dean. I know it was a challenging experience for her, as Dean got overly excited with new dogs and tried to assert dominance. Eileen was very communicative throughout, and I appreciated her willingness to push through those tough moments. The pictures were the best! When we picked Dean up, she was waiting outside with his things and looked understandably overwhelmed. I reassured her that we had never had any complaints about Dean, and we truly appreciate her effort in caring for him. Thank you, Eileen, for your love for dogs and for sticking with Dean despite the challenges. We value your commitment and hope to work with you again in the future! From Dean and Radillo family, thank you!”

“Wilma and her family were amazing with Guy! He looked very happy when we picked him up. We know he was well taken care of. We hope to be able to have Guy visit them again soon.”

“Mark and Lori did a great job hosting Charlie for his first visit in their home! It was clear that they "got him" right away and enjoyed his personality. We will definitely want to board with them again.”

“We’ve been preparing for this long stay with a few overnight stays to get our dog Poppy To get acclimated. Poppy stayed with Noor and her family for 12 nights!! We got updates and pics regularly. Poppy seemed so happy and cared for with them when I came To pick her up she didn’t want to leave right away. Really appreciate all of Noor’s Communication.l Plus all the love her family members have to apply. We’re thrilled to have a found a caring sitter.”

“Michelle was a great dog sitter!!! We did a meet and greet before to make sure the her dog and our dog meshed okay. That put me at ease going into our vacation. Also, it gave us some time to get to know each other. We got daily messages and pics that were fun to see. She has a fenced in yard and deck where the dogs like to pal around. Rosie seemed right at home at her house. Michelle is very communicative and very on top of your pups needs. I can tell she’s a true dog lover!”
“Judy was absolutely wonderful to work with for our dog Simba. We felt comfortable and relaxed to leave him for an extended time for the first time. We could also tell that Simba really enjoyed his time with Judy and Bill. They made him feel right at home, and took such thoughtful and attentive care of him!”

“After reading so many great reviews. We decided to go with Julie to watch both our boys (Mason & Mailo) and we can confirm Julie is the best. We received updates, pictures sent daily and the boys seemed to enjoy their time with Julie. We are very happy to know we have someone we can 100 percent trust with our boys. We highly recommend Julie. Sincerely, Rob & Val ( aka helicopter dog mom)”
“I am so happy that we found Erena! Her love of animals and constant stream of written updates and photos made us feel our pup was taken care of all weekend. Cooper had a wonderful time, made new friends and will be back with Lorena again!”

“Thea is the best dog sitter I have ever encountered. She is loving, caring, patient, flexible and with lots of experiences with dogs. She provided us plenty of updates, photos, and suggestions to improve my handling with dog. She is truly appreciated and we will definitely book her again.”

“Julia helped us with a last minute weekend stay for our senior dog. She sent daily pictures with updates about how he was doing. She’s had a senior dog herself and was familiar with his medicine and was able to give the pills without a problem. Her home had no stairs, which was perfect for our dog since he has arthritis. She lives in a beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood with minimal traffic and sidewalks perfect for walks.”

“Balaji and family were very attentive in taking care of Pipli. They kept sending regular updates with pictures and videos, fed and took Pipli out regularly and kept her well. Pipli made friends with Mocha and they got along really well and played a lot. We came home to a happy and delighted pup. Great work and we’re sure Pipli will look forward to her next stay.”

“Gracie had a wonderful time. She was very, very well taken care of. I had pictures at least twice a day that made me feel that she was so safe. She seemed happy and having a very good time and very comfortable. I will not hesitate to use Susan again if I need Gracie to be watched, they’re very nice people. I feel that I have also made new friends for life.”

Hannah did a fantastic job watching Gatsby when we were out of town multiple times. I was really impressed with her communication , she sent the pics regularly and provided the updates . Gatsby had a great time and we would highly recommend Hannah and intend on trusting her again for any of our future dog needs. Thanks Hannah

D'Artagnan is great! First time leaving my dog Zena with someone else. He made me feel comfortable and confident in leaving my pup with him. Zena was nervous at first with the larger dog. She was trying to hide or would run to the door but when I picked up Zena the next day she didn't want to leave which is the best sign for you to know if went well. D'Artagnan will be my go to when friends and family are not available. Best price and flexible! Especially when you are not fully sure of your travel plans which I appreciate both greatly. Thank you!

Donna is wonderful!! So kind to our dog, accommodating, in-tune with everything our dog needed, and happy to shift time as we needed for schedule changes. Lightning fast responses, amazing daily updates without us even asking. We felt so comfortable knowing our dog was in good hands while we traveled. Highly highly recommend!

Cindy and her family took such good care of Aslan this past week! They so graciously accepted Aslan even when they had just gotten a brand new puppy, so Aslan got to play big brother for a whole week! Cindy sent me so many pictures and videos everyday! I picked up a very happy and tired pup at the end of our trip! Great family to trust with your dog!!

Svitlana was absolutely wonderful to our 5 month old English Bulldog named Snookie. She provided many pictures and videos of Snookie during the 6 days we apart from our puppy. From the moment we stepped foot in her home, we immediately can tell her love for our dog. I highly recommend her and will definately rebook with her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
