“Great pet sitter!! Sent daily updates with pics, awesome communication and my pets were quick to adapt to Gabrielle. We will be sure to keep requesting her services. She even watered our plants while we were away.”

“We really regret that only five stars are available to rate Thea’s service because she deserved all the stars!!! We don't have enough words to express our appreciation of Thea's care for our cat Jess, while we were out of town for six days. Jess is a large 14 year old Maine Coon cat, that at this point of his life, seeking a lot of love and attention. Thea was a great companion to Jess and she gifted us a worry free vacation. We knew she is always next to Jess and we did not worry about a cat! From day one, we learned that Thea is a loving, intelligent, disciplined, responsible, and a very creative person. She put a lot of extra miles by learning Jess's eating habit and sharing her thoughts with us. She took Jess outside for a walk, played with Jess and advanced him to be active! She also decorated Jess’s corner with the colorful balloons on his birthday. Thea constantly sent us the, pictures, videos and messages with the updates on Jess's wellbeing. No doubts, Thea is the best and we highly recommend her to every loving pets owners!”

“Eva was AMAZING with our Tiny. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. It made us be able to enjoy our international vacation knowing Eva was taking such great care of Tiny and giving her all the love and care she needed while we were away. We just LOVE Eva and so did our Tiny girl. We will use only her everytime we need a date night or a vacation where we can’t take Tiny. I can tell our Tiny misses her because of how much love and care Eva gave Tiny. ❤️🐾🐾”

“We’re so thankful that Ana was able to hang out with our cat and dog again today! While we were away, she kept us laughing by sending us the funny expressions our dog naturally makes and provided us with regular updates. We truly recommend Ana for any pet-sitting you may need!”

“Emily is once again amazing as a sitter with our little pup. She’s super communicative and sent so many picks. Toast absolutely loves her! I feel so comfortable any time we have to leave knowing Emily will be there.”

“Amy was absolutely amazing with our 90 lb bulldog, Beast! From the moment we met her, we knew he was in great hands. She was attentive, caring, and went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and happy. We loved the updates and pictures she sent, and it was clear that Beast adored her. It’s not easy finding someone who can handle a big, strong pup, but Amy did it effortlessly. We’ll definitely be booking with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Karina stayed at our house for two weeks, watching our dogs and cats while we were away on vacation. During our entire time away she was very communicative and shared plenty of photos! She made sure we knew our animals were well taken care of the entire time sharing details of walks and feedings. When we came back all the animals were happy and the house was spotless and in an even better condition than when we had left it. If you are looking for somebody to take care of your animals, Karina is an excellent choice.”

“Michael did a fantastic job and was able to watch my pups over the holidays. Gave frequent updates. Alerted me to any issues. I returned to find the house just as I left it and my dogs were happy and healthy. I would have no issues booking again.”

“Charlotte was fantastic. We had a few hiccups and she was beyond helpful. She was very communicative and sent daily updates with pictures. I would highly recommend her to anyone for pet sitting and will definitely use her again!”

“For the first time in 12 years, I decided that taking my female Maltese, Gemini, on vacation with me was going to be too difficult. My family planned and invited me to an international 13 day trip with many planned stops and activities was too much to handle (I use a walker and I'm 83) so I hired Tina to watch my dog and home. Managing a dog that has not separated from its owner in 12 plus years is challenging. Tina did a great job of dealing with the separation anxiety while simultaneously building a relationship with her. Within days, Tina had won Gemini over and that allowed me to completely enjoy and unforgettable vacation. I am so grateful. Tina also watched my home and did a great job with that. Tina is responsible, attentive to even the smallest details and is 100% committed to take care of her customers. I will hire her again.”

“Krissy is amazing. Very professional. Extremely communicative and sent a ton of pictures of our babies while we were away. We were able to really enjoy our time away knowing our babies were in good hands. Would love to have her back!”

About: Hi there! I'm a lifelong pet lover and owner with pet-sitting experience for family and friends. Their dogs always walk away from my pet sitting with lots of walks, belly rubs, and playtime! I'm comfortable with all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs needing a gentler pace. I'm also an avid runner, so if your pup has energy to burn, I'm happy to take them jogging instead of just walking. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priority. Can't wait to meet your furry friend!I I currently have an open schedule, which means I can be flexible with walks, visits, or sitting whenever your pet needs me. This means I can do mornings, afternoons, evenings, or last-minute requests. I will make sure I make the most of me and your pet’s time together. Fresh water and food, playtime, daily exercise, and lots of affection. I’ll send pictures and updates throughout the day so you can check on your pet!
About: I started off taking care of dogs at a young age. My grandma owns a large labrador and a small yorkie. I’ve had many experiences dog-sitting and walking. I have my own golden doodle that I love to death. I am able to go on walks every weekday. Monday through Friday i’m available from 4-7 PM. My hours will become more flexible during summer break. I’m used to handling big dogs as well as small dogs. I know how to keep a dog calm and under control during a walk. I’ll always make sure to watch out for cars, bikers, and pedestrians.
“We were contemplating on how our 2 dogs were going to be taken care of while we were on vacation for 4 days. We have a 9 year old Dachshund and a 4 month old German Shepherd and were skeptical of boarding them in a kennel due to the fact that we didn’t want to put that stress on a puppy. We usually have a family member stay at the house to care for the dogs while we are gone for a long period of time, but we didn’t have this option during this time. We came across Rover and said to ourselves, “Let’s meet a sitter and see what happens”. We came across Carolyn and chose her because of her background working with animals. When we met her, we knew instantly we liked her and our 2 dogs enjoyed her. So we moved forward with booking her and when we returned back from our trip, our 2 dogs were happy and well taken care of! We’ll definitely be using Carolyn in the future!”

“I can’t believe how good Lily was with our pup and home. We felt so safe with her being there. Our dog is usually so timid and scared around people and she was so happy with Lily!!! She took great care of everything and sent many updates, everything was clean when we got home, and she truly did more than what was expected with our baby”

Amy watched our two kitties for several days. She was very friendly, responsive and kept us up-to-date with messages and pictures the whole time. Our girls were well taken care of and we could enjoy our vacation more knowing they were in good hands. I definitely recommend Amy and will book her again in the future.
If I could give Thea 10 stars I would! Thea took amazing care of our 2 large dogs and 2 cats while we were gone for 5 days. She regularly provided detailed (and entertaining!) updates and pictures. On top of it all, we came home to a spotless home. That's saying a lot with our furry menagerie!
I can’t believe how good Lily was with our pup and home. We felt so safe with her being there. Our dog is usually so timid and scared around people and she was so happy with Lily!!! She took great care of everything and sent many updates, everything was clean when we got home, and she truly did more than what was expected with our baby

Karina was a wonderful house-sitting dog sitter, staying with our dog for nearly a week. She sent regular updates and pictures so we felt totally at ease while away. We returned to a very clean home, just as we left it. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and well-cared for the entire time. She even got him to take multiple walks a day, which is not typical for him! We will book Karina again!

Ana was such a great sitter for our dog, Ollie! Ollie has some behavioral problems due to his anxiety, which is why we haven't used anyone outside friends/family for over 8 years. We took a chance on Ana and we are so happy we did. She was very patient with Ollie and made sure to read his body language so that he felt safe and comfortable with her. Would definitely recommend!

Branislava is fantastic! She took such great care of our dog while we were away for the weekend. Nova got lots of walks, snuggles, and play time, and we got so many great pictures and updates. And our house was even cleaner than when we left! Thank you Branislava!

Michael was great sitting our 3 dogs in our home! We have small, medium, and large and personalities to match, and Michael managed them all well. He sent pictures and videos daily, which kept our minds at ease while we were away. Our home was left as we found it. We are pleased overall and grateful for Michael's services!

Monica took wonderful care of our fur babies and our home while we were away for a week! We have a puppy and senior dog and Monica was great with both! She even worked on some training with our pup! She provided great communication and sent lots of pictures to reassure us our girls were doing well while we were away. If you are looking for someone you can trust to take good care of your fur babies (and your home) while you’re traveling, I highly recommend Monica. We will definitely be requesting her again in the future!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,057 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Prospect Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Prospect Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Prospect Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Prospect Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
