About: hello! my name is charlize i’m 22 i’ve grown up with animals my whole life and now i currently work at an animal hospital helping taking care of the dogs and cats that come in to see the vet. i’m very experienced with animals and taking care of animals and i love all different kinds of animals. i’ve worked at the animal hospital now for two and a half years and its been the most amazing two and a half years of my life. i am also going to school to practice becoming a veterinarian so i am really excited to meet all new furry friends for more experience. i am good with administering medication, i am good with dealing with aggressive dogs, i am good with any diabetic cat or dog with dosing insulin. you name it and i can do it!! i work part time hours at the animal hospital during the summer months and full time during fall and winter but i am extremely flexible, as i work on my terms and conditions. i am willing to fit last minute accommodation if it works with my personal schedule but i can also take time out of my day if needed to walk a dog etc. i unfortunately cannot have pets in my building but i am more than willing and able to go to anyone else’s beloved home to pet sit, or walk, or feed animals. i come in with a soft expression and wait for the animals to get used to me and my scent and then i wait for their approval to come further in their home/space. i am very careful to not touch them when they don’t want to be touched and i am always patient with animals especially if they’re new to my route.

“Makayla was SO great! She recently completed a house sitting visit. She was very communicative, sent lots of pictures (which we loved), and took great care of not only our dog Kygo, but our home as well. You’d never even know she stayed here for a few days - that’s how well she cleaned up. Our dog can sometimes be unsure of new people coming into the house but Makayla was patient with him and they are now good buddies :) We plan to book more drop-ins, walks, and overnights with her. I recommend you book her ASAP, you will not regret it. Having peace of mind about our dog is too priority when we travel and Makayla exceeded all expectations. 5/5”

About: I started off taking care of dogs at a young age. My grandma owns a large labrador and a small yorkie. I’ve had many experiences dog-sitting and walking. I have my own golden doodle that I love to death. I am able to go on walks every weekday. Monday through Friday i’m available from 4-7 PM. My hours will become more flexible during summer break. I’m used to handling big dogs as well as small dogs. I know how to keep a dog calm and under control during a walk. I’ll always make sure to watch out for cars, bikers, and pedestrians.
“Jennifer stayed in my home and took care of my Shar-pei Chuffy. This is the first time I've used a service to take care of my dog. She was totally reliable and kept me updated with texts and photos. She won over my standoffish boy and he fell completely in love with her. I would recommend her to anyone.”

“Justin stayed with our two pups, housesitting for us for almost a week. He was simply amazing with the pups, communication and managing the house. He is reliable and trustworthy and will be our first call the next time we need a pet/house sitter.”

“Scott watched our 12 year old dog Molly while we were away for a long weekend. Molly has had recent surgery and has a bad leg. It was wonderful to know that she was so well cared for while we were gone. We came back home to a happy girl who was moving well. It was also comforting to know our house was safe while we were gone. Scott updated us that she was eating well and everything was going smoothly. Would definitely recommend and would use again!”

About: I have had a dog since I was a kid and love the companionship they bring to our family. Very experienced in grooming and feeding and all types of care that dogs can require. Have also had senior pets that needed lots of special care that I am always happy to provide. I work from home, so here all day with my Goldendoodle. Also have a flexible work schedule for walks during the day and in the evenings. Weekends we like to take longer walks to explore the neighborhood around us. I have a fenced in yard, a Goldendoodle that loves to play with other dogs, and three 20ish year old sons who love to care for pets.
“Kaylee was wonderful pet sitting for us while we were gone on a long weekend trip. We got consistent updates, pictures, and we felt extremely comfortable with her. We absolutely recommend her and will happily use her services again.”

“Stacey put a lot of love and care into watching our animals, and sent us lots of updates and videos of how they were doing. I think they were better behaved for her than they are for us. I would absolutely recommend her if anyone needs a petsitter.”

“Sarah took care of our cat for four days at our house while we were away. He has to be given medication at certain times during the day and also loves human attention. Sarah was caring and responsible, spent time hanging out with him, and made sure he got his meals and medicine at the right times. She also checked in with us, asked good questions, and responded quickly when we checked in with her. We hope to hire Sarah again, and highly recommend her for petsitting and housesitting.”

“My dog is terrified of thunderstorms and I reached out to Becca to provide company for him during a potential storm. She did a great job with my dog and made sure he was comfortable. I would definitely use Becca again in the future and recommend her to anyone else.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Long Grove
I can't say enough good things about Eva! She was absolutely amazing! She won over my two tiny dogs and by the time the week was over they didn't want her to leave. She sent me photos and updates three times a day and let me know everything that was going on with them. She was so caring and loving towards them. I cannot recommend her enough! I will for sure be using her again!

Thankful Note yo Abigail who stayed with our 2 doggies/Jack Russel/Luf and Lola. We asked Abbie to take them outside twice a day but she even stopped in the afternoon time to feed them, play with them and take them outside. We are Happy that we met Abigail on Rover and were able travel to Europe for a week. Thank you Again!!
We’re so grateful for the wonderful care of our dogs! Our older German Shepherd developed vertigo the week before our trip and was still a bit weak and unsteady when we left. Claudia took amazing care of her, and she returned much stronger. It was such a comfort knowing our dogs were in great hands so we could fully enjoy our trip.

Rebecca was a wonderful sitter! She was reliable, dependable, and so sweet to our pup! We had home renovations going on at the time of her sitting for us and she was so accommodating, which we greatly appreciated!! She provided us with wonderful updates about our dog. It was so nice to know our pup was in good hands while we were away! We would highly recommend Rebecca to anyone! Overall, such an amazing experience with her!!

Ben was absolutely outstanding. He showed up on time every day, accommodated my changing schedule, and, most important of all, he's a dog lover who knows what dogs need and how to keep them happy and entertained. Grayson would get so excited every day when Ben showed up! Basically, it was easy having Ben take care of Grayson. I only had to explain things once and he just handled things. And there really wasn't much explaining anyhow because, as a dog owner himself, Ben understands dogs. My kids are home from college now, so I have most of my dog needs covered, but I'll be calling Ben for any days that the kids aren't available. And Ben will be my only choice when they go back to school in August!

Brenda was absolutely fantastic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter while we were out of town for over a week. From the very beginning, she gave us complete peace of mind. She sent daily updates with photos and videos, which made it so easy to relax and enjoy our trip knowing our dogs were in such great hands. She truly went above and beyond in every way. Not only did she take excellent care of our dogs, but she also handled our senior dog’s twice-daily oral medication flawlessly, which was incredibly important to us. It’s clear she is both attentive and experienced. On top of that, we came home to a house that was in even better condition than when we left. She vacuumed, sanitized the countertops, and even emptied the dishwasher—none of which we asked for. It was such a thoughtful touch and made coming home that much easier. Brenda is reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring. We feel so lucky to have found her and will absolutely be booking with her again in the future. Highly, highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Long Grove walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Long Grove maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Long Grove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Long Grove. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
