“Cristina was wonderful! Great communicator, flexible, and sent us updates as requested. Lincoln loved playing with Bear and came home happy! Highly recommend Cristina.”

“Amanda is seriously the best! My boys were in the best hands with her and her daughter. They sent the cutest pictures and were so communicative! My pups came home very tired which is a great sign! Can’t wait to book with her again in the future :)”

“Cindy & her family were absolutely amazing with my pup. I am really cautious about leaving my girl behind, but Cindy made me feel at ease immediately. I received many sweet photos and updates. Highly recommend!!!”

“1st time leaving my dog with complete strangers but when I tell you, it was the best decision we made. When I walked into their home to dropped my dog off, there was such a calmness I felt, all nervousness disappeared immediately. My dog was loved and well taken care of, we got daily updates and pictures from the family. I will 100% have them sit my dog again.”

“Gabriela and Richard were so kind and sweet with my toy poodle! They even took her on little adventures to get doggie ice cream and nice walks around the neighborhood, aside from plenty of outside time in their own fenced-in backyard! Gabriela was super great about texting updates and super cute pics of my girl! And they even got her to eat a good bit while I was away even though she usually tries to go on a hunger strike in my absence. Gabriela met us for like 15 mins at the local park before boarding and got to know my dog and garner some info from me, which I really appreciated and not a lot of boarders do that! My girl was very happy when I picked her up and I would absolutely rebook Gabriela and Richard! Highly recommend!”

“Julie is amazing! We’ve used her twice now, and our dog has come home completely content, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. Julie is reliable, communicates throughout the stay, and has such a loving presence that our pup certainly feels comfortable with her right away. It’s such a relief knowing he’s with someone who treats him like family. We’re so grateful to have found her and will absolutely book with her again. HIGHLY recommend.”
“Anish, Carol and their sweet children took such great care of our puppy for the weekend. They treated him like family and sent updates and just an all around wonderful family! Would def recommend! We hope to see you all again! Our puppy was definitely on a staycation with Anish and family! :)”

“When Noodles is with Doug and Deb, we rest easy on our trips knowing he is well cared for and entertained. We’ve experienced short stays and a longer stay recently for one week. I love to see how responsive he is with them, telling me he enjoys spending time in their home. The pictures we receive from Doug & Deb show Noodles around their home, happy and content. Doug & Deb are truly amazing and a stay with them feels like being at home!”

“I felt like our dog was in really great hands. Our dog is a bit older and has some quirks and needs daily meds, but Vladimir and Laura didn’t bat an eye. You can tell they are seasoned dog sitters.”

“Kyle did an amazing job with Merlin! He watched him for about a week during our family’s move, and with her to send pictures and videos to keep us updated while we missed him. Great communication! We highly recommend Kyle”

“Susan and her husband were just wonderful with our senior dog. She required a special diet with supplements and lots of TLC, which they followed through with just great. They have a lovely enclosed yard and a sweet pup of their own to provide company. Will definitely be making use of their services again.”

“Naomi was great!! She was very prepared and ready to learn about and to care for our dogs just the way they needed. Our dogs had the best time taking long walks, lounging, and looking out the big window. She took the time to introduce our dogs and Milo and they became great friends. The house was quiet, very clean, and perfect for our dogs. We loved seeing the daily photos while we were traveling. Definitely would recommend!”

“Took great care of my little kitty and let her be part of her lovely family. Very communicative & helpful as a first time rover user! She was also super flexible in terms of last minute booking, pickup times, etc.”

“Is there a 10 star option? Katelyn and Andrew are the BEST. They took such amazing care of Fry. They took him on walks, they let him sleep wherever he wanted, and they asked the most thoughtful questions. Would recommend without hesitation.”

“Mario took great care of our Rhea when we went on vacation. He consistently updated us everyday with pictures of our dog. He responds to us right away and made us feel that Rhea is well taken cared of. Thank you, Mario!”

“Allis is the best! She took such great care of my dog, as always. I love the pics and videos each day. She really cared about him, especially making sure he felt safe on 4th of July!”

“Freddy was well taken care of by Mike and Janet. We got plenty of pics and msgs about how Freddy was doing. We will definitely have Mike watch Freddy again when we leave town! Super nice people!!”

Tatiana took great care of Penny. We trust her with our older girl who needs a little extra attention and medication. Tatiana is always responsive with communication and updates. She’s kind and professional and makes sure she has everything you need for your pets to be comfortable and happy. This was Penny’s third visit and will definitely look to Tatiana as a first choice to book again. Thanks again for taking such great care of her!
Donna is wonderful!! So kind to our dog, accommodating, in-tune with everything our dog needed, and happy to shift time as we needed for schedule changes. Lightning fast responses, amazing daily updates without us even asking. We felt so comfortable knowing our dog was in good hands while we traveled. Highly highly recommend!

Cindy and her family took such good care of Aslan this past week! They so graciously accepted Aslan even when they had just gotten a brand new puppy, so Aslan got to play big brother for a whole week! Cindy sent me so many pictures and videos everyday! I picked up a very happy and tired pup at the end of our trip! Great family to trust with your dog!!

Melissa and her whole family treated my dog in a loving and caring manner. The kids were great with my dog and she has two dogs that got along well with my boy. Melissa sent me pictures and updates which I really appreciated!! I can highly recommend Melissa. She is a great caretaker!

Anish, Carol and their sweet children took such great care of our puppy for the weekend. They treated him like family and sent updates and just an all around wonderful family! Would def recommend! We hope to see you all again! Our puppy was definitely on a staycation with Anish and family! :)

This was our third time booking with Paola, and once again she was amazing! She’s incredibly accommodating, has great communication, and sent lots of photos and videos throughout Leia’s stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Leia absolutely loves Paola and her cat, Khalil, and it’s clear she feels right at home. Paola also keeps a very clean and tidy home. We couldn’t recommend her more and will be booking with her again. Thank you Paola and Khalil!

Joanna and her family were absolutely amazing with our boy. We could see their passion for dogs and caring for them, right away. We were away for a week and while we missed Sarge very much, we were at great ease with the care he recieved. Sarge got along great with their two absolutely adorable dogs. We were very impressed with the pictures and daily updates. We will 100% rebook with Joanna. Highly recommend! 🐾

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
