“Yamile is super nice and you can tell she likes pets. She took good care of my dog and cat. I also appreciated that her dog was very chill, even around my cat (they barely acknowledged each other!). Would book with her again.”

“Kent is a lifesaver! It was the weekend of my daughter’s wedding and I had a sitter scheduled and had even dropped my dog off. Unfortunately, my sitters dog had a medical emergency and I had to pick up my dog within hours of dropping her off. I was so nervous, having to find another sitter for a weekend stay, starting the same day, without having met the potential sitter, all while trying to finish up last minute wedding preparations. Enter Kent! I reached out to several Rover sitters as I knew it was going to be tough to find someone so last minute. Kent was one of a few to respond positively, which was amazing to actually have options at this point! I read Kent’s bio and he sounded so kind and it was apparent that he loved dogs. I am thrilled to say that he exceeded my expectations!! He and my pup, Alice, got along so well and he clearly loved her. He sent lovely updates and photos of her throughout the weekend. I will definitely be using Kent again to watch my dog. I truly couldn’t be happier with how the weekend went. I was able to fully concentrate on my daughter’s wedding without a worry about my Alice. Thank you, Kent!!”

“My dog made himself right at home with Eliza! They got on really well and I had loads of pictures during his stay. He was very happy and healthy when I saw him again, and he enjoyed himself tremendously. I’m very happy to recommend Eliza as someone who is very enthusiastic about dogs, has a great place, takes really good care of them (let my dog out several times a day!). She was great and I hope we can visit her again sometime! (Tucker thinks so too...)”
“"We are so happy we found Sana to watch Yogi while we were away for six days over spring break! It is always a bit nerve-wracking leaving a pet for nearly a week, but we were able to relax knowing he was in such great hands. Sana was professional, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for dogs. We received regular updates, which we really appreciated. Yogi came home happy, healthy, and well-rested. We would recommend Sana to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter, and we will definitely be reaching out again for future trips!”

“Chris was magic to work with. Super communicative, easy-going and ultimately a dog lover. I highly recommend Chris for anyone who is looking for extended dog boarding. (We used Chris for over a week while moving down to Florida). Thanks again for having our Pyradoodle!”

“Bryan was fantastic taking care of Simba for a couple of days. He was fast to respond and gave us much confidence about Simba’s stay right from the start. The meet and greet at his place was a success ! Simba loved the yard so much !! Bryan and his family took care of Simba so well, handled communications and updates regularly and also making Simba be as comfortable as possible. Bryan also gave us a sweet gift when we picked Simba up ! Thank you Bryan for taking care of our Simba like your own❤️ I highly recommend Bryan to anyone who is wanting care for their pet.”

“Patricia took amazing care of Zoey. She was great with sending us video and photo updates which gave us peace of mind. I highly recommend Patricia and look forward to having her watch Zoey again.”

“I highly recommend Olga for her pet sitting services. She took amazing care of our dog, Zoey. She played with her and took Zoey on a lot of walks (which she loves). Her communication was great- she sent daily video and photo updates which gave us peace of mind… Zoey looked like she was having the best time. We can’t wait to have Olga watch Zoey again!”

“First time using the Rover service and Eileen made the experience easy and care free. She welcomed our dog Buster into her home like she would her own dogs, and helped make his time away from his people to be a pleasant experience for him. Eileen was great about daily check in's and communication. We definitely will keep Eileen in mind for future boarding needs. Thanks Eileen for taking such good care of Buster!”

“This was my dogs first time thing with Kyle. During our initial meeting, Kyle was very kind and has a nice dog friendly apartment. I didn’t feel any worry about if my dog was going to be well taken care of. During my dog’s stay, Kyle kept me up-to-date with daily pictures and feedback on their activity for that day. Kyle is very interactive and I would highly recommend him even if you have a high energy dog like mine!”

“Michelle took AWESOME care of my dogs. At the meet and greet we discussed concerns I had about my dogs staying in a strange place and Michelle was so good with them none of the concerns I had up front were a problem. She patiently worked through separation anxiety problems, behaviors I can't see when I'm around, until she found a solution, and updated me on everything. Now I know more about how my dogs act when I'm not around and my dogs have learned how to handle some new situations. They had a blast spending days in the yard or snuggling up to watch movies. And my little one learned than some kids love to play fetch as much as she does.”

“Kimberly helped us out with a super last minute 2 week boarding stay. Dallas was well taken care of and made a new little bestie in Kimberly’s son (probably because he had all the treats 😂)!”

“Scott and his family were amazing! They were able to help us with our Dazey last minute and took great care of her! She loved his family so much and misses them!”

“We had a great experience with Meghan! Freddy was happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of attention while we were away. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, and we really appreciated the updates and photos. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands and would happily book again.”

This was our third time booking with Paola, and once again she was amazing! She’s incredibly accommodating, has great communication, and sent lots of photos and videos throughout Leia’s stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Leia absolutely loves Paola and her cat, Khalil, and it’s clear she feels right at home. Paola also keeps a very clean and tidy home. We couldn’t recommend her more and will be booking with her again. Thank you Paola and Khalil!

We had an amazing experience with Leigh & Richard watching our dog Ivy for over a week! Ivy is a 7-yr old rescue and can be very skittish at times and hesitant with new people and locations. Leigh took the time to watch her a few times before our trip to get comfortable with her and Ivy did great! We were sent pictures daily of Ivy while on our trip, which made it so much better as we could be stress-free over our dog. Their fenced in yard also worked out perfectly to give Ivy plenty of time outside. Thanks again! We hope to continue this relationship!

Our 7 year old lab with cancer was well taken care of for 4 days by the husband and wife duo. Me and family were able to relax and enjoy our vacation since we knew Sago was in safe caring hands. Prithvi was also kind enough to send pictures of Sago every day which eased our mind even more. Sago had a fun time with their dog Loki. We highly recommend.
Emily was awesome! She took special care of my cat. When she sent me videos, it warmed my heart to see him out and about and purring. He was even a little reticent to come home (I have a big, goofy, cat-chasing dog). She gave me such peace of mind for the nine days he was with her. I can’t thank her enough and recommend her highly.

D’Artagnan did an amazing job with Groot! Our dog tends to get anxious when we're away and was unable to keep his food down the first day. D’Artagnan handled it perfectly - he kept us informed with regular updates and photos, and even provided probiotics to help settle his stomach. We felt so relieved knowing Groot was in such capable and caring hands. We highly recommend D’Artagnan for anyone looking for a thoughtful and attentive sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
