“Lauren was an exceptional provider of boarding for our 10-year-old dog who has separation anxiety and hasn’t had much experience staying with other people. We had a short meet-and-greet to make sure our dogs seemed compatible, and then I was very comfortable leaving Lou with her. She put me at ease with a picture right away and throughout his stay. It was easy to communicate with her about things that were happening or that she had questions about. I would definitely trust Lauren again for boarding and other services.”

“Is there a 10 star option? Katelyn and Andrew are the BEST. They took such amazing care of Fry. They took him on walks, they let him sleep wherever he wanted, and they asked the most thoughtful questions. Would recommend without hesitation.”

“Leigh & Richard watched our Boo for 10 days. They were great, sending texts and pictures to keep us up to date. Boo seemed very happy! Everything went well, and we will definitely have them take care of Boo again.”

“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”

“Michael is very pleasant and welcoming. Always has a smile on his face. Daisy just loves going there. The pictures Mike sends shows how happy Daisy is while in his care. Mike took her for several walks which she loves. His dogs get along with Daisy too. Micheal goes that extra mile on the care of the dogs. 🐾”

“We were so happy with the care that was provided for our two dogs. We received pictures of our dogs. They looked happy. She alway went the extra mile for our dogs. One of the dogs was licking his paw alot and she provided care for him. She kept us informed and we were confident of her care. We are so thankful and will definitely recommend her with your dog.”

“I just picked up my dog from a 12-day stay with Bob. This was our second time using him & both times everything seemed to go really well. Bingo had a great time playing with other dogs; I received numerous videos so I could see how much fun he was having, how many chin rubs he got, & even where he liked to snooze. Bob seems to have a way with dogs.”

“This is the second time Wolfie stayed with Kim while we visited Great Wolf Lodge. Although he is nervous and doesn't like strangers, he had an easy time warming up to Kim. She sent us many updates of them going on walks, enjoying her outdoor area, and (his lap dog favorite) keeping close while she worked. When he wouldn't eat his usual dog food, she prepared him special food (with our blessing). We always knew he was in excellent hands and will be back for another visit if we head to Great Wolf Lodge or Great America!”

“Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Saga. I appreciated all the pictures you shared, it let me know that she was really enjoying herself! It is truly a comfort having such wonderful caretakers available when I have had to be out of town.”

“Balaji was very nice, our doggie Mocha had a great time. Balaji kept us updated with photos and videos. Balaji also has a dog with the same name Mocha and it seems both Mochas had great time, Balaji also took Mocha on a walk multiple times a day. We felt at ease knowing that Mocha was happy and comfortable. I higly recomend and would use Balaji’s services again in the future.”

“Nami loved staying with Vicki and her family!!! :) Nami was constantly playing and enjoyed plenty of outdoor time. Vicki did a wonderful job at sending pictures/videos and keeping me updated on Nami’s adventures! If you’re looking for someone to take great care of your dog while keeping you updated on all the adventures, I highly recommend Vicki!”

“Michelle took great care of our dog. She is very organized, thorough and responsive. She has a lovely home and a very big and gentle dog who will make a great friend to any dog guest. She definitely spoiled our dog! Highly recommended.”

“Mary is great! We live out of state and come back to Chicago to visit family often and she has become our go-to sitter when we’re in town. Linus, our 4yo mini schnauzer, gets along well with her dogs and makes himself at home with Mary. We will be back again. Thanks, Mary!”

“She truly did a great job for my dog. She treated her very well and gave us frequent updates about her. We could tell that she cared for her so much. We felt very comfortable with her taking care of our dog. We would highly recommend her as a dog sitter!!”

“Byron and Martha were great hosts and took great care of our Yorkie boys! They sent daily pictures and messages to let us know how the boys were doing, so we didn't have to worry during our trip. I highly recommend them, and I'll be bringing the boys back whenever my wife and I travel again.”

“Thank you Jayne, for looking after Alley so well. She was a very happy dog when we picked her up. We will definitely be using your services again the next time we are out of town. You provided a great home away from home experience for Alley. The regular photos and videos were very reassuring. Thank you again.”

“We went on a vacation for an extended time and June provided an excellent service so we could enjoy our time without any concerns. She sent us the pictures with brief details everyday and we could definitely tell that our dog has been in a good hand at the end of the stay. We definitely want to be a regular. Thank you!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Long Grove
We had another fantastic experience with Marissa. This was her second time watching our 11 years old dachshund, and we couldn't be happier. Since he's a senior dog, it means the world to us knowing he's in such gentle, attentive, and caring hands. He was so happy, relaxed, and well-cared for the entire time. We will definitely be booking Marissa again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving pet sitter.
Kyle was our first Rover boarding experience. It was important for us to find an in-home situation where our dog would be the only dog and wouldn’t be alone for extended periods of time. Kyle’s setup was a great fit for us. His work-from-home schedule provided consistency during her stay, and his calm demeanor helped her feel comfortable. At our meet-and-greet, she leaned into Kyle right away, which was a great sign since she can sometimes take a little time to warm up to new people. She seemed comfortable and settled during her stay, which was the most important thing to us. Kyle was responsive when we checked in about how she was doing and sent photo updates from their walks. She was well cared for, and we appreciated knowing she had someone looking after her attentively while we were away. We would certainly rebook with him.

We are so grateful for Balaji and his utmost care during our dog Chucky’s stay. He was very well taken care of and we were kept up to date everyday while we were away, which we appreciated a lot. Chucky has enjoyed his time here and I recommend Balaji as a dog sitter to everyone looking for an experienced sitter who truly cares about dogs.

We are so thankful for the wonderful care our dog received! From the very beginning, we felt completely comfortable knowing he was in such good hands. Marissa sent us regular pictures and updates while we were away, which gave us so much peace of mind and made us so happy to see how well he was doing. ♥️

Logan was an amazing pet sitter. She took care of our three cats for three days and two nights. Logan is very patient and nurturing with pets. She gave us daily updates and sent adorable pictures. She’s very responsible and is amazing with animals. We’d highly recommend her as a pet sitter.

We couldn't have been happier with the care our two Shih Tzus received during their 9-day stay. From the moment we left, we felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. One thing we especially appreciated was the regular updates. Yuliia sent adorable photos and videos almost every day, along with the sweetest comments about what the dogs were doing and how they were settling in. It meant so much to us while we were away and really helped us feel connected to them. It's clear that she genuinely loves dogs and treats them like family. Our pups were happy, well cared for, and clearly comfortable with her. We would absolutely trust her with them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative sitter.

Jessie and Jeeps (her dog) were fantastic! She was accommodating with our dogs routine and walked him many times each day. She was extremely communicative and sent many pictures which made me as a dog mama feel so much more comfortable using rover for the first time. Highly recommend Jessie to watch your pups!

Stephanie is the ABSOLUTE BEST! My pup is high anxiety and didn't do well at those fancy pet resorts. Stephanie made sure he was well cared for while we were out of the country for 2 weeks. She asked that I write down his daily routine so she can closely stick to his schedule. She also sent daily updates and photos to ease my mind knowing how tough it was for me to be away for a long period. Knowing she is studying to be a veterinary assistant was icing on the cake. My pup definitely loved spending time with her and was attached to her warm and caring personality from the very beginning. I highly recommend booking her for all of your pet sitting needs. I will definitely book her again!

This was Theodore’s first time staying with someone new, and Debi made it an excellent experience. She was caring, attentive, and kept us updated with photos and messages. Theodore came back happy and relaxed - clearly well cared for. We’ll definitely book with Debi again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
