“Julie was available last minute, and even with the limited time she was swift to respond and easy to communicate with. We dropped Brutus off and met her two dogs and son who would all be hanging out - I could instantly tell this was going to be great for our Maltese. After receiving a few fun photos throughout the stay, Brutus was happy and totally exhausted when we picked him up. Thanks for a great stay and highly recommended!”

“Thao was amazing! She agreed to take in Benji at the last minute. We received pictures throughout his stay. I can't thank Thao enough for taking great care of our precious Benjamin.”

“We had a great experience with Meghan! Freddy was happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of attention while we were away. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, and we really appreciated the updates and photos. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands and would happily book again.”

“Julia helped us with a last minute weekend stay for our senior dog. She sent daily pictures with updates about how he was doing. She’s had a senior dog herself and was familiar with his medicine and was able to give the pills without a problem. Her home had no stairs, which was perfect for our dog since he has arthritis. She lives in a beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood with minimal traffic and sidewalks perfect for walks.”

“Jayne was amazing - definitely the best caretaker I have worked with thus far. Gumbo absolutely loved her and it showed through in all the pictures she sent me (major plus as it makes me feel more secure with being away). Jayne really went above and beyond - taking notes when I was going over his daily routine and even helping me carry back all his supplies at the end of the day. We will definitely be using her going forward and would highly recommend her to other users in the midtown east area. Thanks for everything Jayne!!”

About: I owned a cat for 16 years and most recently a dog for almost 16! Not ready for another of my own just yet, but missing the cuddles and walks! As a teacher my school year is winding down. I will be available starting Tues. June 9, daily, for the whole summer. Hope to get a chance to spoil your pet soon! I have a fenced in side yard area that dogs can use throughout the day. I also have my own crate that a dog can sleep in, as well as my own litter box for cats to use.
“One of the best experiences I have had for my Tuffy. Svitlana was absolutely amazing. Took great care of my girl and sent me numerous photos and videos. Such a kind lady who definitely takes care of each guest as one of her own! Thank you Svitlana, I will be reaching out again when I need it!”

About: I've had cats and dogs since childhood, so I have a life-long experience with dogs of different sizes and breads, German shepherd, Husky, Chihuahua, at this moment I have a wonderful maltipoo kind of bread. I’m currently not employed and can take care of our small friends full time. Usually waking up at 7:30 and going to bad at 10:30 if the schedule for walking different I can fit it into mine and make adjustments. I live in apartments on 1-st floor, but don't have a fenced yard. Right by my building locates a good walking zone for dogs, the area is treated for ticks.
“We had a wonderful experience with them. They provided daily pictures and videos to update us on how our pup was doing. He was cared for so well. We would definitely use them again in the future!”

“Thea was great we received daily updates and pictures. Bailey had plenty of play time with Thea’s dog and the other guests staying over. Bailey has been home for a day now and seems exhausted after the great stay he had. Thea will be watching Bailey again next month and I’m sure he will get the same great care.”

About: Growing up, my mother would buy and sell dogs. It was quite traumatic. I vowed to be better than her. I've had my dog Odin for 8 years, and I will happily care for your pet as well. Fortunately, my trauma is your gain. I'm well versed on most dog breeds and I know how to research breeds if something comes up. You can sit back and relax because my care for your dog will be the best. My commute is only 15mins away. So I take care of the dogs in the morning, then I care for them again on my lunch break. Then again after work and throughout the night with my own dog, Odin. I have several dog beds and comfy spaces for them to rest. I have a zone in my home that is for dogs only. They can grab a toy from the toy box or they can look out the balcony window as shades are always open for your pupper!
“We appreciated the updates letting us know our dog was having a fun time during his stay! Great communication. It always means a lot to know our dog is being well cared for. Already booked a second stay!”

“Vicki and her family were exactly what we were looking for for Boomer while we were gone for 2 weeks for our wedding! He couldn’t have been happier, forgetting we even exist, as he had constant entertainment between the other dogs, the adorable kids, the huge fenced in backyard, etc. Vicki sent multiple photos a day so we could see Boomer’s smiling face. And now he’ll be tired for the next week, so big win 😊 highly recommend!”

“I’d like to share my experience with Christina, who recently cared for my dog, Moxy. Right before the boarding, Moxy had an injury, and I was a bit nervous about leaving her. But Christina was incredibly understanding and attentive from the start. She went above and beyond to make sure Moxy was comfortable and well taken care of. Christina kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which really helped ease my mind. She made sure Moxy was fed properly and gave her the extra attention she needed during recovery. Despite the circumstances, Moxy was happy and relaxed with Christina — I could tell she felt safe and cared for. I’m truly grateful for the compassionate and professional service Christina provided and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog sitter.”

“Byron and Martha were great hosts and took great care of our Yorkie boys! They sent daily pictures and messages to let us know how the boys were doing, so we didn't have to worry during our trip. I highly recommend them, and I'll be bringing the boys back whenever my wife and I travel again.”

“Amy & Lamar took amazing care of our dog! We will continue to book with them. They send us photos/videos daily which is so nice to see. Our pup was excited to be back with them!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lincolnshire
Jisha was great. Because it was a new environment, Linny wouldn't eat his meals. Jisha literally hand fed Linny twice! She really cared about Linny like family! Really appreciate her pictures and video updates. I would definitely rebook with Jisha again! Thank you so much!

Logan was an amazing pet sitter. She took care of our three cats for three days and two nights. Logan is very patient and nurturing with pets. She gave us daily updates and sent adorable pictures. She’s very responsible and is amazing with animals. We’d highly recommend her as a pet sitter.

We had a wonderful experience with Balaji. We needed a sitter for our two week international trip and were nervous because this was our one-year-old toy poodle's first time being away from us. From the very beginning, Balaji reassured us that our dog would be well cared for. He even offered a short trial stay at his home so our dog could become familiar with the environment before the boarding stay. During that two hour trial stay, Balaji sent us photos and videos, which gave us confidence that our dog was comfortable and in good hands. Throughout the two week boarding period, Balaji sent multiple photos and videos every day, allowing us to see that our dog was comfortable and receiving good care. He was also very responsive and replied to our messages very quickly. Knowing that our dog was in such caring hands made it much easier for us to enjoy our trip. We highly recommend Balaji to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
