“My pet had spent the fantastic days in her house because I felt he didn’t want to go back home with me. I appreciated about what I could get good travel due to her care.”

“Jennifer and her family took good care of Watson and he was a very happy pup when I picked him up the following day. She wasn’t available for the drop off time, but her son and daughter were perfect caretakers for the hour or so she needed to be out. I recommend and look forward to him staying again!”

“Anna was super kind and accommodating. She did take pictures (which I so appreciate) including on walks. My dog was a bit high energy and Anna managed well - I know because he came back tired. Also, super helpful when we had to cut the trip short. TY Anna!”

“Jae and her family were amazing to my sweet puppy. I could not have asked for a better family to take care of my dog; we felt absolutely blessed to have such a perfect home when we were gone. The entire family treated her like she was part of the family, and I always felt comforted on my vacation to receive pictures of my dog enjoying her days with her interim family. I will absolutely only use Jae now. And our dogs have become great friends too, so what an incredible bonus!”

“Absolutely awesome! They obviously love animals. My girls had a wonderful time visiting Francine and Bob. This was the first time I left them at a sitter’s house. They sent photos of my girls having fun. That put my mind at ease. I definitely will use them again!”

“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”

“My dog had a blast staying here. I knew because I got plenty of videos and photos daily. I would Not hesitate to have my dog stay with Balaji & Senna again in the future.”

About: I've had cats and dogs since childhood, so I have a life-long experience with dogs of different sizes and breads, German shepherd, Husky, Chihuahua, at this moment I have a wonderful maltipoo kind of bread. I’m currently not employed and can take care of our small friends full time. Usually waking up at 7:30 and going to bad at 10:30 if the schedule for walking different I can fit it into mine and make adjustments. I live in apartments on 1-st floor, but don't have a fenced yard. Right by my building locates a good walking zone for dogs, the area is treated for ticks.
“Molly and Tilly had a terrific time with Mike! How do I know? They loved seeing me upon my return, gave me kisses, and then took a long nap! They were relaxed and happy! They hope to see Mike again soon! He’s the best!”

“I can’t say enough about how wonderful my dog’s extended stay with Patricia was. She made my dog feel right at home from the moment we walked in the door. My dog loved spending time in her and out in her fabulous fenced yard. Patricia even built a ramp for my senior dog! Her daily email updates put my family at ease. Patricia couldn’t have been kinder to our pet. Our dog will definitely visit Patricia again! ??”

About: My whole life I've grown up with dogs and other animals. I truly care about pets and their well being. I'm pursuing a degree in animal behavior and welfare. I also have watched family pets growing up. I'm currently without a job so I'm available to watch your animal(s) full-time, part-time, or over night if need be. I do live an apartment, but I have plenty of walking space outside, cat toys and trees for anyone with cats. I'm willing to work on a schedule if you need strict walking times or for feeding. I'm willing to train for free using reward-based training techniques and I'm willing to bathe for free if you'd like.
“Luciana is an absolutely amazing sitter! My pup stayed with her for three weeks, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She and her whole family treated my dog like one of their own, giving her so much love, care, and attention every single day. I truly appreciated the regular updates and the peace of mind knowing my pup was happy and well cared for while I was away. I would trust Luciana with my dog again without hesitation. I highly, highly recommend Luciana to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy sitter. She is simply the best!”

“I’m so grateful that I found Raagini even though it was last minute to look after my dog Choco for the winter break 2023. She is simply the best! Raagini is a highly responsible, kind and loving person and has 2 super friendly dogs of her own. She made sure our dogs would get along with a meet and greet session and jotted down all care instructions for choco. She kept me updated on how choco was doing on a daily basis with pictures. She has a really nice arrangement inside her home to give the dogs time together and to seperate them out too for quite alone time. I also loved the fact that she has a spacious beautiful fenced backyard for the dogs. This is the first time I felt choco had a vacation too while we were gone. I cannot recommend Raagini enough. Thank you Raagini for taking such good care of choco and I will surely be coming back to you in the future.”

About: I grew up in a tropical country surrounded by animals. Naturally, learning and caring for them became my passion. I currently have a dog and a cat of my own, so I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets. I work from home, which allows me to give them plenty of attention, playtime, and supervision throughout the day. Your fur babies will be treated like family here! I live in a single-family home and provide a calm, safe environment where pets can relax and feel comfortable. I’ll always do my best to make sure they feel loved and well cared for while you’re away.
“I have never had Rory try to turn around and stay with her sitter before, but she did today! It was clear that she really enjoyed her time with Kyle and Marta and that she wasn’t ready for her vacation to be over! Kyle made me feel so ease throughout the process - he asked all the questions he needed to make sure Rory would be safe and comfortable and sent me updates (with cute pictures!) every day. I didn’t worry about my baby the whole time and would definitely leave her in Kyle’s care again, she seemed very happy.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, and rabbits for the past 15 years of my life. I absolutely adore them and looking for more opportunities to take care of them! I am available most of the time as I am on maternity leave and would have plenty of time to ensure your pet gets the care and exercise it needs. I will take your dog on long walks and ensure that they are comfortable at my home. My home is very safe and uncluttered. You pet would have plenty of space to roam around and play with toys. My neighbourhood is also very safe, quiet, and peaceful.
“Yamile is super nice and you can tell she likes pets. She took good care of my dog and cat. I also appreciated that her dog was very chill, even around my cat (they barely acknowledged each other!). Would book with her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Libertyville
We had such a wonderful experience and couldn’t be happier! Jean took amazing care of our dog and kept me updated several times a day with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She has two dogs of her own, and they were both so sweet and friendly with our dog — it was wonderful knowing he had good company and felt comfortable and happy there. Jean is caring, attentive, reliable, and clearly truly loves dogs. We came home to a very happy dog, and I would absolutely trust her with him again. We are so grateful to have found her and highly recommend her! ❤️

Thank you, Jayne, for taking such good care of Bessie! This was my first time using Rover, and Bessie’s second time staying at someone else’s house. I received photo updates, as well as updates on her eating, bathroom habits, and behavior throughout her stay, which made me feel very comfortable and reassured that she was doing well. Bessie loves her routine, and when it’s disrupted, she usually doesn’t eat for a few days. Surprisingly, Bessie ate most of her meals while staying with Jayne and it happened that Jayne’s daughter stayed with her until she ate. It was so sweet of both of them, and it melted my heart. ❤️ I highly recommend Jayne, and we will definitely use her again if we ever need to be away. Thank you again for taking such great care of Bessie

Petra was super lovely!! Mishka cried in the car when we were leaving her home, which tells me immediately that he loved being there. She took super good care of him, not even minding he is a very spoiled puppy, sent us pictures of him being adorable, and played with him and let him borrow all her dog toys.

Sherry took great care of our pup - she kept him active, had toys ready for him, was detail oriented when it came to his care, and sent updates with photos. It was clear he was well loved while in her home! She was easy to work with, flexible, and quick to respond/communicate.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
