“Absolutely awesome! They obviously love animals. My girls had a wonderful time visiting Francine and Bob. This was the first time I left them at a sitter’s house. They sent photos of my girls having fun. That put my mind at ease. I definitely will use them again!”

“Fantastic! She provided regular updates and was so helpful. The backyard was a break place for our dog to be. Would totally have her again and have already booked another time!”

“Kelly, along with her own pooch Maggie, were excellent companions for our puppy's first stay away from home. Kelly was on top of everything, because she's very professional and caring. I really appreciated the photos she sent each day showing that our dog was having a good time. Kelly was always on top of the entire process. Because we were traveling to and from the airport, together we made the drop off and pick up as smooth and quick as possible. Kelly's location, about five minutes from the airport, was perfect too.”

“Veronique took so great care of our Lola, we will definitely want Lola (Boxer Bosten Mix) have Lola in her care again in the future! We received updates woth little clips and pictures as well infos to her dog friends.”

“Thank you Elaina and Joseph for allowing me to book with a short notice and for being very flexible with dropoff and pickup times. Communication was excellent, constant updates and pictures, and great care. You'll definitely be my sitter of choice when I'm in the area. Thank you!!”

“First time using Rover and we had a great experience with Debbie and Tom from the "meet and greet" to the overnight stay. Archie settled in nicely and I could tell he was comfortable there from the pictures and updates they sent. I am grateful for the opportunity to let him stay in a comfy home with people who love dogs!”

“Elisa was absolutely wonderful with our little Zeke. He had a great time and became great friends with Fiona. Will definitely reach out to Elisa for future stays. She is so nice and took such great care - truly an animal lover! Thanks so much!!”

“Diana was great with my retriever Penny. Wasn't sure how it would go since Penny is a rescue with separation anxiety and I've only left her once with a sitter, in my house. But Diana was super understanding and patient with her. Good sized back yard that Penny loved to run around in and play catch, and Penny seemed quite comfortable with them when I picked her up. Would absolutely board with her again.”

“Lorena was great. She accommodated last minute in house booking for me and took great care of the boys. Very easy to coordinate with and provides a clean and comfortable environment. Provided regular updates and photos to let us know everyone was ok. Highly recommended and will use her again.”

“Kathy is an amazing dog sitter. This is her second time watching Clark and she and her family always do a fantastic job of caring for him. He loves his time there. I would 100% leave Clark in Kathy’s care again.”

About: I’ve been a devoted dog owner and animal lover for many years. My dog, Chase, was diagnosed with cancer at age 11, and I cared from him through the very end of his journey until he passed away at 12. Caring for him taught me patience, compassion, attention to detail, and the importance of treating every pet like family. In addition to caring for Chase, I’ve pet sat for family and friends for years, with many dogs staying in my home for two weeks or more at a time. I understand that every pet has unique routines, personalities and needs, and I take the time to make them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owners are away. Because I work from home, pets in my care are rarely left alone. On the occasional errand or appointment, I use pet cameras to keep an eye on them and ensure they’re safe and comfortable. Providing peace of mind for both pets and their owners is very important to me. My goal is simple: to treat your pet with the same love, attention, and care that I gave my own fur baby. Whether you’re looking for boarding, house sitting, drop-in visits, or walks, my goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I treat every animal in my care like family and look forward to meeting you and your furry friend! Why pet parents choose me: • Work from home, providing frequent supervision •Experience with extended pet stays •Comfortable following special routines and care instructions •Dedicated to keeping pets safe, comfortable, and loved •Regular updates and communication for owners •Treat every pet like family I work from home full-time, which gives me the flexibility to provide frequent attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. Pets in my care are rarely left alone and become part of my daily routine. I’m available for boarding, drop-in visits, and walks, and I do my best to accommodate each pet’s schedule, exercise needs, feeding routine, and personality. Whether your pet needs extra playtime, a midday walk, or simply a comforting presence, I am happy to help. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has unique needs, routines, and preferences, and I will follow your care instructions closely. Because I work from home, I can monitor pets throughout the day and provide plenty of attention and companionship. On the rare occasion that I need to step out, I use pet cameras to keep an eye on them and ensure they remain safe and comfortable. I provide a calm, loving environment where pets are treated like family, and I’ll keep you updated so you can feel confident while you’re away.
“I needed someone to watch my fur baby while we were moving and Allison and Jason were very accommodating on such a short notice. They also took great care of Halo and sent several updates daily. Halo enjoyed playing ball with their son and going on nice walks with the family. I look forward for Halo to visit again.”

“Both my 6.5-year-old Vizsla and my 3-month old Vizsla LOVE going to stay with Chris and her family. My older guy starts to shake and jump with excitement when we turn on her street, and I was worried about leaving our new puppy at home; however, with Chris' excellent love and care, they both did great. Can't recommend her enough!”

“Judy is amazing! She made our dog right at home. She also sent daily pictures so that we could see what our pup was up to while we were on vacation. I would highly recommend Judy to anyone.”

About: Hi there! I'm a lifelong dog lover who recently relocated to the USA. While I love it here, I deeply miss the family dogs I had to leave back in my home country. Having grown up surrounded by dogs, I'm so excited to open my heart and home to your furry family member! What sets me apart is the personalized attention your dog will receive. I am currently home full-time, so caring for dogs is my main focus. My husband also works from home, which means there is almost always someone in the apartment, and your pup will rarely, if ever, be left alone. I live in a comfortable apartment with wonderful green spaces nearby for walks and outdoor time. I'm happy to adapt to your dog's unique personality and routine. If your pup loves to stay active, I'd be delighted to take them on walks or runs. If they prefer a slower pace, they're welcome to curl up on the couch with me for plenty of cuddles and relaxation. Having grown up with dogs, I understand how difficult it can be to leave your beloved pet with someone else. I'll care for your dog as if they were my own and keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I can't wait to meet your pup! I am home during the day, which allows me to provide attentive, personalized care throughout your dog's stay. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, so I can easily follow your pup's established feeding, bathroom, exercise, and medication schedule. I take care of all daily walks, playtime, and one-on-one attention to ensure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and loved. My husband works from home full-time, so while I am your dog's primary caregiver, there is almost always someone else in the home as well. This means your dog will have plenty of companionship and will rarely, if ever, be left alone. With our flexible schedules, your pup can enjoy frequent potty breaks, regular exercise, and lots of affection throughout the day. Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood in a ground-floor apartment, which is ideal for dogs since there are no steep stairs or elevator rides to navigate. We also have a securely gated balcony where your pup can safely enjoy some fresh air and watch the world go by. I keep my home dog-proofed, free of hazards, and calm so every guest feels comfortable and secure. While I am the one providing your dog's care, my husband works from home, so there is almost always someone in the home as well. During walks, I always keep dogs securely on a leash, stay aware of our surroundings, and prioritize their safety at all times. I treat every dog in my care with the same love, patience, and attention I would give my own.
“Matt was very good with our dog. He is near the Great Lakes Naval Base and is experienced with dog foster care. He has a small fenced yard and let our dog socialize with his three dogs. Our small terrier easily assimilated as a member of the family. 5 stars.”

I was extremely happy with Jacob and Jasper absolutely loved staying with him. I booked with Jacob for 2 1/2 weeks while I was in Europe. I was nervous because that is the longest I had ever left my boy and I had only done a brief meet & greet a few months earlier. Jacob made me feel so comfortable when I dropped Jasper off and I left knowing that he was in great hands. He communicated with me & sent pictures/videos frequently while I was gone. By the time I came home I think Jasper was having so much fun that he didn’t want to leave! I will definitely be booking with Jacob again in the future!!

Our experience was wonderful. Our dog had the best time staying with Jordan, getting lots of love, interactions, and playtime. Jordan made it really easy for us to have a relaxing vacation, knowing that our dog was taken care of. Our pup (and family) is so glad to have found a new friend!

Jennifer and Aaron had been a great hosts to Pepper and their dog was a fantastic playmate to Pepper. They took good care of Pepper like their own. Pepper comes home very happy and energetic. We definitely will use Jennifer and Aaron again Peppers next boarding. Thank you so much to both of them.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
