“Jennifer spent a week with my puppy while I was out of town, and all I can say is that she is a SAINT! I can’t stress enough how amazing, patient, and kind Jennifer was to Benny. She is great with updates and recommendations. If you need a sitter, you can’t do better than Jennifer.”

About: Ive taken care of family members dogs before. I’ve also had experience with puppies and adult dogs! I have 1 dog of my own and it would be fun to be able to take care of other dogs as well :) I work part time and most of my afternoons I’m free! I always love going on walks in the afternoons anyways so having someone to walk with would be awesome! I have a fenced yard and a crate inside if needed. I do have kids but they’re all very gentle with our animals here at home.

“Lorena was great! My dog becomes very anxious when she knows I am leaving town and with Lorena being so welcoming and knowing how to work with anxious dogs it was a perfect match. My dog did great, she felt comfortable and did not have any issues. Lorena also responded quickly when I reached out and sent me pictures of my dog easing my mind. I will definitely use Lorena again.”

About: I have had dogs for over 15 years and attended trainings with them so I am versed on how to train and care for your pet. Currently I have no pets at home because I lost my best friend, Riley- a 14 year old Rottweiler, this past April so I would love to help you care for yours. All the snuggles are included! I am comfortable with puppies and senior dogs. I am a nurse by profession and I am very comfortable giving medications or injections. Thank you for sharing your furry friends with me and allowing me the privilege to care for them! 🐾 I am available for walks during the day near lake forest or evenings. I can watch your pet on weekends or during the week as needed. There are no pets in my home currently so your pet will get all the attention. We will do frequent walks and able to crate if needed. No dog is too big or small

“Dee was amazing! She honestly loves dogs and treated ours as her own while we were away. She sent a steady stream of updates and pictures to keep us in the loop and our dogs and our happiness was her first priority. 11/10, she's an angel and I'd happily have our dog sit with her again.”

“Tommy & Julie are fantastic! My dog has separation anxiety and fear of storms/fireworks. They comforted her and stayed with her the whole week. She was happy and healthy when I picked her up. I highly recommend them and am happy to have found them. They TRULY care about our dogs and it shows. We will definitely call them again.”

“Gage was responsive in a timely fashion and sent me picture updates! He even introduced my dog to a cat (Gage’s cat) for the first time and the cat loved my dog’s energy so much, his cat decided to snuggle with my dog on the bed. So adorable! Thank you, Gage!”

“Thank you Elaina and Joseph for allowing me to book with a short notice and for being very flexible with dropoff and pickup times. Communication was excellent, constant updates and pictures, and great care. You'll definitely be my sitter of choice when I'm in the area. Thank you!!”

“Annie took great care of our Golden Retriever and gave us peace of mind by sending plenty fun pics of our dog enjoying himself with his new friends. We found Annie to be a very kind lover of dogs and cats. She was also flexible with our traveling schedule so that my family can enjoy our vacation without worry. We will not hesitate to use her services again for our future sitting needs!”

About: Throughout the 20 years of life my family has always had a dog and I wouldn’t change it any other way. I feel a connection towards animals and enjoy trying to provide a better life for them every day! I am comfortable around all dogs and i’m always willing to learn how to care for your animal. I currently work part-time and go to school part time for my sonography degree. I have lots of open time willing to help make your life easier! I don’t have a fenced in yard but I do have a dog that my family and I walk at least 3 times a day. There is lots of room in the house to play. When it comes to a clients home, I’m very respectful of the rules and follow them accordingly.
“Monica took the best care of my dog and provided several video updates each day. Her communication is prompt and she followed all the instructions I gave her. Highly recommend!”

“Jayne lovingly took care of my baby Kensie and gave daily updates on his eating and bathroom habits alongside some of the best photos of him! Super communicative and fastest response rate I've experienced at Rover.com. She is a real find!”

“At my first meeting with Jill, she was organized, professional and caring about meeting our needs. It eased my concerns about leaving my dog with a stranger. From the photos Jill texted me throughout our trip, it was obvious that Zoey was having the time of her life playing with the other dogs! Jill clearly pampered and enjoyed Zoey, and I highly recommend Jill as a dog sitter.”

“Veronique took so great care of our Lola, we will definitely want Lola (Boxer Bosten Mix) have Lola in her care again in the future! We received updates woth little clips and pictures as well infos to her dog friends.”

“Kathy took amazing care of Clark for 10 nights while I was on a cruise. This was the first time he had ever stayed with a sitter through Rover and not with a family member so I was very nervous. Kathy sent pictures and updates which helped to calm my nerves. When I picked Clark up he seemed sad to leave! He has such a great time with Kathy, her family and her dog Bella. I would 100% leave Clark in Kathy’s care again. Thank you, Kathy!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Third Lake
Kim took really good care of my dogs. She constantly provided me with videos of them playing in her yard and updates on their feeding schedule and esting habits. My 2 dogs seem to have had a great time staying at her home for a few days. I will definitely book her again in the future.

Our experience was wonderful. Our dog had the best time staying with Jordan, getting lots of love, interactions, and playtime. Jordan made it really easy for us to have a relaxing vacation, knowing that our dog was taken care of. Our pup (and family) is so glad to have found a new friend!

Elisa is truly caring nature, and I felt totally at ease leaving my baby with her. She treats your dog like it’s part of her own family, and on top of that, her home is spotless! She also kept me posted with texts and photos though out each day. I will continue working with Elisa and happy I found her and Fiona (her dog). ✨✨✨

Yolanda and her Husband are great. Hunter felt right at home and loved. They asked for suggestions when needed and assisted when I suggested hand feeding cuz hunter wouldn't eat. I was able to go camping and know hunter was being cared for like he was home with his momma. They even provided picture updates. Will definitely recommend and return.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
