“Gage was super awesome and attentive with Ramona’s care. He gave us constant updates and pictures while we were gone. His dog was super friendly with Ramona, and even sent me videos of them both playing together. Gage will definitely be our first option on our next trip!!”

“Deidre was able to take our labradoodle on short notice, on a holiday weekend, and then was able to extend his stay when we needed it. Very friendly, very flexible, very acommodating. thank you!”

“Fantastic! She provided regular updates and was so helpful. The backyard was a break place for our dog to be. Would totally have her again and have already booked another time!”

“Whether it's boarding or doggy daycare, Jack loves his time with Debbie and family! He gets a few long walks a day, and is always tired when I pick him up! I feel at ease knowing he's in good hands!”

“Jayne took great care of Moxie. I travel a lot for work and being new to NYC and not knowing anyone I have to rely on Rover to find responsible people to love and care for my dog like I do. I got photo updates at least 2-3 times a day of Jayne taking Moxie out on walks, playing with her in the house, and of Moxie relaxing comfortably in Jayne's home. I could tell that she was well cared for and in good hands. Jayne reached out with questions about her eating habits and also had to deal with a lot of walks in cold and rainy weather, so I knew Moxie was in good hands. Jayne was very responsive when I reached out to her for updates. I would absolutely trust Jayne again with my dear Jack Russell Terrier.”

“Kelly, along with her own pooch Maggie, were excellent companions for our puppy's first stay away from home. Kelly was on top of everything, because she's very professional and caring. I really appreciated the photos she sent each day showing that our dog was having a good time. Kelly was always on top of the entire process. Because we were traveling to and from the airport, together we made the drop off and pick up as smooth and quick as possible. Kelly's location, about five minutes from the airport, was perfect too.”

“I needed someone to watch my fur baby while we were moving and Allison and Jason were very accommodating on such a short notice. They also took great care of Halo and sent several updates daily. Halo enjoyed playing ball with their son and going on nice walks with the family. I look forward for Halo to visit again.”

“Veronique is a true professional with years of experience as a groomer, trainer and caretaker of dogs and animals of all kinds! She clearly loves animals and is very thoughtful and intentional with their care. We felt very confident leaving our two goldens with her and they had a great time! She has a huge backyard and a very pet-friendly home. She sent regular photos and videos of their stay. They were treated just like her own dogs. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be returning in the future!”

“Monica is awesome with our Sky. She genuinely loves dogs and takes really special care to give ours the attention that she needs. The communication is great and she has been very flexible with our erratic schedules. We’re very happy to have met her and we feel very comforted knowing our Sky is in her good hands”

About: My whole life I've grown up with dogs and other animals. I truly care about pets and their well being. I'm pursuing a degree in animal behavior and welfare. I also have watched family pets growing up. I'm currently without a job so I'm available to watch your animal(s) full-time, part-time, or over night if need be. I do live an apartment, but I have plenty of walking space outside, cat toys and trees for anyone with cats. I'm willing to work on a schedule if you need strict walking times or for feeding. I'm willing to train for free using reward-based training techniques and I'm willing to bathe for free if you'd like.
“We wanted to express our sincere appreciation for your exceptional care of my anxious dog while we were on vacation. It was a relief knowing you kept him comfortable and safe, especially with his anxiety. We also really appreciated you keeping him separate from your cat due to my daughter's allergies – it showed a real dedication to his well-being and consideration for my family. The updates and photos you sent were so reassuring. Thanks again for going above and beyond! Will definitely take Cody back on our next vacation😊”

About: As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve had the joy of raising two dogs from puppies, giving me firsthand experience with everything from potty training and basic training to the high energy and patience that young dogs require. I have been dog sitting for friends & family in Michigan & Illinois for 3 years now. In my professional life, I’m an Occupational Therapist who works with older adults. I regularly help residents safely care for and enjoy time with their beloved pets, so I’m experienced in recognizing changes in behavior, adapting to individual needs, and providing calm, attentive care. I’m also comfortable with senior dogs who may need a slower pace. Because I’m young and active, I love getting outside for walks, playtime, and adventures that help energetic dogs stay happy and engaged. Whether your pup wants a long walk, a game of fetch, or just lots of cuddles and companionship, I’ll tailor my care to their personality and routine. My goal is to treat every dog as if they were my own, so you can feel confident they’re safe, loved, and having a great time while you’re away! I work a normal 9-5 Monday-Friday. Therefore I prefer to do Friday afternoon-Sunday evening stays! This way I am available 24/7 for the pet. I have a fenced in yard (that is also dig proof). I currently have one very friendly dog who would be eager to any pups companion. My dog is allowed on furniture/in beds. We have a lot of sidewalks & trails within our neighborhood for walks. I have multiple security cameras.
“Heather was absolutely amazing with our dog, Arlo, while we were out of state for a funeral. Leaving him was incredibly difficult for us because we had never left him before, but Heather gave us peace of mind from the very beginning. She reassured us many times before and during our trip, which meant so much during such a hard time. She sent multiple pictures every single day along with detailed updates, and it was clear Arlo was being treated like part of the family. Heather and her family took such wonderful care of him, and we could truly see how loved and comfortable he was while we were away. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience. Heather made a painful and stressful time so much easier for us, and we are beyond grateful we found her. We would give her 10 stars if we could and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and compassionate to watch their pet.”

“Valeria is a wonderful dog sitter! She picked up my dog from my cousin’s house nearby and had him while we were traveling overseas. She sent photos of him inside, on walks, and playing. At least 3 a day. She had very specific questions about him and asked permission for types of treats. She was always available to message back and forth about my dog and was very clear about how he spent his days. My dog looked very happy and very well cared-for at her house. I definitely recommend Valeria and will absolutely re-book with her!”

“Dickson is a very caring dog sitter. He did everything he could to make my bulldog feel comfortable and have fun. He gives video and picture updates of their adventures. I would absolutely have him watch my dog again!”

“Finley seemed to enjoy staying with Kathryn and her family. He especially liked the company of her dogs, Harvey and Pepito! Kathryn even gave Finley a good brushing. We will definitely use Kathryn again another time we need a sitter. Thanks Rover!”

“I loved leaving my Yogi at JoAnne’s. She was very welcoming, anxious to make sure I was comfortable with her house and her puppy and she had a calm friendly manner. Yogi ran right in, met her dog and started playing, JoAnne sent me several very cute pictures of Yogi playing and resting, so I could see that he was having a good time. I would hire her again if she is available.”

This was another excellent experience with Kelsey. She consistently provides thoughtful, attentive care, and Daisy immediately relaxes as if she’s in her own home. The communication, updates, and warm environment make every stay stress‑free for us and enjoyable for Daisy. We couldn’t ask for a better sitter.

I needed someone to watch my fur baby while we were moving and Allison and Jason were very accommodating on such a short notice. They also took great care of Halo and sent several updates daily. Halo enjoyed playing ball with their son and going on nice walks with the family. I look forward for Halo to visit again.

I was extremely happy with Jacob and Jasper absolutely loved staying with him. I booked with Jacob for 2 1/2 weeks while I was in Europe. I was nervous because that is the longest I had ever left my boy and I had only done a brief meet & greet a few months earlier. Jacob made me feel so comfortable when I dropped Jasper off and I left knowing that he was in great hands. He communicated with me & sent pictures/videos frequently while I was gone. By the time I came home I think Jasper was having so much fun that he didn’t want to leave! I will definitely be booking with Jacob again in the future!!

Our experience was wonderful. Our dog had the best time staying with Jordan, getting lots of love, interactions, and playtime. Jordan made it really easy for us to have a relaxing vacation, knowing that our dog was taken care of. Our pup (and family) is so glad to have found a new friend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
